I was informed that there are street workers operating out of houses in the El Crucero area on Tulum ave, has anyone on here ever tried this area out? Or any street workers off the beaten path? If so what kind of prices?

Just out of curiosity I looked around on Google street view, at the intersection of Calle 22 and Calle 5 Numero there is a yellow house with obvious street workers.

I'll be in Cancun in August, and if I feel adventurous I will head over there. Definitely during the daytime though, I hear El Crucero has had some cartel turf wars.

Sorry, that link doesn't appear to be working. If anyone is curious, just go to google maps, find the Calle 22 & Calle 5 Numero intersection, then do street view. If anyone has visited that particular cat house, I would appreciate some intel! I'll likely try it out the first week of August, and I'll be sure to do a write up with current prices and overall experience.

Just took a cab to the Spa. Should have taken the bus ($1) but I was impatient. (At least the cab driver was informative, though I'll just go via bus next time. I usually have plenty of time on my hands.).

Address is accurate. It's on a side street and obviously the driver knew where he was going but it seems easy to find. You can google the property and a picture will come up. Just a simple and common house address with the number clearly depicted. Door was locked so I knocked. Did a little negotiating with the concierge and he refused $1500 pesos ($78 at the current exchange but I had my math wrong and thought it was closer to $125). In any case, without even realizing it I was driving an overly hard bargain. I was heading over to Mary's Spa when I re-did the math. Stupid Gringo.

Anyway, back at Healthy Body I had three girls to choose from and I went with the cutest (obviously). Went up to a simple but clean room with a massage table and bed. I've lurking here and wanted to give back information.

Playa Del Carmen is a forgotten gem. Cheaper then the Hotel Zone in Cancun and less touristy though still fairly touristy. The club scene is better too as you don't have to pay for a table in every bar and they aren't pushy, Cancun's Hotel Zone clubs are full of stouts / promoters hitting you up to go to their club. Hotels in Playa are about 25 a night (there are all inclusive for more though). The ride from the airport is 1000 pesos for Taxi or $30 for a Van / Shuttle. The area is fairly safe, I see tourist girls walking around by themselves and underage girls at night near the club area. I'm sure you could get mugged if you stray in the wrong area but its fairly safe. The only bad thing that happened was the power outage.

I visited the place 4 days last May and enjoyed my time. There are street walkers near the club area aka 5th ave though they charge $150 USD /3000 pesos (overpriced) and they aren't top dollar value (girls 5/10 to 8/10). I tried the MX site and found a girl with accurate pics, curvy with big tits, big ass, and a decent face. Probably good enough to be in porn. She had a good attitude and charged only 1800 pesos and was delivered to my hotel. There was no upsell and she didn't ask for the money upfront.

Your three choices are McAllen, Harlingen, and Brownsville. Nuevo Progreso is tucked between McAllen and Harlingen, with Brownsville off to the southeast. United Airlines and American Airlines service all three airports. I think even Sun Country services only Harlingen. Be sure to shop around, as McAllen has the most flights per day (and probably better fares), while Harlingen and Brownsville have fewer flights and (probably) correspondingly higher prices.

Exactly as he said or San Antonio and rent a car. Closest is McAllen then you could Uber to the international bridge (probably 35 miles or so). Plenty to do to keep from getting bored and there are more dentists than I could begin to count. The walk across the bridge is very short, place will be full of Americans for dental work or prescription medication as well as several that just go over to buy a few souvenirs and have a couple of Margaritas. You can find out anything you need to know via Google. Before I moved to the Philippines I had all of my dental work done there since 2001. Cleanings, filling, whitening, root canals, crowns and ex-wife had orthodontics, cleanings, and a bridge.

If you are up to making a trip for just dental work Nuevo Progreso is a sure bet. The entire town survives off of dental work and Farmacias. Lot's of dentists there, all very well trained. The last major work I had done there was a root canal and crown. I paid extra to have the permanent crown installed the next day. Drove down early in the morning took about an hour and a half for the root canal and preparation of crown. The impression went to the lab that day. Got a room at hotel Las Flores which is a nice hotel for about 40 USD per night. Spent the evening then the next day about 1 PM the permanent crown was installed. Total cost for the dental work was $410 USD. Price that in the USA. Also if you have US dental insurance you can submit the receipts and get reimbursed. I have always used the Rio Dental Office. Just as soon as you cross the bridge turn right in the first plaza and it is straight ahead. They actually are about 20% more expensive than most but the work is flawless.

Thank you for the advice on Merida. I'll check it out next time. The only argument for Cancun was that it's a quick and easy trip for me. However, I certainly don't mind making a trip to Nuevo Progreso to save a few grand on the drillings.
