It takes a little longer but people will be able to understand you and you will be able to understand people speaking Spanish. They have to speak a little slower and speak clearly into your cellphone but you will be able to understand what they say. As to spending time with girls in her room when they don't speak any English, I never found it to be a big issue. Sex is a universal language and everyone can figure out what the other person wants with non-verbal gestures and a little Google Translate. As in the title I can only more than agree with MoonShot, yes speaking the language clearly helps but it's definitely not a reason to not consider it.
