It is located on Guerrero en Centro. 1st block from the bridge. Right next to the liquor store.

It is the first bar as you walk from bridge 1, about 1/2 block south of the bridge. The Herradura is closed and has been for quite some time.

And, yes, at times there are lots of girls hanging outside there, but they never know when the police will do a round-up. I have seen the policia take 40 girls off the street, in one night.

Soon as you cross bridge one / pedestrian bridge its up one block and is on the right hand side of the road. Taxi will be right out front of the place most the times.

I was in there last night and there were about 15 ladies hanging out. It was early also, about 8:30 - 9:00. A small number of gals hanging out on the street. Maybe 4-5. They are out there you just have to strike up a conversation because they are working.

Do people ever walk around using their smart phones in public places? What about in some of the more retail areas like heb and walk mart?

Yes, since now there are so many places with free WI-fi. Plus people playing games that require no internet. For a while here the big thing was radio phones, people walking in the stores, and the idiotic ringers that were used, quite annoying. And yes, they even drive while talking or texting.

Hard answer, I know people here, that I can, and do, trust with my life. Others I trust about as far as I can throw them. It can take years to build a real trust, or just a few weeks, it's all in the actions of the people that you meet. I walk into some bars, the only gringo in sight, before I sit down I have a beer in hand, some times paid for, and some times because they know what I drink. Best I can say, is trust no one until you know them, and they prove trustworthy. If you are a stranger, in a low life area, everyone is your "friend". Do not believe anyone that calls you amigo that does not know you, they are trying to gain your confidence, without earning it.

When I went to nuevo progreso this past weekend I realized that there is actually P4P action but not out in the open. It would be the type of action that adheres to discretion and can be had if someone who knows where to find the action helps you get in contact or meet up with the ladies. I feel this way because the local Mexicans are very friendly. My question is whether I can actually trust these people or not? I would hate to get scammed since these people do in fact live desperate lives and desperate needs allot of times call for desperate measures. However, I have made friends in the past that do help me out in Mexico. However it can be dangerous. I once had a friend set me up in Monterrey, but if I am smart I can likely avoid those scams.

Nuevo Progreso was definitely busy Friday and Saturday during the day and while I wasn't there to monger, I saw some of the most beautiful young people I have ever seen in my life. And on top of that, they are the friendlist people I will probably ever meet. They are definitely not feminist over there like it is reported to be in the United States. If I didn't live in San Antonio I would be dating these girls around the Rio grande Valley. So, I am planning on going again and again and hopefully maybe even meet up with Bbond whom I truly admire and respect.

I am in Nuevo progreso at a dentist office waiting for my friend to get her teeth worked on. I will have to come back tomorrow also. I am going to venture into this town further but so far I am happy to be back in Mexico since many years ago. There are lots of people crossing over from the US side into Nuevo progreso and the streets look very busy here.

As far as Reynosa, I decided not to go there due to the dangerous situations many people have found themselves in over there.

I would hate to cross by foot looking like easy tourist targets with luggage and all. I just want to cross into Mexico in taxi and be taken directly to my hotel. Thanks.

Of course you can, not all taxis can, nor will cross, but one can be found. Same applies in return to the USA.

I think, after various posts, Gringo2, and the other names the he / she employed, needs to come down and visit. Learn the internet is not the real world. See first hand what we are up against here, the benefits, the downfalls, all can not be adequately described to a non visitor. I can't, and won't recommend anything, I can only report what I know. What is cool with me others may find disturbing, come down, get your feet wet, you like it or you don't, it's all what you make of it. Example, myself, and various others like staying at the Motel Fiesta, others find it not so good, it's all in what you prefer. Some girls I get outstanding service from, other guys don't do so well with the same girl. I get outstanding service from girls that you will never see in a bar. They expect discretion, so you may never know them. But asking many, many, questions will learn you nothing. Come on down.
