The other night, after a job in Laredo, and needing to travel the next day, I left my car at the bridge parking to avoid early morning bridge traffic. All is well except about 1/2 way across the bridge I realize my passport is still in the car.
I went home to apartment, got my expired passport, returned to bridge and explained to customs/border security what I had done. They scanned the expired passport and allowed me to enter the US to retrieve my normal passport. I decide to try the expired passport late at night when foot traffic was light, and had no problems.

How is transportation?

Are cabs waiting by the border?

When leaving downtown, do you have to wait for a cab or are they right by the hotels?

What color are the licensed cabs in NL?

If you stay at the Matamoros or Fiesta, no transportation is needed.

Cabs are normally at or close to the border, white/yellow in color, but you don't see illegal cabs here. Some legit cabs use their meter, some just quote you a price, some do both.

Cabs usually cruise the clubs at night close to closing time. But be advised the closer to closing time, the more business the cabs have, and you may have to wait a few minutes.

Last night in front of the Montera, I talked to a "guide", Carlos, he confirmed what I have said for sometime, they can spot a newbie a mile away.

Yahoo keeps posting horror stories. I went Thursday and it seemed fine. I noticed the girls vanished around midnight or Good Friday morning. I was busy drinking beer until 2 at Herradura. Asked waiter to find me a girl instead of roaming the streets. Ended up with an oldie but she had a tight clam. She also only wanted 30 dollars.

I will try Matamoros hotel and Montera this weekend 4/9/10 if anyone wants to meet up. You can PM me.

NOTE: The Montera and the Herradura will be closed on Sunday (as will most other bars), but the owner of the Intimo assures me they will be open.
