It is usually like that with the Mexican airlines. If you can check in on line and not check bags, that is an advantage. In Mexico City, the lines were awful. I have seen cheaper airfares on Mexican airlines but my hesitation on Mexican airlines is due to the fact that the lines at the GDL airport for the Mexican airlines is crazy long. It is probably because they handle domestic and international flights. But each time I am at the GDL airport, I do notice those long long lines for the Mexican airlines. It is not a problem flying out from the USA but it is a problem flying out from GDL.
