Anybody here know how this scam works? I'm wondering if the object is filled with drugs, and when you decide to "split the money," a cop shows up, and you're busted for drugs. You have to pay a big fine, and then cop gives the scam artist some of the money? I'm just wondering how this scam works.

Split the money and the "real" owner shows up and wants ALL the money back, not just the part you actually got, and possibly claiming it was a lot more than it actually was. Threatening to call police. Press charges, if you won't pay.

Today I was walking down Av. Juarez and suddenly a young man showed me something the size of a baseball and asked me if I had dropped it while walking. I said no. Then, he said,"Are you sure? Look, it has money inside." I assured him I was not interested and then he said the two of us should "share" the contents. I then re-assured him that I was not interested and moved on.

About a year ago I had this same little trick played on me while walking down Francisco Villa, and I politely declined at that time as well. Am told this has also happened in other countries. Hey guys I don't come around much anymore because I rarely get to CJ but I had a good experience today and I want share her.
