There are several hotels in Laredo. All have a masturbation-friendly policy.

You might want to ask on USASexguide.info as it covers the north side of the river. I wouldn't get my hopes up.

I am a Mexican citizen and my son is a US citizen born in Houston, Texas of a Salvadorian mom. Both of us (mom and myself) were living legally in Houston at the time of his birth. My ex wife and I seperated when my son was 2 years old. He is now 21 years old. I had not seen him since she took him to El Salvador at the age of 2.

I got a call from my ex Sister-in-Law in May telling me that my son was in Houston and wanted to meet me. We made arrangements for my S-I-L and her husband to bring Jr. To meet me in Nuevo Laredo. We have traveled throughout Mexico since May.

On Sunday Sept. 13 Jr. And myself spent the night in Nuevo Laredo and were to drive to Houston on Monday the 14th. When we got to inspection at bridge #1 about 9:00am, Jr. Could not find his passport. We were sent to inspection. All of our possession were gone through, still no passport.

Jr. Did have in his possession his Texas Birth Certificate and both a valid Texas DL and a valid state of New York ID.

Jr. Was not allowed to enter back into the US with these documents. We were referred to the US Consulates office in Nuevo Laredo.

On Tuesday Sept. 15 we went to the Consulates office and were told to return on the 17th, which we did, explained out situation to a very unsympathetic US Govt employee. They would see what they could do.

Finally on Monday Sept. 28 Jr. Got a replacement passport and he was finally allowed to return to Houston. We made 6 visits to the Consulates office between 15th and 28th. We encountered 3 other people that had the problem of entering Mexico and trying to return home without a passport.

One elderly lady told us that she had told both the border agent at bridge #2 and the consulates office that she was unaware of the new law of requiring a passport to re-enter the US. She told us that both told her that "ignorance of the law is no excuse".

I do not know that this is a regular occurance on the part of the Border Agents nor how often it has happened, but can tell you that it happened to Jr. And at least three other people since the middle of September.

It is true that they can not keep you from re-entering the US without a passport. But I would hate to think of what might have happened if Jr. Had not even had a passport to begin with.

Just the unpleasantness of being sent inside is enough for me to reply to this post.

If I was a US citizan and did not have a US Passport, I personally would not even consider making the trip to Nuevo Laredo.

This sounds like it would not be pleasant? Not really sure what it means to be sent to secondary, but I am a U.S. Citizen, so I am not worried about that.. but would they think less of me if I told them that I went across the border to get laid?? =)

Anyways, you already answered my question. thank you Bbond. They can not keep me from coming back to the U.S. then, it will just be a hassle coming back, that is my understanding as of now.

Another question, because of the conditions right now in NL, has anyone heard of providers popping up in Laredo, TX? Sorry for the 101 questions, but I still have a house down there and am planning to visit in the next few weeks, want to hear from you guys that are up to date with things in the area.

    Thanks

It has been awhile since I have been, and I am really wanting to go, but the fear I have is getting stuck in Mexico!!

    Thank in advance.

As I've said I've been out of the 'loop' since I left my bar (Tres Reyes) back in December, but I still go to see the sights. The cops have changed since then but I never get hassled due to my family still owning it. I remember hearing stories first hand when I was working there about guys being shaken down at the entrance before their first beer. And this was all coming from the cop's mouths'. Freaking douche bags, I tell you! When the rooms at Tres Reyes open up, I'll let you guys know and so you can tell the swine at the front that you have a room there already and they should just wave you in. Or at the least not rob you.

BTW, anyone going down this coming Saturday? I'm gonna test out Cuartos Mexico but if anyone plans to stay overnight, we'll meet up and split a cab on the way back. I feel safe in Boys Town, but I'm a pussy cat on the ride over to the bridge.
My point was that dropping his name was enough for the cops to let the guy go. My theory has always been the cops prey mostly on the newbies, the drunk or those appearing like they aren't regulars. The newbie gringos are the easier to steal from. Those that have been there more times that we can count aren't so easy and know the score and the scam. That, at least, is why I think they haven't hassled me and often wave me through w/o having to get out of the car on the same nights where we read reports of people getting hauled into the office for a severe shakedown.

As much as I'd like to hit it with my favorita at Senoritas once more before I move to the west coast, I can't make it down there this weekend. The girls in Tijuana will need to console me next weekend.

Now that I've had time to think about it, I think if they had succeeded in stealing any of my money, I could have gone to Danash and told my waiter friends that the policia a la entrada son ladrones and that I do not have money to spend at their club. Maybe the word would get back. That's assuming I wasn't already in a Mexican jail for resisting robbery by the policia.

Fortunately that did not happen, but I didn't like putting myself in that situation. I was OK with the quick weapons check at the entrance, but these guys were looking for a reason to shake me down. They asked at least 4 times if I had a knife. My guess it that they're looking to see if you're intimidated by them. I have a couple friends that were considering a trip down with me, but now I can't recommend that to them. As cute as some of the chicas are in BT, I don't think I will be heading back anytime soon.

I'd appreciate hearing from others about their treatment at the entrance.
I ran into a monger in the bathroom at Danash a while back and when the police started to pull that crap with him, he told his buddy who had been let go by the cops to go tell Oscar at Danash. After hearing that, I've made it a point to tell the police that I'm on my way to Danash (usually after I tell them where I'm from and where I work and before I tell them I've been there several times and do not have a knife or drugs). Don't know if it helps, but I've never been taken into the office.

Even if you don't get hassled next time, tell Oscar at Danash about it and it might help. I say "might" since you never know.
