The federal government is deploying more security forces units in the northeastern state of Tamaulipas and will "completely" purge the state's law enforcement agencies in an effort to stop a spike in drug-related violence, Mexican Government Secretary Miguel Angel Osorio Chong said. Patrols will be stepped up at ports, airports, customs posts, border crossings and highways, with inspections of prisons and nightspots where criminal activities occur being expanded, Osorio Chong said.

We'll have to see what that underlined part is all about.

Well the local policia in Nuevo Laredo have been replaced by State Police, Federal police, Army, and Navy troops for quite sometime now. Looks like they are about to do the same with the rest of the state. In Nuevo Laredo all we have to worry about is the new Transitos (traffic cops), and only if you drive or ride a motorcycle. Yep, they are still as corrupt as they ever were.

I say that, then today, I see 2 City cops on three wheelers patrolling downtown. They were older guys, stopping to shake hands with people at the plaza.

My plan of staying out of NL was definitely short lived. I will, however, do my best to stay out of La Montera. That place just gives me some bad vibes. We got down to Nuevo at 5pm on Friday and I walked over to Emilianos for a beer. About 5 minutes later I saw Chente walking by and we had several beers together. We headed up to La Zona at about 10pm and Safari and the new bar to the right of Safari were jumping. Had a great time there and then headed down to Jorochos. I hung out with a girl there and danced a bunch of times but she didn't want to come back to the hotel.

Each time I come down to NL I head over to La Rhumba. I met a girl in La Mina named Fabiola years ago. Nice looking woman, about 38. Hung out several times with her in La Mina. She wasn't a working woman either (imagine that). She invited me to La Rhumba after La Mina closed down and I couldn't make it. Then, I lost her number. I go into La Rhumba to see if she'll be there one of these days. When I went in LR on Friday, the meseros told me she was in the night before.

Saw Laura in Emilianos (you know Laura, beautiful rack. Hangs out with the Bosnian dudes all the time). I offered to buy her a beer and she refused, acting like her you know what doesn't stink. Her attitude stems from a night where we were in a hotel together and she would not allow any extracurricular action beyond simply getting the deed done. As a result, I threw her out of my hotel. I try to be civil to her but man she holds a mean grudge. She is full of crap.

The Motel Fiesta is the place I used to stay and most of the guys that I know also stay there. Couple blocks from the Montera. And yes, the Montera is a about the only place to find girls early, before 2 am, there are others but the Montera is the best.

If you are familiar with NL, then driving is easiest to get around, if you have to ask, then I would say park at bridge 1 and walk across.

Plenty of money exchanges on both sides of the border, about the same rates both sides.

But do go back and read the forum posts, there is a ton of info guys have taken time to post, for your benefit.

been reading the last few pages and it sounds like nl is still hanging in there. the last time i went was 2008 iirc and i visited danash and a couple others in bt but the place was dead. i felt really bad for all the tourist places because they weren't doing any business and it sounds like things haven't improved much. i also went to tijuana in 2009 because it was cheaper at that time to fly to sd and take the train down than to drive or fly to laredo (faster too).

i haven't been back in so long because i lost a good job in 2009 and only just last december did i finally get that job back. now i've got a good income and am thinking about visiting.

i live in ky and get comparable services here for a comparable price. there are plenty of sw downtown where i live and sometimes there's a new girl who's hooked and wanting to make some money. sadly, their attitude and quality is erratic either because they are high, bitter, or broken. i haven't partaken in the hobby here in maybe 6 years.

but i do remember the montera and a couple other places down town. i think one was the bonanza or the hacienda or something. it was east of montera and a block or two north. i met a nice girl in there about 15 years ago before the troubles. she was new to town and insisted she wasn't for sale. her name was juanita and she wore a nice but threadbare cotton sundress. it was blue with yellow flowers. she was a dark skinned girl about 5'7" and about 19 with long wavy black hair that went to the middle of her back. she was slim and pretty. i was sitting at a table with a big fat woman who said she was from the us and would translate for tips. my spanish was ok but i wanted to know everything the girls said. there was another guy at the table i was at and talking with when the translator introduced us to this girl. the girl got a little distraught because the man (from the us) kept asking the translator to ask the girl how much she wanted and the translator kept saying that she wasn't for sale.

through the translator i asked her a few questions like her name and where she was from and how old she was. i said i thought she was very pretty and she seemed to like my approach better than the other guy who just wasn't getting it and kept making offers. i'm not smooth at all and couldn't pick up a tab in a bar let alone a girl but given what a muck up the other guy was making of it i probably seemed pretty great.

i asked her if she would like to take a walk around the city and maybe go have dinner. she said yes and off we went. she was a sweet girl and we stopped by my hotel and i checked on my dog and then we went to dinner at a nice restaurant that was a little west and south of la montera. she was so impressed by the place. i think the meal cost me 15 bucks total but she thought it was expensive. i asked her if she wanted to come back with me and spend the night in my room. she was delighted i had asked her and we went. after some complaints from the desk clerk about having a second person in my room they got tired of arguing with my bad spanish and we went to the room.

it was straight sex. no bj or anything special. i was a little nervous about asking too much because i really wasn't sure if she was playing at being a novice or if she really was. i liked her and she was sweet. there was kissing and the sex was nice.

at the time i always stayed at the same hotel. it's maybe 5 blocks east of la montera and a few blocks south. i can't remember the name it's been so long.

on my very first trip across, about 2 months before juanita, i noticed that two girls had checked in down the hall. the better looking one smiled at me as i went on to my room. an hour later she knocked on my door. i invited her in and we talked for awhile. she said her name was graciela and she was cute as f'k. short blonde hair, slim body with a flat tummy. she asked if she could practice her english which was not very good. she was from veracruz and she accompanied her gf to nl to meet her husband who worked in the us. he was going to meet them there and reunite with his wife and give her money. she left after about a half and hour and came back awhile later. she told me that her gf's husband had arrived early and she wondered if she could sleep in my extra bed.

because we had some chemistry and because i wanted to f' her i said yes but i wanted her to sleep in my bed. for a moment she seemed shocked but i was in a mood that night and seeing what a superior position i was in i pressed my advantage. she smiled and said yes. we started fooling around and it wasn't long before we were at it. i think she gave me a bj and i started to daty when i noticed she had all this cottage cheese looking stuff down there. i couldn't explain it to her or maybe she was just playing dumb. i fucked her with a condom anyway because by then i was stupid horny even though her condition kinda threw me.

so, i got up the next day and packed up and headed back north to the truck. by the time i got to joplin, mo where the main terminal is my dick was burning when i peed. i wasn't familiar with the town and asked a supervisor how i could see a doctor without an appointment. i went to town on the company shuttle and got fixed up. i know i wore condom with graciela but maybe i got something from daty or maybe the condom just wasn't enough. whatever. kind of ironic that the only vd i ever got in the last 20 years was from a non-pro.

a few months later was when i met juanita. after the first time with her i was going back to the river late in the evening. i had stayed way too long and i was going to have to drive 28 hours straight to get to my destination on time. i don't know why my company's tracking system didn't catch that but i wasn't going to ask why. as i was walking i passed a familiar little food stand that sold a sketchy looking kind of meat. she was standing in the shadows and said hi. she was still pretty but she had a paunch now. bad food and laying on her back was making her chubby. i was surprised to see her and a little scared as she came out of the shadows. i felt like she had caught me in the act and my heart now belonged to juanita. she said some stuff and i couldn't understand her. then she just said "sexo." i was not interested. i was spent and it was late and she was looking kind of rough. i asked her about her stomach and she said she was pregnant. then she said she was kidding and that she was just getting fat. she asked if i liked it and i said,"no." she mentioned sexo again and swayed her body as she said it. i definitely was not interested and i tried to tell her that she gave me a venereal disease the last time. she acted like she didn't know what i was saying and i probably wasn't saying it right. i got tired and said good bye.

so what is my point here? i dunno, i guess i just wanted reminisce on the glory days of nl back before the wars. back when almost every bar and club was open, where there was a door girl in front of ever door, where the trannies poured out into the street, and the worst you had to worry about was running out of money rather than getting shot.

now it's all a shadow of it's former self.

These people have made it almost impossible to monger in Reynosa without feeling threaten by them. I have had a few words with them but never any contact or fight, I do carry a 9 mm and I'd be damn if they every try any crap with me, but when you see 10 or 15 of these scumbags together it doesn't matter if your packing heat. These scum have ruined everything for us, I'd recommend next time to go to the military if they are near by and pay them $200 US and have that bastard shot. Tell them he tried to kidnap you or something. Sometimes its not worth it in Mexico anymore. Sad day when these assholes have taken over. It helps no one, not even business owners when these idiots show up, they take women with them and scare away business. Hopefully it will get so bad in Mexico that they get a harsh government that has zero tolerance for these pendejos!
