Received one ticket in mail here in US during summer and one was waiting me at passport control not too long ago. Nowhere did I see where did I commit this offense and by how much did I exceed the limit. There is implicit maximum speed limit for entire country so if you don't acquaint yourself with that part and simply move with the traffic, the odds are you are going to get one of these sooner or later. The fact that I never got a speeding ticket in US for last 30 years and got two while driving in Switzerland for handful of weeks should make you ask some questions. But this is not the point of my post. While I was coming back from freubad at night, I noticed someone following me close by. I immediately suspected it was police but was not familiar with Swiss headlights to be sure. But few minutes later the polizei sign on top lights up and immediately after stop polizei. They ask for my driver license and registration and I give them my rental papers. While questioning me, they tried hard to nail me. It was almost comical but can't laugh in that situation. They made me blow into breathalizer twice. The shined flashlight at my eyes looking at my pupils and scrutinized hands. And then followed with dumb questions like Did you do any drugs. Took pictures of my car and finally let me go. They obviously waited for patrons from the club. That's really shitty practice. I don't drink when I go to these clubs at all but I wonder what would happen if I had a drink or two. It's interesting that since I finished club visit with a long sauna session, it made me completely indifferent to the entire thing. My blood pressure didn't spike one bit.

Parking tickets and also speeding tickets do have statue of limitation though! I had some fines from long ago and the swiss authority even sent tickets to my house! But after some years it stopped coming and after many years when I got bored with German FKK I returned to Switzerland, they did not stopped my at border at passport control! So it seems they have some statue of limitation after many years though!

Yes, erased after 3 years for small fines: not high overspeed, nor alcohol, nor drug when driving. When so many Swiss take drug I don t need.
