The nasty old UK got their act together & signed vaccine contracts early then paid a high rate for them. The EU in their typical bureaucratic way dithered, argued for a cheaper price and now are paying the consequences for a delayed supply. It's pathetic of you & others to blame the UK for the inadequacies of the EU machine.

As much as I greatly dislike Johnson's government and the Brexit fall out they did at least get something right in procuring the vaccine contracts quickly & efficiency as opposed to the EU.

So stop blaming the UK and start looking at Ursula von der Leyen and her cronies.

And don't forget Countries don't make the vaccine & sell it but private companies do. It's up to the Countries to secure decent contracts with those Companies which makes it irrelevant whether the vaccine is made in the UK or EU.

Even if you hypothetically are ridiculously generous and give him that those numbers are off my and entire magnitude of 10 x, resulting in 2.8 million hypothetical covid deaths (they're not) but let's just pretend. Let's say that got up to 5 million by the end of the year. That still barely makes a dent into reaching 30 million deaths by the end of 2021. There would literally have to be 10's of millions of unaccounted deaths in the western world for that to be remotely possible.

2. South-Africa seems to count about a third. But other nations maybe just 1-3%. In Tanzania the president there still claims the entire covid thing is a hoax.

So your vaccine is quite useless.

The vaccine is not a condom, vaccinated people can still come into contact with the virus but they don't develop the disease. So, they may as well test positive, but they will not develop the disease. When they say a vaccine is 90% effective, it does not mean that in the 10% of cases it doesn't even work. In that 10% of cases, people may experience some symptoms, if they come into contact with the virus, but not the serious disease that would require hospitalization.

My real worry is we are entering into a vaccine subscription model like a new smartphone every year / car or operating system that will dictate participation in border crossings etc. The economic dislocation is bad enough.

So your vaccine is quite useless.

I was just looking at the mutation rates on John Hopkins website yesterday and it took only 11 months for a strain of covid to reach 34 mutations in the spike protein alone! That was a record mutating speed however. The average is only about 15 mutations on the spike in 12 months. But it is picking up pace in places like India and Africa now as well. Which will counteract the vaccination pace.

Also, as soon you get vaccinated people, the only thing that will happen is that virus strains not affected by the vaccine will take over fully. It will seem like it protects to some degree, but we are really just talking about different curves for different mutation strains.
