My thoughts are that this is a reasonable intervention that errs on the side of caution. Numbers in Germany have been brought under control compared to the deep winter numbers. However, progress has seen stagnant due to the build up of cases on the Eastern border. A previously posted a map showed that the increase in cases were concentrated in Bavaria and Saxony with most of the rest of Germany being spared. If the Western borders begin showing a bump, it will only delay the German mongering scene even longer.

Oddly enough though, despite the rants about the British spreading their variant through Switzerland during the holiday ski season, the hot zones are not on the Southern border with Switzerland.

Ask Italians or Germans what they think about opened Swiss ski resorts attracting many UK, look what happened in Wengen on mid January when they had to cancel their legendary Lauberhorn, and now in Saint Moritz and Davos, but you seem to think you know better than Europeans? Germany is under very strict second lockdown since Christmas, even schools are closed there, also not essential stores, when not in France. Concerning COVID, some people get the infection and never know. I had it and had quite the opposite experience. I was lucky not to require hospitalization. This leads to higher levels of ethnic minorities with poor health education, worse exercise habits, less healthy diets, less access to grocery stores, and thus living with more chronic health conditions. Basically, while our French Casanova's criticisms show an obvious bias and disdain for all things American, it seems that the situation is no better in his own country or the other countries in his own back yard.
