I have been to Monterrey and really liked the setup with the strip clubs and being able to take a lady for a couple of hours out of there (110 to 125us) What is the closest thing to that in Juarez? What's it cost? I want somewhere like a strip club where you can sort of scope them out for a while before making the choice. After reading other adventures in other bordertown forums on ISG, it feels like they're just going thru the motions until the passport only factor kicks in. Like a trial run and an extention for us to get used to the fact.

I think there may have been some pressure on them on the passport only thing at the time.

I'm getting the idea that the Border agents have either been bluffing about their authority to hold out for an "official copy" copy of our birth certificates OR that they really have no way of telling which one is an official county-produced version & which one I reproduced a year or so ago on my pos all-in-one.

Can it be that some counties are simply photocopying them in a manner that there is no way for the agents to know which counties make doc-quality ones & which counties make pos ones?

My guess is that's the next thing the crooked cops in Juarez will take from us, our passport. Don't pay the mordida, and they take your passport.

My two centavos...I know as fact that there is a huge black market for stolen US passports in Costa Rica, and I know two people that had them stolen specifically (i.e., the thieves didn't take other valuable stuff). Its just a matter of time, IMHO, before this practice will be widespread in Mexico as well. Be very careful with them gents. While I have a passport, I'm gonna use the Birth Certificate as long as I can.
