Ok well as I am enjoying my new life as a single man I have been spoiling myself rotten. The wait staff is now at Safari, which is the old Western Club, different owner than Tamyko, remodeled, and no longer gay.

This week, is seems the law allowing bars to stay open until 4 or 5 am on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, expired, so all bars, including those in NLBT, must close at 2am. I was told they would probably resume the late hours next week, but don't know that to be a fact.

Something similar happened to me in 2009. Except the military came in and shut the entire compound down. Trucks with dozens of troops unloaded at various spots. I was in the little club next to 1-2-3 when they came in to search the patrons and workers. I don't think this place had onsite rooms (or girls at the time I was there except for the girlfriend of the dj) so there wasn't a worry of people getting interrupted. I was the only American inside the bar and the mesero told me to relax, the military wasn't interested in me. Turns out he was right. The soldiers got the locals up against the walls and patted them down. They emptied their pockets and I noticed they even went through people cell phones address book / call log / sms looking for something. Until they got to me. They didn't even pat me down and said I could sit down.

I have been stood up on the wall by the military twice in the Herradura downtown, both times they had the locals empty pockets, they just briefly patted me and told me to sit down. Once they came in, had everyone, except me, another gringo with me, and his Mexicana girlfriend, stand against the wall for a thorough search, they never said a word to us.
