Is the higher number of deaths in the West indicative of a poor response? To the author, that would be a yes. However, it seems 20-40 percent of the West would disagree with the author. Throughout ten months of the pandemic, the approval rate for Trump's pandemic response among Republicans has held steady between 77-86 percent. Among Democrats 6-27 percent. Number of deaths and hospitalizations, second and third peaks, do not seem to make much difference in public opinion.
