It seems that a lot of the supply issue came from the fact that the EU nations were slow to approve the vaccines. Hopefully that just means that EU nations are just a month behind.

For the US, there was no so much an issue with friction between levels of government but more issues with lack of direction and coordination. The result is having some states with vaccination rates of 25% and some with less than 5%.

However there would now be a battle to convince EU citizens of its safeness & effectiveness after high profile incorrect criticism. Even today a German high ranking health minister was trying to convince his citizens of the safety in using AZ.

How ironic that the EU were recently enraged with AZ and the UK regarding lack of AZ vaccine supply but now due to incorrect public statements about it (especially President Macron) EU citizens are rejecting the vaccine.

The only reason I bother to post on this subject is I read so much doom & gloom on here and not all of it is actually factually correct.

Whether people don't believe in the vaccines or don't want the Pfizer or AZ is entirely their personal choice but they do need to be careful where they get their information from to arrive at a decision.
Having looked closely at the controversy about AZ vaccine, the issue seems to be related to the fact that AZ didn't include enough over 65 people in their clinical trials and so various governments are only recommending this vaccine only for younger people. This is simply because the AZ vaccine wasn't tested enough in elderly people and they need to wait and see more evidence that it works in such a frail population. US is also likely to reject permission to use AZ vaccine in US, so here is another big country having the SAME concerns as the EU.

I also live in the UK and we all know we are now under a sort of Tory dictatorship, which twisted the MHRA arm to speed up approval of AZ vaccine. In the end MHRA was forced to approve the vaccine, but with reservations and subject to continued monitoring. Also the UK strategy to give only one dose of the vaccine instead of two, so that the vaccination numbers look good, may be a gamble the government is taking on people's lives. We all know the Tories don't care about people, in fact, among the few people (below 500,000 to date) that have received the two doses of the vaccine there are the Boris Johnson's parents and few other relatives of Tory MPs.

    Rock.

What "facts?" You were repeatedly asked to present proof of your anti-vaxer nonsense regarding alterations to DNA and immune deficiencies. Everyone has been waiting over a month, and thus shouldn't feel compelled to further entertain your deflections and dodges.

Probably the funniest move from you here was when you used these "America's frontline doctors" buffoons / quacks as a source for your Covid denialism. They naturally have the antivaxer angle going now, and one was just arrested for involvement in the Capital riot. In a word you are a joke. It makes no difference what you decide to call a "fact" or if your feet are on the ground in Germany. There are plenty of dumb people in Europe, just like everywhere else.

I'm comfortable with my contribution to help control the COVID situation this past year having not taken a single week off from the ICU. Likewise, I'm sure you'll comfortable with your position. Best wishes to you and yours.

Probably by the end of the year travel and other activities will be possible for people who can show the right QR code on an app on their phone.

The UK decided to make the aggressive play by going against the recommended dosing schedule and delaying the second dose, opting to use supplies to give more people their first vaccination. It seems that gamble is paying off as witnessed by their much improved situation.

Thanks for adding one more to Team Reasonable and Rational. My optimism is that the cool heads are the ones who remain silent. They are certainly wiser people than me. It's cool, the situation in the US and UK are much improved and I too share in your optimism. For all reasons that led to the EU states lagging behind on vaccinations, it seems that they are ramping up efforts. The rising cases in Eastern Europe gives me some pause but that situation will just need to be monitored. Germany did a good job addressing it pretty early so hopefully their partial Eastern border closer in combination with Europe's traffic light approach for inter EU travel will assure that Western Europe does not see too much of a bump in cases. My hope is that we'll continue winding down these cases, while putting out any brushfires as I'm sure some speed bumps will arise over the upcoming months.

I hold some reservations that as we approach critical mass in vaccinations, say 50%, that the pool of willing recipients of the vaccine will shrink, slowing down vaccination rates. Another issue may be as cases dwindle, younger and healthy people will delay their efforts to get vaccinated. There has to be a concerted effort to make getting the vaccine as effortless as possible as the slow appointment system will easily deter personal efforts. In my city, FEMA (Disaster response agency) and the National Guard has set up a drive through vaccination clinic. As supply increases, more of these setups will be of most importance.

You can't imagine how I loved so beautiful Wallis where I spent my youth best part for nearly all my holidays, about 2 months for 10 years, I learned more ski there than in France, even I turned to free ride after 18 yo in France. I remember when in Summer we slept in mountains. But I discovered behind the curtain, like drugs business, being informed by Albanians, and I will never forgive how they treated me. Even more difficult to reach, but now I prefer to go to Breuil. It than Zermatt, I could only make exception to break my runs records in Verbier, I will think if I can reach from Aosta, I m sure on this way, no one will follow me. I wonder what happen in Saint Moritz or Davos which are out of control after Wengen, not same laws for rich.

Nobody is able to predict the future of this pandemy, the crowd needs positive infuse so give them the vaccine to eat. The coming months will demonstrate how efficient the vaccine are, Pfister and co are already testing new formulation why if the current one is so efficient? 1 year back I was described as a very negative and pessimistic guy when I was saying this pandemic will take years to be solved, today the situation is worse than even I could imagine and obviously many mongers on this forum ere saying normal life will be back mid of 2020. I believe in the vaccine but I believe also that the virus is always mutating by principal and that the the Pfister and Moderna vaccine are mostly targeting the spike protein which is a challenging approach in case of important mutation.

American deaths on Superbowl Sunday (7. Feb) was 480 K. It is now 510 K. That's 30 K, quite a bit less than 100 K. Real facts and figures:

I'm pretty sure Biden told about only 400.000 on superbowl when old Brady taught how to play to others, but he should not drink so much. But when I m not afraid of speed, sliding over quattro and super soft tires grip even on dry track, jumping to free ride among rocks or between crevaces even I'm very careful in these spots, maybe why I m not dead yet after so many years, about 30 years of extreme runs, when starting at 20 yo with what were called rodeo girl cars, H3 E21 improved, then RS500 Cosworth improved on 964 turbo power, when 964 was the last real one, with engine refreshed by air, but never crashed anybody but only me alone, but I m more scared, when we fight now versus mutants in Western Europe, France will go to 100 000 deaths, after UK, on 2021 which will kill more than 2020, when not enough vaccine in EU. If I could leave my work field, but I have to go daily to check safety, when I need so much to go in my mountains, to fly closer to the sky. As soon Italy open, I will make a scratch run through mountains, to go to fly like a free bird I am.

  15. #3482
You're becoming really picky. Professor Xavier from the UK is sending all of his mutants to conquer Europe (or maybe Magneto I'm not so sure), evil Switzerland prepares itself for world domination with chocolate and watches, the cumulative number of deaths still increases in USA, Romania lost one third of his population because of the pimps, that's checked facts!

Oh and I forgot: Sweden has defeated the virus in August!
