Boystown is now in a transformation stage. Many new bars, including the famous Montera Bar from downtown is relocating there. It is being heavily guarded (and not by the local authorities either). Severe penalties for those who abuse. Expect a resurgence, never be like the old days. But expect it to improve greatly over what it has recently been.

Great report, but this does not change how dangerous Laredo is, especially at night. Just not worth the risk.

It was announced that more bars had been given permission to re-open, so this weekend should see a least some of them open.

Anyone local in NLaredo know if they still have power / heat / and water? And groceries? And if gringos can check in to a hotel room?

You will be fine, just call the hotel. The roads are clear. I am heading back to Austin tomorrow. I will be grinding away at Tree Damage for the next several months. Life is good. Stay safe and warm.

There are hardly any bars open downtown. There are bad boys all over the city fully armed. They are robbing people with Texas plates at stop lights called clandestine checkpoints. I know this from first hand experience but got let go because they knew the waiter that drove me back to my hotel and waived us on. Not worth it. Not worth your life. If Bbond tells me to stay away from BT then I know to stay away.

What is the best course of action if someone wants to run to Laredo and buy some boner pills and get some action? Are the bars open and if so what are the hours to get a lady. I always stayed at hotel fiesta and hit the bars around 10 or 11 PM.

A couple bars are open at night, but nothing compared to the past. Action, should you choose to call it that, now is mainly in the street, within the first 3 or 4 blocks from the bridge. Most girls hang out around the old market, or within a block from there, at night. Malinche, Safari and Arizona are the open bars, and can get busy Friday and Saturday nights.

I live here, 12 years now, I am not afraid to venture anywhere. But I will tell you, if you are unaware of the dangers, and the precautions that you must take, then this is no place for you.

Well, I am aware more than ever now and choose to stay away. My first clue should have been when my friend from there got killed a few years back. Thanks.

Laredo is not safe after dark, it has been like this for several years. Day time is ok, but get your stuff done and get out.

Granted I haven't been to NL since last February. I haven't done much of anything since I left there because of covid. But this has not been my experience about being around after dark. And I would say I would probably make a good target and I take plenty of risks and stick out like a soar yet I haven't been robbed or shot.

Anytime Drama. Nuevo Laredo used to be a lot of fun when Papaguayos and the bars La Mina, Jorrochos and Montera were open. Now it is nothing but a hell hole. Acuna is not as bad but nothing much happening there. Guess I will stick to Hong Kong, Chavelas and Chicago in Tijuana. Take care!

One of the girls that works in a bar in BT drove over to my hotel to see me last Saturday night. She was delayed by an hour due to a shootout near the airport. While in a taxi, I spotted at least 4 or 5 trucks with 50 cal machine guns on top. And they were not the soldiers. You also need to be wary of checkpoints that are manned by certain individuals that will rob you. This place is dangerous as hell.
