Inaccurate and apparently a reflection of selectively picking data:

Yes a WHO study refutes other studies regarding Remdesvir efficacy:

    https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2023184

Here are the other studies that contradict the WHO study:

    https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2007764

    https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...rticle/2769871

It's by no means a definitive gold standard but further studies show it being more effective if in combination with other therapies:

    https://www.nejm.org/doi/10.1056/NEJMoa2031994

    In short:

-WHO study finds remdesivir to not be effective in reducing mortality rates in a retrospective study in which patients were not stratified based on disease severity in African and Asian hospitals using their respective standards of care.

-Other studies showed efficacy in improving clinical outcomes and reducing recovery time in patients when stratified for moderate disease severity in North American hospitals and their respective standard of care.

    Rubbished

Barron's Magazine article by Hui Min Neo: "Germany's health ministry on Tuesday joined AstraZeneca in rubbishing reports quoting unnamed sources that claimed the British-Swedish company's Covid-19 vaccine showed little efficacy for people over 65.

Handelsblatt econony daily had reported Monday the Berlin had estimated the efficacy of the jab among over 65's at just 8 percent. Separately, Bild quoted "an efficacy of less than 10%.

But Germany's health ministry said Tuesday it "appears that two things have been mixed up in the reports".

"Around eight percent of the volunteers in AstraZeneca's efficacy studies were around 56 ad 69 years old and three to four percent are above 70 years old" The health ministry added that the European regulator EMA will evaluate the effectiveness of the vaccine. "It has been known since autumn that fewer older people were involved in AstraZeneca's first studies than in other manufacturers".

It's a nice thought experiment but there was no other alternative. I always point back to New York City and Milan in March and April. There was no flattening of the curve back then and hospitals were overrun and people who probably would have survived if we were able to deliver the proper standard of care needlessly died. The cases became manageable after the first round of restrictions but then things got much worse in the US when people stopped caring by late summer. Case numbers fell again in the fall either because people started taking more precautions again or due to a lack of social opportunities after the summer, but the holiday season caused another surge in cases and deaths.

No one wants to keep things shut down but the alternative was to let hospitals continue to get over run and society just not having the resources to keep up with the rate of infection. It's a difficult balance to decide how much activity to resume and controlling the caseload.

At the moment, "mutant" and "variant" are boogey man words. Yes, there is a possibility of them creating more challenges but currently mutations are not significant enough to abort the current plan: Get through this post-Christmas wave while vaccinating as many people as possible. My prediction is that we are currently at the end of the current surge and will begin a slow dwindle to more manageable case numbers. The key date for getting vaccinations up will be sometime in April as between now and then, I don't foresee anymore reasons for people to gather more than they already are doing.

A bigger threat than mutants is misinformation regarding vaccines, poor management in distribution, and possibly supply.

I swear there are people rooting for the vaccine to fail just to feel good about being right. (They won't be.).

In a nutshell, an mRNA vaccine works the other way around, with the mRNA producing proteins, with a very high likelihood of your body developing autoimmune diseases over the next 3-5 y
    Gentle reminder.

Still waiting for that source to support how an mRNA code for a cell membrane binding protein can alter human DNA and cause autoimmune problems. Doesn't even have to be research. Even a page from an undergraduate level biology text book to illustrate how cell biology works would suffice.

For the purpose of accurate information and education rather than mere argument's sake of course.

Side note, ALL viruses constantly mutate but we still deem vaccines for MMR, varicella, polio, smallpox, etc effective.

Correct me if I'm wrong but 2020-2007=13 right? And 2021-2007=14, so we'll soon have a party for the 14th year of addiction!

Well, I don't know how good your German is in "Beijing," (is posting on forums the job you do for the Chinese government?) so please tell us where you disagree with what I previously posted. You really sound a lot like another forum user, who also likes to make accusations and specializes in gaslighting, without presenting any facts. Please give us some direct quotes and facts, instead of more gaslighting.

I'll give the readers here some quotes;.

The title of the first article reads: "areückschlag bei Corona-Impfstoff: Astra-Zeneca-Vakzin wirkt bei Senioren offenbar kaum" translation by myself: "setback with Corona vaccine: Astra-Zeneca vaccine barely works with senior citizens. ".

In the article: "Nach Informationen des Handelsblatts aus Koalitionskreisen rechnet die Bundesregierung nur mit einer Wirksamkeit von acht Prozent bei den über 65-Jährigen. " translation by myself: "According to information of the government coalition in possession of Handelsblatt, the government counts on only an efficacy of 8% among people older than 65. "

I'm not going to translate the whole second article myself (use Google Translate if you want) because I have work to do, but a key paragraph which is relevant for people thinking about traveling is this one: "Auch die Auslandsreisen vieler Deutscher soll die Kanzlerin kritisiert haben, berichtete das Blatt. Weihnachten seien jeden Tag 50.000 Menschen auf die Kanaren und die Malediven geflogen. "Warum können wir die Reisen nicht verbieten? Soll die Regierungschefin gefragt haben. Man müsse "den Flugverkehr so ausdünnen, dass man nirgendwo mehr hinkommt", sagte Merkel nach Angaben von Zuhörern der Schalte. Sie fügte auch an, Deutschland brauche ein härteres Grenzregime. "

    My translation:

"The Chancellor is also to have criticised the many foreign travels of Germans, the newspaper reported. Over the Christmas holidays, every day 50000 people have flown to the Canary Islands and the Maldives. "Why can't we just outlaw this travel," the Head of Government is supposed to have said. "One has to thin out air travel in such a way that people can no longer travel anywhere," Merkel said according to listeners of the connection. She added: "Germany needs a harsh border regime. ".

Get ready for another Berlin Wall with barbed wire and mine fields, and an Iron Curtain from Stasi-Mutti Merkel boys! As I said, if you want to see the inside of an FKK club ever again, you better start waking up and see the totalitarian agenda behind this "pandemic!

P.S. Merkel, like many other politicians, usually 'communicates' her plans through "sources" in the mainstream media ahead of time. It's called "expectation management" in order to mentally prepare the Proletariate of what's coming next.

Now more than 100 000 deaths in down under UK with 50.000 deaths since November. Also riots in NL versus lockdown to protect their health. Germany thinking about no international flights entering Germany. Virus and mutants seem very strong in the cold. Few Swiss clubs remain open.

When Germany is in big trouble, Merkel is now thinking about no international flight entering Germany. I agree EU have to protect more for our safety. I m pretty sure Switzerland should open earlier than August.
