Yes, that is a good base to explore estiticas (casas) and GDL in general. Great prices for hotels in that zone right now. Usually 100/ night or more. You can search wider area from Arcos Vallarta to Americana. Lots of safe zones to walk and stores, eateries, clubs a plenty to enjoy. Ave Chapultepec is the heart of the entertainment district there. Enjoy.

I normally do P4 P in SEA but as we know its currently shut down, so I'm looking at Mexico. I am thinking of hitting GDL for a few days in January. What would be a good location for a hotel if I am hitting mostly esteticas (Casas)? Bar Arandas: I wanted to hear some live music, so I took an Uber to this place. This area is very sketchy especially at night.
