There are many Americans who retain the old world point of view but I relegate them to a dying perspective. But a pet peeve of mine is when immigrants who obtain American citizenship themselves still don't refer to themselves as American. The American mindset is clear though. Various people with European backgrounds have become automatically accepted as American (Not the case with Europeans in other European countries). Black Americans are also unquestioned. People of Hispanic origin are increasingly becoming American first as their numbers grow. Asians have a bit further to go and they are often their own worst enemies in this process.

An interesting fact that I learned is that the US at the time of the founding fathers had a fascination with the Romans. That is the reasons for the architecture with columns on monuments and colonial homes. They gave their pets Roman names. It was taught at the Universities, etc. They got the idea of democracy from Plato and Aristotle. They brought over University professors over from Scotland to teach it. I stand corrected. I can see how people consider it an experiment.

I don't see the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution as overly involved with immigration. There was a group of people in the USA Before that and did that. Calling the melting pot thing an experiment is nonsensical considering all the migrations and intermixing of humankind and other hominids in history and prehistory. I never understood how closing at night stops covid?

So covid is not transmitted in the daytime? I would think that keeping open at night and capacity limits would thin the crowd and keep a lower occupancy averaged throughout the entire timespan and thus be safer.

The reasoning in large cities in the States was that night crowds were drinking crowds and masking and distancing was thrown out the window.

During the flu wave a few years ago there were over 700 patients on intensive care in Norway from flu alone. Now there are about 150 covid patients on intensive care. After Austria going 2 G, with the evolution in Germany it's possible that they will go 2 G as well soon. In Switzerland we are told that 2 G is not yet necessary. Seems that next measure will be opening booster shots for the general population.
