    July 14th in Nuevo Laredo

Ok, so it had been over a year since I had been back in Nuevo Laredo and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I had heard about the violence and problems but had never had a problem myself and found it all a little hard to take. So, I drove down from San Antonio. It's an easy drive, 130 mile or 220 from Austin. I don't know how far it is from Houston.

I always try to park my car at a tiny little private lot on the US side. Usually at Davis Avenue and Water Street. I don't believe you should ever take your vehicle across for a number of reasons. First of all, the parking situation on the other side is a total mess and you will need to pay to park everywhere you go, not to mention that even though I've been going there for years I still get turned around on the one way streets. Add to those two reasons, the fact that most US auto insurance policies are not valid in Mexico clinches it for me. Sure you could get a one day policy for your car, but I feel the whole place is very similar to NYC.

I always find a parking lot where the owner lives nearby. It’s almost like parking in his back yard. You can make a deal with them and I normally pay $10-$12 per day. I've had very good luck with this and have always had great experiences. I don't leave them a key to my car and so I leave most of my valuables well hidden in my car. I never take your computer but I don't worry about taking your camera into Mexico. I have tried the municipal lots but always felt to exposed. Also, there have been times when I didn't really know what I was going to do and considered sleeping in my car. When I've been gone for a week or more it always makes sense to use these private lots. They will often wash your car and you will be glad that you didn't just stable your car at some garage.

So, I walk to Covent St, which is about 5 blocks to the East and a one-way street running North. This is the street with the bridge and is a quick walk across the Rio Grande. If you need anything that you think will be hard to get on the other side there is an HEB at Matamoras Street and Flores which is just a few blocks north. I always seem to forget something I think I need and do my last minute supply run.

You then need to go back South on Convent Street and cross the border on foot. I know there are cabs that will take you across but as I walk across the bridge the lines are always backed up for hours. It only costs 50 cents to walk and although they have recently upgraded the US side its still the same drill. You walk up some stairs, down some stairs and then out over the water.

As soon as you cross the border, you will be met by a Mexican Customs agent. Normally they just flag you through but if they do stop you, tell them your going to hang out, do some shopping and see the sites. Do not try and pet their drug dogs. Although they are good looking dogs this will not endear you to the agents whom have very little in the way of humor. Once you cross, you will find yourself on the main street, which is Guerrero Street.

I never carry any baggage larger than a backpack and inside that I don’t carry much. My toothbrush/paste, some aspirin for the hang over I'm going to have and maybe a change for clothes. I NEVER wear a nice watch; I ditch all but one credit card (incase of emergencies) and keep all my cash on me but in several spots. Although I never have had a problem with bribes or pickpockets, I always feel better to know that if I get robbed, or shaken down, I know I have a reserve. Therefore I always split up my cash. I put $100 in my pocket, $200 in my bag and $100 somewhere else (I’ll explain later).

Once you are in Mexico, you will be met with a wall of people who are sitting along the borders waiting to sell you something. Men say "hey, mister you need pharmacy, girls, boys, beer, taxi, boystown? What you want I get for you?" ignor them. Give them a firm but polite "No, gracias para NO!”. Just don’t look at them. If they whistle at you or shout “hey man” the best thing you can do is just ignor them and keep walking. They’ll give up as there is another gringo coming in 5 minutes. If you do happen to meet their eye and get locked into a conversation about what you are looking for. I usually choose something that there is very little market for and something that isn’t illegal. I like “batteries” or “vanilla”. They look totally lost and you keep walking. DON’T say cigarettes, hammocks, doctors, girls or a ride.

The next thing I do is change my money into Pesos. Currently the Peso to Dollar exchange is 1:10.85. Since everything you can/will want on your trip is sold I dollars, you don't have to do this but if a girl wants $50 bucks and you give her 500 Pesos you've saved $4.20. This works with everything from food to beer to girls and the nearly 10% off is well worth the time. I consider it the Mexican Discover card. I usually change about $200 - $300 and then I keep $100 in US currency in a really odd place like a date book or something that looks non-valuable. I know have $100 in pesos in my pocket for walking around money. If I get hit up for a bribe or robbed its enough to look believable without ruining my trip. I also know when my pockets and my other $200 in pesos are gone that I still have my $100 US in reserve and but, its time to start heading home.

Well, next on this trip I go find myself something to eat. I like going to the smaller places off Guerrero Street. If you walk for a few blocks off the drag you are completely safe and the mom/pop Mexican places are better and cheaper, though they are less likely to speak English, it normally isn’t a problem.

As, I’ve said, the main street on the Mexican side is Guerrero. Almost 4 blocks up from the border on the West side of the street is the Mercado. The Mercado is a good place to know and the only place that I ever drink Margaritas (the water guys). The only problem is that it is filled with people trying to sell your ass something. Horse rides, stuffed frogs, hammocks, hats, you name it they got it. Once inside you are pretty save and you can get a drink and walk around and look at the shops without much hassle. I like to buy a Cuban cigar here and get a frozen drink and watch the people. The toilet here is disgusting. It’s a pay to crap affair where with your entrance fee they will give you three squares of paper. Hold out for restaurants if you can but if not expect to be disgusted.

Anyway, between the Border and the Mercado on Guerrero there are plenty of gringo places and I normally hang out there for a while and look for other white dudes. They don’t look like much, normally like a liquor store with a bar in the back and they are blaring really obnoxious music. If you find some other gringos, chances are they are going to Boystown so made friends and wait. The cost of a cab from town should be $10.00 but they will try to charge you $15-20 if they feel like it or they think you look stupid/gullible. I've gotten them down to $5.00 before but these were gypsy cabs and I will not risk this again. This is a good way to end up in a ditch with no money. Hold out for the white cars with the yellow details and the lighted sign on top and be prepared to pay $10.00, still splitting the fee with 3 other guys is a better deal and you’ve got some instant chums to help watch your back.

On this trip, I met a guy who is from Dallas but lives in NL now. He told me that Boystown was a pain in the ass these days and invited me to go bar hopping with him to a few cathouses in town. When in Rome, go with it. This guy didn’t approach me and he looked like he knew the score.

We first went to La Matera. It is on the South side of the street across from the Mercado on Hildago Street at Guerrero. The scene there was horrible. Although the girls were cheap ($40) the quality was horrible. I only saw one 6 the entire time I was there and she was having her period and only scamming drinks.
The place was miserable for me. It was so packed you couldn't move and hot as all hell. Combine this to the notion of ugly fat women and I was ready to leave. There was no cover and the beers were only $2.

We then left and he took me to another bar called the Horse Shoe. It was one block to the East but one street over from Guerrero but on the corner of Hildago. It was slightly nicer than the Matera, but it was still hot, still crowded and still fat/ugly women. I spoke with a few girls and got the drill. You pay for a room above at $20.00 and she leaves with you for 40 minutes, but I wasn't gong to this direction. So, my opinion is that the places in town are far closer but the quality is non-existent. There were a ton of gringos in these places having a great time. I even saw two separate guys doing some serious tonsil swabbing with the ladies but there was nothing there in my opinion worth considering.

I then convince my new traveling buddy and that we needed to go to Boystown. We get there and it is a little slow. It's just after midnight and there are some real honeies in Papagayos. I was convinced that I was going to branch out and not just hang out in Papa's but I had seen this blonde as I walked in and decided that she was my first victim. The beers are now fullsize now and are $2.00. I don't remember what the lady drinks cost but I think they were 3 dollars but they do have a little booze in them.

Well I called Lydia over to my table. For some reason, I refuse to send for a woman and do not go and get one. I let them come to me. I'll wave at them but I'm not begging a ***** to come to my table. If she wants the business they can shake there ass on over. I end up sitting with her and buying her a drink. She asks me for a cigarette but I tell her I will not do it until she gives me a kiss. For a moment she refuses and I'm happy to know this information now. If a girl is giving me shit now then when we are alone in the room it will be horrible. She gave me the kiss (on the cheek) and I give her the smoke.

We make our deal and are quickly off to the room. She asked for $80 but I agree to pay her $60. She concedes and I must pay the room fee ($16). Back in the room, this chick was not very good. Although she had big thick lips and nice face and body, she also couldn't suck dick very well. She wouldn't open her mouth very wide and I keep getting back teeth on my dick. OUCH! So I start fucking her and I swear to god, I wore this ***** out. We did it standing up, on her back, doggy, cowgirl, reverse cowgirl and reverse standing cowgirl. It was a lot of work, but I nutted and she cleans me up with a towelette.

I go back out side and immediately swarmed by more girls. It's now 1:45 and there are more girls here now. I'm not ready to go again so I hang out and tell 1/2 a dozen girls that I will not buy then a drink so most of them leave. However, one girl, Sonya, sees that I'm tired from my previous session and offers to give me a message at my table. So, I sit there for 30 more minutes and have another beer while she kneads my back. Eventually, she wants to take me to a room. She promises me a shower massage and full body message if I will take her. I tried to get her to negotiate for Anal, but she will have none of it.

We went back and this girl was much better. Great shower, great massage and she could really fuck and suck. She wasn't the most gorgeous woman; maybe a 8-9 but she had great fake tits and a wonderful attitude. She lets me finger her ass hole but mainly she just fucks and fucks back. I grab those great big tits of hers and just hang on for my life. This was also for $60. After we finished and she was giving me the closing shower, I asked her if I could fuck her ass next time. I offered her $300 and she said she'd think about it. I'll never see her again since I don't go there often enough to see her before she moves on to her next vocational location.

I then ended up going to several parties in an around the town and they got pretty wild. But eventually I made it back to my motel for some rest. All and all this was a good trip to NL. It’s safe, very manageable and pretty damn cheap.

I was down there last year during Indepence Day and it was fine. Plenty of girls around. Danash and Papagayo had Mexican flags and other holiday decorations up. The meseros at Danash were extra formal and some of the girls were dressed up in gowns. Not a big party like they have for the holidays, but still a break in the routine.

The only bad time to go down there is during religious holidays Easter [and Holy Week] and Christmas to New Years. Most of the girls go home to be with family.

Actually, the other bad time to be down there is on election weekends when the bars close early on Friday night and stay closed until after the ballots close on Sunday due to Mexico's Ley Seca rules. I'm not sure if just the federal election of if the state elections are also under the law. Tamaulipas has its elections this November.

    Seen Adriana???

I went to BT in March and saw my favorite door girl Adriana. She has been on the front street for several years and usually has been there for a 2 week on/2 week off schedule each month. I went back in May and July and did not see her. Saw her sister in May and said that she was coming back, but again missed her. I spoke with a parking attendant that always helps me out, he said that she has been gone for at least a couple of months and heard that she was not coming back.

Question: Has anyone seen her or heard anything. For me, she was the reason I liked to go.

$60 -$80 is the norm, very few will ask $100, in Danash it's always at least $100. pullman has had some decent girls lately too, and always at least a few doable doors girls can be found for $20.

I've been there twice in past month. The weekend after Memorial Day we were frisked at the entrance to BT upon arrival by taxi, then sent on our way.Bt was busier than previous times so we looked around. Ended up as usual at Papagayos. Lots of girls and had good time. On the way back the bridge was shut down because of bomb threat for several hours. Had a long time to contemplate where I was at as crowd got pretty restless. Second trip at end of June found BT not as busy but Papa's was full. Saw Policia called into Tamnykas or whatever its called. It was a quick response by a bunch in back of pickup and we didn't hang around to find out what was going on. Went back and stayed at Papa's. Get taxi as soon as you cross bridge and go straight to Papa's then back by taxi and you will be OK.

Greyhound is about $62 round trip, cheap figuring what you would spend on gas anyway.
I know a few guys in Houston you maybe could carpool with, if you are interested in that.

You'll find the clubs in Boystown pretty slow on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Papagauyo will be open but without the top shelf talent that only works the weekend. Danash will probably be closed. There are door girls that work 24/7/365 but again, the quality is there on the weekends.

You might find more action at the bars Montera and Herruda in the downtown area during the week. Check a few pages back for those bars for more information. You make a date with the girl in one of the bars and then walk to a short time hotel nearby.

As to which side of the border you prefer for a hotel, you can get any accomodation from a shithole to a four star on either side of the border. The nicer hotels, the US chain Crowne Plaza and Hilton Garden Inn are about an $8 cab ride from the bridge and feature all the comforts of a similar hotel. These hotels are cheaper than the Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn on the Texas side.

If you think you might get a girl overnight, you'll have to stay on the Mexico side as your date probably doesn't have permiso to cross into the US. If she did, she'd be in the US.

On the Texas side there are two hotels within walking distance of the bridge. The La Posada which is very nice and very expensive but closest to the bridge. I'm drawing a blank on the other hotel, it is a round 6 or so story hotel that has seen better days. The tourist guides you can pick up at gas stations in on the way down sometimes has coupons. Farther away there are all sorts of hotels, but you need to drive to the parking lot at the river or take an overpriced Laredo Texas taxi.

Others might be able to help with low priced hotels near the bars downtown that have AC and hot water. You'll want AC. It is 92f right now and it 10 at night.
