I just went back and read posts from around Memorial Day last year. I don't remember how the situation was then. Last few weeks the Montera has just been stupidly full on Friday and Saturday, sometimes just fighting the crowd to get to the restrooms in hard. People, mainly men, standing around. Especially bad when a certain group of truckers hit, they come in droves. The other bars will be just empty, usually a waste of time even to look in them. Hopefully this Memorial weekend won't be to bad, maybe some of the usual truckers will stay home and vacation with the family.

I was talking last night with a beer truck driver, he said he delivers an average 1000 cases of Tecate products to the Montera weekly, sometimes a lot more sometimes less. Along with about 1000 cases of Tecate Light babies, the little ones you pay 10 pesos for, and pay the girls 15 pesos to drink 1/2 of. Yes you pay 25 pesos, she gets a ficha worth 15 pesos for every one you buy. Funny to watch a guy buy a bucket of 6 babies for girls, and then watch the girls pour those little beers right back into the bucket when he ain't looking.

Was down last weekend at Montera and it was crazy packed on Saturday. Does Montera get even worse on Cinco De Mayo?

Let's say they make a quarter on every beer they sell. 24000 x. 25 = $6000 a week. Now the little bottles, let's assume they make. 15 on each one. 24000 x. 15 = $3600 a week. That's in the range of $9600 per week. Assuming freebies and breakage let's take it down to $8000 per week. I know this next number is high but say they have wages, electricity, tv, repairs, cleaning supplies (LOL) which equal $3000 a week. That leaves $5000 a week. Let's say they pay the Narco's $1000 a week to be left alone. That leaves $4000 a week x 52 weeks = $208, 000 a year. That is a respectable amount for a business to run in any country.

Bbond, are there any vacant buildings in the area?

Those numbers are a bit low, they sell the bigger beers for 15 pesos each at night. 12 daytime, selling much more at night than daytime, they probably cost wholesale about 5 or 6 pesos, the babies sell for 10, cost about 4-5 pesos. I used to buy cases of Victoria and Corona for 160 pesos, about 6. 67 pesos per bottle, I am certain they get better wholesale prices. Also that is just Tecate brand products, may be the biggest sellers, but they also sell the other line too, which a lot of people, myself included, drink.

Beers that I know are sold in the Montera, may be more than these, I don't pay that close attention.
