When I was in monterrey and I was a victim of extortion because one of the girls I was with accused me of something that I didn't do and demanded 4 thousand dollars. I had to move and luckily a mutual friends did protect me and help me with new friends. I was a really easy target because I was alone and spending lots of cash.

I made the mistake of making good friends but eventually some of those people will try to set you up, up to several thousand dollars. There are very clever ways they extort money and their families will be in on it too.

Hard answer, I know people here, that I can, and do, trust with my life. Others I trust about as far as I can throw them. It can take years to build a real trust, or just a few weeks, it's all in the actions of the people that you meet. I walk into some bars, the only gringo in sight, before I sit down I have a beer in hand, some times paid for, and some times because they know what I drink. Best I can say, is trust no one until you know them, and they prove trustworthy. If you are a stranger, in a low life area, everyone is your "friend". Do not believe anyone that calls you amigo that does not know you, they are trying to gain your confidence, without earning it.

They see me and even tho I speak Spanish pretty good, they can pick out I'm a Chicano or Hispanic "werito".

And people I've never seen in my life at some of the bars will come up t me and be like "Hello, meee frrrriiien, ju rememberer me. I'm "insert name)" and try talking to you and will get you anything under the sun for a price of course and a few beers. And this is in acuna way smaller than NL but the scam still happens.

Cops don't normally mess with Americans in the open. Avoid walking alone on the back streets and you'll be fine. If you look like an easy target, you can easily be one. I see guys walking girls back to the hotel Fiesta every day, and yet to see a problem. However, knowing what I do, having seen what I have seen, I would never do that. I would just ask them to meet me at the Fiesta.

If I were you I would get with Bbond when in Nuevo Laredo. That's what I did. I met him at Emilianos and we went from there. Bbond is very well known there and be knows all the places to go and he gives good Intel. He gave me a nice tour of the downtown area and we went to several bars in the area. We even went to a bar that had Dos Equis beer for only 15 pesos, that's less than $1. His suggestion on chicas was very fruitful and accurate as I enjoyed myself, his company and the chica that he recommended. Bbond could be your Ace in the Hole if you play your cards right.

Do you recommend Nuevo Laredo or Matamoros for mongering?

Nuevo Laredo, because that is what I am familiar, I have never been in Matamoros, and see no reason for me to go there. Juarez was, for many years, my preference as I lived close to there, but reading the forum it has changed drastically, but I would still go, given the chance to do so.

Many guys visit with no Spanish speaking ability, most girls have at least some understanding of English, and they know why you are there. That bar is a safe as any in Nuevo Laredo, they want to keep customers happy, spending money, and returning for more. It is a bit difficult not being familiar with the area, but you will be OK. I know several of the guys that hang outside, some speak English very well, but are not always out there. But as a caution, I will tell you the showers in the short time hotels are seriously lacking, best is to get your own room. Many guys that I know stay in the Fiesta downtown, about a Motel 6 type place, but at least the showers work, and the toilets have seats. All the girls know that place quite well. The Fiesta has a sign on the desk saying visitors are not allowed in the rooms, I have never seen or heard of that being enforced, and know guys that take several girls there every night. I am usually around and able to show new guys around, I am downtown most nights. Usually after 8 pm, but can be there at any time, most nights. If you want to get laid, it is easy to do here. If you want a great experience, expect to pay for it, even then, good luck, you will need it.

I agree, one should have a tour guide or a leader in order to have a good time in Nuevo Laredo and who better than Bbond who has been actually living there for a very long time. As far as quality (1 to 10), are there 7+ girls available? Also, beauty can be in the eye of the beholder. One time at Herradura, the very last girl to be presented to me was the most beautiful in my eyes because even though she was tall, she had a banging booty.

I am going to Nuevo Laredo to meet up with a date I met on POF and I hope she is not a cartel member. My question is, do hotels that cost between 45 to 55 dollar normally have microwaves in the rooms? As I have said before, I have to cook my own food and a microwave would allow me to whip up some oatmeat quick. I also hope they carry soy milk at the wal-mart. I am going to pack a little George forman grill and possibly a portable blender in a back pack with clothes to last me a couple of days. I have to get smart about parking because 15 dollars per night for parking on the US side is 30 bucks for 2 days. This trip needs to cost me less than 150 in order for me to keep coming back to see my novias in Nuevo Laredo. I think if I take just one nice size back pack I won't stand out so much.

Why do the police target the girls?

Two reasons. 1) They are sent out to clean the streets of working girls. 2) The are looking to make some money, by ripping off the girls by threatening to arrest them unless they can come up with some cash.
