Headed back towards where Disney cruise ships dock and saw a massage place and decided to get relaxed. Coincidentally was in a Tijuana working girl house (Hong Kong) mid June 2015 and meet a working girl Maria who said she is originally from Cali, Colombia but has been working in Barco in Cozumel for a number of years.

I'm headed to Cozumel on a day trip from Playa and was wondering if anybody had any current info.

There are a number of Chica bars operating on Cozumel, some during the day when cruise ship passengers and crew are in town and some later in the evening.

Crew and Passenger bars- One upstairs across from the pier and Club Salsa just around the corner. Downtown is The Cigar Bar (daytime only) which is affiliated with Barco on the South side of town near the cruise ship docs.

Nightime Chica Bars: Barco, California (next to Salsa) La Pacha (just down the road and to the left) and the newly relocated Caribbean Queen (just further down from La Pacha (Very clean and nice but few Chicas) and Camarote (definitely locals only).

All the Chica Bars are similar in that the drink prices for patrons are reasonable but Chica beers are 200 pesos. All have lap dances and back rooms for more intimate sessions and all are similarly priced. Salsa has the least attractive women and Caribbean Queen and California have the best with Barco in between.

Since all girls in the bars are required to have licenses and regular medical exams I would recommend that you take comfort thee versus trying to get lucky on the streets which is both illegal and the women scarce. I have been going to because for 15 years and have never heard of any horror stories or ripoff places. But do stay safe!

Hello all!

I recently got back from a weeklong trip to the Yucatan, and I wanted to post some thoughts.

If you are a scuba diver, this place is heaven! I dove both in the ocean and in the cenotes, which are underground freshwater caves. That was an experience of a lifetime!

Unfortunately, in regards to punting, the area is fairly barren. In Cozumel, I stopped by both La Pacha and Barco, both at about 11 pm. La Pacha is bar setup as one big room, no stripper pole or stage that I remember. It looks like a typical Mexican bar, if that means anything. It was VERY dark. There were about 5 girls there, three seated together near the light, two others way in the corner in the dark. The rated below a 5. None of them were appealing. The bar is reasonable, about 30 pesos for a beer. There was only one other person in the bar. I didn't stay long.

Barco, on the other hand, is a well lit, small bar. You can tell that its been recently renovated, mostly painted in white with new art deco type furniture. There were also about five girls in there. A little more appealing than La Pacha, but not much. I would say they rated a 5. The bar here is more expensive, about 50 pesos / beer. Girls didn't talk prices openly here, but that's posted elsewhere. I didn't stay long here either.

To the other posters who were asking about hotels, I would recommend staying in town. I stayed in the southern hotel zone, near the punting bar area. This was way out of town, further than the tourist books suggest. All the best restaurants and bars are in town, and its too far to walk, about a one hour walk. As the punting bars here suck, I would just stay in town, unless you dive. Most of the southern zone hotels are dive resorts. For in town hotels, I thought that the Vista del Mar hotel was a good choice. I almost stayed here, and after I stopped by to visit it, I regretted not doing so. Its relatively inexpensive, and right in the middle of things.

And BTW, when in Cozumel, definitely visit the best taco joint I visited in all of Yucatan – LOS Diaz. Its right next door to the other, more famous tacqueria, El Pique, but it is definitely superior. Tacos with good, quality cuts of meat. You can see it on the pastor spit – lots of solid filet meat, little fat. I ate there four times.

In Tulum, there is a "Main St. " called Tulum Ave that runs east-west and defines the town. There is a bar / nightclub called "Cabaret" on the eastern edge of town, on Tulum Ave, towards the beach. I stopped by twice. Once at 10 pm, when it was totally empty, and once at 11 pm, when there were about 4-5 people in the bar. Its dim, but lit enough to see girls faces. There is a stripper pole and stage, with girls dancing periodically. There were about 6-8 girls in here. The best girl was a 6, the rest below. I didn't stay long.

I had visited Playa del Carmen in the past. Not much reasonably priced action in that town, so I didn't bother. I didn't visit Cancun.

The thing you have to remember about the Yucatan is that, although it is Mexico, the majority of the people here are Mayan in ethnic background, not the "Spanish" Mexican seen in the rest of Mexico. Mayans people as a whole are quite friendly, with a fantastic history and cuisine. But the girls are generally shorter, darker skinned, and get heavier at a younger age. That being said, I have noticed that Mexican women in general peak at about 24 years of age. After that, they nearly all get fat. There is no such thing as a Mexican MILF. I guess its all that fried food.

All in all, Yucatan Mexico is a great place to visit. Just not a prime punting destination, unless you REALLY have blue balls.

Happy to report Barco is alive and well. They have done some work on the inside of the place. Mainly looks like a paint job and they got all new neon colored chairs! Actually looks pretty good. I was in there tonight and there were more girls than I've ever seen at one time in the place. May have something to do with time of year (I'm usually here in February / March or August).
