The USA and Europe are one, they will always be. Russia is separate and on its own, so is China. Russia and China came closer after the US invaded Afghanistan and then vowed to provide a common front if the US attacked one. That has not always been so. Russia and China used to be at loggerheads against each other and had some border disputes in the past. These countries know that any future war involving all of them will result in the end of civilization as we know it.

I partially agree with you but the above stuff used to be the case. Things are changing. The far right dunderheads in the US find more common cause with Putin and Russia than W EU. China is allies w / no body. China / Xi. Putin bromance is at best a mutual interest convergence between authoritarian regimes but temporary. In the longer run, RU will always be at risk from China. Siberia is already being overrun with Chinese workers. Chinese workers in RU are like Mexican and LatAM immigrants in the US. RU's population is declining and it is a tenth the size of China and much weaker technologically and economically. Barring their nuclear weapons, etc. RU is a 3rd rate country, certainly in an economic sense. Their biggest firms are all in the energy and materials sectors in MSCI. That puts them in the same bracket as the LatAM countries and other 3rd world countries.

RU is a more sophisticated version of NK. It is about blackmailing the rest of the world with their nuclear weapons. At least RU has energy and that sustains their economy to some extent. But all the advanced countries create economic value through intellectual property, RU is still digging stuff out of the ground to eke out a living.

W EU is fractured and is an unnatural entity. They almost died in 2013/14 during the Grrek / S EU crisis and still might. Very weak national balance sheets, declining populations in some cases, massive welfare states, lack of compelling technologies, and dis-spirited youth populations that can't find meaningful jobs till even 30's. Sad to say, Europeans always had a weaker work ethic than Americans did and getting worse. Their best and most entrepreneurial minds are constantly setting companies in the US. I can name several, which would have made a huge difference to EU but set shop in the US; we are clearly benefiting from that brain drain and will continue to do so. Even companies like EPAM, one of the few IT services companies out of Russia / Belarus is listed on Nasdaq and in the long run will always look to be here than there. That is one of the very few meaningful tech companies out of Russia.

The most dangerous strategic adversary for US is China, by far. I hate CCP beyond words can say but they are extremely insidious and yet formidable opponent, far more than RU ever was. All the way to 1990's while RU could obliterate the world with its nuclear weapons, they were a house of cards on the economic front. I wish I could say the same about China.
