I also read it might be a possibility to just buy a second Sim card for your phone.

I saw in a gossip column that Matthew Perry got exposed by a nineteen year old publicity seeker model type. It looks as if it is not on android so I can't try it for myself.

I think there are two things discussed here. One is to allow adding contact automatically, the other is to allow contacts access. I think the critical time is during install, one must read every question carefully before proceeding to not allow adding contact automatically.
I have multiple phones with me when I travel. It is more for backup purpose than anything else. I only carry the one I need and the one that I can lose going out. All my phones have US numbers so it does not makes much difference for a few hours.

Posts: 1202Why use a burner phone?
This may be a stupid question, but what are the main reasons for using a burner phone? To avoid the police and getting busted? Or, to hide your identity from the gals? Or, something else?
I only have one phone. In the states, I use the Hushed app, which gives me an unregistered telephone number. In China, I use a "second" WeChat account, which is affiliated with an old unregistered telephone number. I use these apps exclusively to communicate with SBs, WGs, MP gals, agencies, and pimps.
As I mentioned earlier, I realize that apps can "talk" to each other, and so that would be one reason to use a burner phone, but are there other major reasons? To me, just having a second phone is already suspicious. I would have no good explanation for it. Thanks!

Posts: 335I use WhatsApp and telegram. I have a different sim and handset for the burner number. Never had to worry about other things.

Posts: 590That's scary AF. That you could have an alternate temporary identity and it could be so easily pierced.
Just googled and found out its easy to stop this on WhatsApp. Just go into settings and stop contact sync on WhatsApp and it won't look for contacts and import them anymore.

Posts: 1202But Hushed app may not be bullet proof
For a while, using the Hushed app on my cell phone was working out well, but then I later downloaded another messenger app, I think it was WhatsApp, and suddenly I got these messages saying that my contact Susie, Wendy, Claire, etc. (names of SBs) are using WhatsApp. They got a similar message, saying "your contact Midwestern joined WhatsApp. " Eventually, several of my SBs found out my real name this way, and a few also found my LinkedIn page.
I have said this before, if an SB of average smarts wants to find out your true identity, then she can figure it out. Either you will mess up, or she will figure it out, or something else will give you away. One gal, after our brief meet and greet, where I used a fake name, found my LinkedIn page later that same night. I later asked her how she did it, and she said, "I am not dumb. It is easy to find people's real identities. ".
On a lot of hotels, your name appears on the TV screen!
But I too hunted down true identities of SBs, and I was able to find it every single time.
What's the moral of this story? Try your best to hide your identity, but be prepared if it is found out. And, do not lie. I lied to my SBs, and that came back to haunt me. So, for example, if you are married, then just admit it to the SBs.

Posts: 590Thanks for the reply. Can I ask, though, what app do you use? I have WhatsApp but if a girl wants to communicate on WhatsApp it's not like I can uninstall, re-install with a new burner number, and do that over and over. Do you just communicate in the burner app text messaging feature? What do you do for video call then?

Posts: 335I maintain a separate burner phone. Just switch it on when I want to communicate. You need not post your real pics. You can hide the face.
