Bbond, what do you know about this? Could a person call 088 to report police harassment?
"Sanchez also took the opportunity to announce the availability of a new app for smartphones, Android, IOS, and Blackberry. The app has a threefold purpose. The first is a hot button that dials 088, and connects the person immediately to the National Security Commissions call-center, allowing the motorist to report accidents and crimes, and receive an almost immediate response. A second button on the app allows the motorist to take photos & videos, and to send anonymously a complaint to the center. Sanchez Hernandez emphasized that at all times the citizen remains anonymous because the device is not georeferenced."

Thanks for a great report,
I wrote something similar on Reynosa which I liked a lot.
NL is closer and might check it out.
Cheers
[=Chris Long; 1465793]This is an introductory report on the NL monger scene, veterans to the scene please feel free to correct where I have made mistakes and please feel free to add anything I may have missed.
Nuevo Laredo (NL) is a Mexican border town across from Laredo Texas. Nuevo Laredo had / has a boys town (BT) a walled community where prostitution is legal, similar to the zone in Tijuana (Tijuana) and at one time rivaled Tijuana in terms of quality and quantity. Today however qvhvchjzit is just distant shadow of its former self. Corrupt police shaking down gringos for bribes, drug wars with killings car bombings and kidnappings killed BT and now it is just a shell of what it once was.
The action in NL is in the down town bars, there are two bars where you can find P4P the Montaro which is the main bar and then late at night after it closes the action moves a block down the street to the Jorochos bar.
When traveling to NL you want to cross from the USA side to the Mexican side on highway 35/83, right before you come to the border crossing you will see signs for parking on your right. Take the right follow the road down it will run right along the Rio Grande there will be a park along the river to your left and to your right you will find the secured parking. The lot is secured and I have never had any problems with my car when parking there. Cost is around $10 per day. Once you park there is a building next to the parking lot, go up the stairs and to your right and you will see the crossing for the bridge, there is a small fee of a $1. Or less to pass through the turn styles and cross the bridge. On the other side the Mexican security may have some cursory check but for the most part they just allow you to pass right through. Security in NL is now done by the Mexican military, there are some traffic police but they are only a problem if you decide...[/QUOTE]

Posts: 27Bbond, Looking for your help
Bbond,
I'm hoping you can help me. I'm looking for a girl by the name of Letty that I last saw in Nuevo Laredo last September. Long story short, my friend and I were at the Montera a couple of years ago and stayed out all night with a friend of ours named Chente. You probably have seen Chente. He is about 40, a good looking guy whose father used to be a prominent lawyer in Nuevo. He comes to Montera periodically but usually ends up getting drunk on his ass and does this thing where he pretends he is at bat playing baseball and swinging for a home run. He is a good guy but most likely an alcoholic. The next morning at about 10am, I saw this beauty named Letty standing at the bar and I went over and met her. Good looking girl, sweet, and never asked for a dime from me like most of the women over there. Anyway, after hanging out with her on several occasions, she basically disappeared from the earth last September. She and I went to the Shamrock last September together and I have not heard from her since. We used to text often.
Anyway, would you please see if you can get some intel on her. She told me she lived on a rancho in Nuevo and she had a five year old daughter. Absolutely sweetest woman I have ever met. She is about 5 foot six inches, blondish hair mid length. I will buy you a couple of beers next time I see you.
Thanks man.

That area is a bit away from centro, but it shows there are still a lot of guns and people willing to use them. But, firing on soldiers is not exactly a good decision, as these 3 found out.

Gringo2 seems to be a re-incarnation of SusanX. Anyone else get that feeling? Trivial questions about NL.

#2, Emilinos was never the Mina, it is kinda open air like La Mina was, but not the same place, maybe 1/2 block apart. Where La Mina was is now an OXXO store.

#2. Bbond, what do you know about the Hotel Ajova? Is it similar to Hotel Sams?
