Hey I'm a newbie
I did the Sosua DR trip and had fun.
I'm a truck driver now so I'm all across the USA.
Can I get to Mexico and back to the USA with only a Florida driver liscense?
Do those travel vans stil exist by the truck stop?

Downtown is fine, just be aware of surroundings, and be cool, you will be fine.

Posts: 38Trip to NL Boys Town
I've been wanting to check out some places in mexico for mongering, particularly boys town since being in Houston it's practically in my backyard. But after reading thru the forum here it seems like I'll have a better chance at being robbed or extorted by the police than banging a hot spinner.
I don't consider myself a newbie, as I have traveled extensively throughout central and south america and spend most of my time now in Colombia, Costa Rica & Peru. Obviously N. Laredo logistically would be a easy choice given its proximity. But I could also fly reasonably cheap to Puerto Vallarta or Mexico City. Just doesn't seem to be much going on in PV, and the pics and you tube links I found for street action in Mexico city was mostly gorditas.
For the fellow mongers with experience in NLBT (bbond, Bhourgus, etc) , is BT or downtown NL just not a safe option right now, or is it like any other place (dangerous if you act like a fool and draw attention to yourself)?
Any feedback or suggestions for destinations in mexico to check out is appreciated

It has been probably three years since I have been to nuevo laredeo and I always took a cab from the American side. How do you hook up with the shuttle service from the Flying J? Does anyone know how to call them?

Went Friday. Parked near bridge at metered lot which is free after 6:00 PM.
Walked across bridge and down main st to Hildalgo turned left for 2 blocks and went to Intimo. About 12 girls and mostly locals with a few gringos. Beer only $1.
Checked out Herradura but mostly quiet. Then went back across main stree and half block on left entered Montera which was busier than the other 2. Picked a girl and went next door to hotel. $10 for room and $40 for girl.
Took a cab to Boystown for $10. Police patted me down inside gate but gave me no problem. Went to Martha's and saw suv's inside gate from truck stop. I talked to guy and he operates from flyin J and is there from 1:30 on and leaves at 6:30. They had 3 loads there Friday night. Girls asking $60 and $16 for room at Martha's. A few stunners there including one I would consider a 10. Checked out door girls and asking price is $20 for total. The quality suprised me as they were mostly younger and better than a lot of the bar girls. It has been about 25 years since I was there last. Boystown appeard safe although most of the bars were dead. Went back to Montera later and the place was packed as they had a band playing and the girls were not as good as they were earlier so called it a night.

Remember it's Christmas shopping season for uncle LEO. They get their money through a nice monger shake down!

Posts: 2126Friday night, Nov 12, I know of 3 guys that had drugs put in their back pocket while being searched by the policia in the downtown. Probably more than that, but three I know of. So be advised that if they want your money they will find a way to get it. Some nights they go on a money binge, and you never know when that will happen.

Posts: 1388God Blourghus, time and time again I have been telling you and I think you have finally noticed: your actions make you visible on the local's radar.
You've been questioning as many have, Monterrey's safety, and am not kidding, you are afraid to come to Monterrey cause of the danger but you still stick to very very risky stuff like moving around on a car to late at night.
I don't think Bbond nor others stay up that late (4-5 am) without going straight to bed.
You on the contrary are defying the odds going into parts unknown.
Blourghus one of these days the odds are going to catch up on you.
