I think you missed the point. The decision to allocate x percent to sovereign debt, why to corporate, z to US stocks, z1 to them stocks etc is made by people much higher up in the hierarchy, namely political appointees. The well being of that fund impacts all of Norway and they don't leave that decision to some MBA from the US. The average PM just manages a small amount (in their case, even small amounts to one or two billion) and s / he may well beat his bogey handily but the allocation decision has a much bigger bearing on the total returns of the fund. While I Believe that the original poster has self-serving interest in discussing this topic, the topic of trans humanism is not science fiction. The main idea is advancing the human condition. Things like prolonging life and enhancing cognitive ability are very real. The OP speaks in abstracts with technical word vomit, but the we are already living in the early stages of transhumanism. Nootropic drugs that enhance our mood and cognitive ability are already in use in the form of antidepressants, antianxiolytics, stimulants, and drugs that combat Neurodegenerative disease of old age such as Alzheimers, Huntingtons, and Parkinsons disease. The future of technology such as augmented reality, enhanced eye and ear implants with super human capabilities are already in development. The final stage that you refer to as science fiction involves eternal life and uploading consciousness. They are far out, but are certainly feasible endeavors that can be achieved.

Plus we can always use chips that are vastly larger than the small ones being used today. Think billions of times faster compute structured as a brain, in order to enhance AI abilities. And this can be done in just 10 years if not for economic incentives to hold it back and slowly release it, such as Moores Law basically is.

Computing power is just obstacle. Data scarcity, especially the collection and implementation of good unbias data poses an equal challenge.

Sentiency may be the biggest obstacle with no solution in sight as we don't even have a rudimentary understanding of it. As such, AI's potential is limited by the fact that AI will remain a machine subject to the bias of the creator. Even with all the data and computing power in the galaxy, it must be programmed by a human or a machine / algorithm developed by humans. As such, it's potential is limited by the boundaries of human imagination. That is a process that cannot be shortcutted. True AI in our lifetime remains a huge question mark unless we unlock the mystery of what sentiency really is. Human sentiency is currently restricted to our own primary motivation: the need to procreate our race. As such, the highest level of AI will be limited by our primary mission: survival and preservation.

All of this talk about transhumanism is incongruent with the author's disdain for current pharmaceutical technology. He believes in the future advancement of human capabilities but shuns the current advancements that will help get us there. Medicine, vaccines, and nootropic drugs are just the beginning of performance enhancement but instead of embracing those things, he opts for "natural" remedies that are much less effective. Ray Kurzweil himself takes over 100 pills per day, not just natural supplements buy also common diabetic and cholesterol medications, not to mention a few nootropic drugs. There are obviously potential harmful effects that must be managed and improved upon but the same will have to be done with AI technology as the field progresses. Yet the poster expresses zero apprehension it its advancement. We are much closer to Terminator 2 Skynet than we are to unlocking the science behind quantum physics and quantum biology yet his concerns are more focused on the latter.

Well, mostly true but some caveats and counter examples.

1 a. Weed has only been considered an illicit within the past 100 years. Furthermore, that trend started in Anglo / Euro countries because it was a substance often used by third-world populations. In the USA, there was a cultural bias element. Previously, we used the term cannabis or even hemp. In legal verbiage, political activists purposefully code switched to the word "marijuana" in oder to attach it to the Mexican population. In England, the British colonies started regulating way before England itself. British colonies in India and Southeast Asia had the same views toward weed and indigenous populations as Americans had for Mexicans. The rest of the world followed suit in the 20th century as American-British culture began its dominance. The history of weed being a criminalized substance has been too much determined by cultural attitudes than actual science.

1_b. Other drugs are and have always been used by the elite class for years if you are to consider them winners. Stimulants are used more by successful people than the poor class. Opium was the drug of the kings. Weed was used by the royal families of Europe to treat pain. Western elite military forces and the US Air Force have been using stimulants such as amphetamines and modafinil for over half a century to perform at their peaks mentally and physically. Japanese and German WWII pilots used to use methamphetamines for focus and alertness.

And my favorite: Arnold Schwarzenegger, American's greatest Immigrant, used the hell out of steroids and weed to rise to fitness-entertainment and eventually political fame.

Unfortunately, I do not have sufficient knowledge, neither do I have time to analyse about this new world order, to judge or to argue against this theory.
