    Christmas Party at Papas

Hey does anyone have any information if there is a Xmas party at Papas this year? I met a chica named Patricia at Tamyko who used to be beautiful and trim in year 2000.

. Years later I walked in there and she came up to me and I didn't recognize her she put on about 75 lbs but still had a beautiful face. She gave the worst BJs I evergot in my life but she was so persistant I kinda got to like her so I would visit with her everytime.

In the old days- there would be a guy who would take pictures of you with your chica

The mariachi guys would stroll around and it was really fun to have a few cervezas and tacos at the taco stand at the corner of Papas entrance. I went to Danash once and watched the most beautiful dancer. I paid dearly but she was so good and tight and had amazing feeling skin-

American girls think their pussy is some kind of prize and most have such a fucked up attitude if you date them for a few weeks or more they want to become your girlfriend or marry you.

I always try to speak a little Spanish and even though I suck at it the girls I think respect you more for trying than the ones that don't.

I have had some great times down there but I stopped going after I got busted for getting caught with a camera 3 years ago. I was unaware of all the gun slinging and thats why I joined this forum to keep informed. I am such a bad typist or else I would write alot about my experiences. I always would bring the girls at NLBT some small gifts. If you get frisked at the gate I don't know if it would help the guards treat you better if they saw you were bringing the girls gifts. It doesn't hurt to have a CD of Vicente Fernandez or Mana or some great latin singer to give away. The girls always remember you.

I would love to hear Zona stories of the old days. That would make a great read. Does anyone have photos from then 60s or 70s? I saw that book that Bill Wittcliff (spelling) put together about NLBT a few years ago and it was tremendous. Some of the older guys in Texas or Mexico whatt was it like in the good old days? Beehives and alot of makeup and real conjunto music women were wild and sexay and the men were rancheros and truckers and students from Texas on a ritual ***** monger run.

I do not know why it is so hard for some Gringos to understand Mexico. This is their country and we are guests. Respect their rules and customs and you probably won't have a problem.

If they don't allow cameras, don't bring a camera. It is that simple and a topic not worthy of debate.

As for Mexicanos not liking us, I am an American of asian descent and have never really had a problem living in MX. I have lived there on and off for almost two years and vacationed in different locales for well over six months. A total period of close to two and a half years.

In fact, I am seriously thinking about cashing out of the U.S.s.r. and taking my chances in MX.

And becoming a citizen in Mexico is really not that hard. A test which can be mastered in six months, $800.00(fees) and about $500(expedite) to get the paperwork passed and you have citizenship.

    Well I'm not a "gringo" so I don't give a fuck really.

No need to get uptight there, guy! All I was asking was a simple question as to whats thier deal; all you had to say, and I've seen it in other forums, that its just not allowed, no biggie; like I've said all the time in acuna, no one has really ever said anything. The mexicans do not not like us as you so say. Maybe you "gringos" but not some of us "pochos" or border hispanics. Besides they mistreat anyone in thier jails including locals.

No one is trying to ignore anyone, esp those who have the experience points over some of us NLBT cherries.

back in the late 90's, i was down there, i think on my second or thirds trip. i met up and started partying with a group of guy that were there on "spring break". well, back then, things were a little bit different. these guys had brought a full on video camera, and were openly videotaping their nights festivities. the even recorded the donkey show, and one of their group getting a bj on the stage at martha's bar.

apparently back then they didn't know how easily it was to put a picture in the internet. think back, how many monger forums were there in 1998/99. there weren't many, and the ones that existed didn't have much in the way of pictures.

now everyone in mexico has a computer, or at least access to one. even abuelas can go to the internet cafe and look up stuff on the web, or read an email. the girls don't want their families to see them on the web, and the bar owners and policia don't want the publicity. i don't know if beavis is correct, if there is a written law, i have never seen it. the cops more than likely just don't like the cameras there, and tell you it's illegal in order to ilicit a bribe. "toold", a long standing, and well respected of another website, even got permission from the bt jail jefe a few years ago to take pictures of bt, as long as he got permission from any of the girls, or at least no faces. it was only later (after someone complained), that they decided that it was illegal and cofirep001ed his camera and locked him up for a couple of hours.

a cell phone that has a camera that is discteet should be fine. some of the new smart phones that are coming out now look more like a camera that a phone. check out the nokia 5800 (which will be my next phone), or blackberry storm for instance. if you have something like a razr, or slidr, then you should be fine. if you have a blackberry, or something like a samsung instinct or t-mobile g1, that has a flash, then i would recommend against it. they will just look too much like a camera to risk.

the girls actually don't seem to mind pictures (to some extent), but the bastard cops ain't going to let one in without trouble.

Honestly what is the big deal about taking a small, say sony cybershot camera?

Do they have reasons other then the girls not wanting pics of them? I have taken several (alot) of pics in acuna over the years, have a few, lost a few. But only recently (well several months ago) took some of some girls we were partying with only until this one ugly bucktooth dancer beotch complained about that I took a pic of her when iw as taking ap ic of this other beotch we were with. So they told me to stop.

    Other then that nothing.

    So whats thier deal?

Must be SOP/Standard Operating Procedure for some of the NLBT Policia to pull your wallet and rifle through it. This happened to me a number of months ago. And this also happened to another guy that we know-Cumbia. The Policia told me he was looking for drugs, which is total B.S. I kept my eye on the guy, he did not steal/pocket any of my dinero.

I have not had any trouble carrying my cellphone with camera to NLBT.

I have been extremely lucky twice with the NLBT Policia in 2007. I talked/bluffed my way out of the knife planting incident in my truck. I told them they planted the knife. I name dropped the now deceased owner of Papagayo's name Opehlia Camacho. I told the Policia I had been coming to Papagayo's for 30 years. That I knew Ophelia by name and that she knew me by name which was the truth. I told them let's go talk to La Patrona Ophelia Camacho about y'all planting the knife. I also suggested talking to their Comandante. They let me go without even asking for a mordida/bribe. They did steal a Monterrey Tigres cap from the back seat of my truck.

When I got to Papa's, La Patrona Ophelia was not working that night. Gloria was working. Gloria would not have done caca for me if the Policia had opted to go talk to La Patrona Ophelia. The Mesero's and the chica's that I talked to were all shocked that the Policia had let me go without extracting a mordida/bribe out of me.

The second time I was extremely lucky. Taxi's were scarce. So I got in a taxi with two strangers/Gringos, they were in the taxi headed to NLBT. I knew the driver Noe, he asked if I needed a ride to NLBT. The Gringos were truck drivers. The guy in the front seat was obnoxious & drunk. He was giving me a rash of shit when I was trying to be helpful with info about NLBT. The guy in the back seat was cool, had never been to NLBT.

I told both guys if they had a knife or drugs on them to get rid of it before we got to NLBT. That the NLBT Policia would be searching us at the entrance of NLBT. Well the drunk Gringo in the front seat did not listen to me. He had some form of illegal contraband on him, don't know what it was. They took him and his buddy to jail. They started to take me to jail also. Noe the taxi driver spoke to them in spanish and told the Policia I was not with them. So they let me go. If Noe had not spoken up for me, I would have been in jail also. Paying a mordida/bribe to get out. It was guilt by association.

The last several times I have gone to NLBT. There are people smoking pot on 2nd street. When I have walked past the open spot by the Green Building where they deal drugs, the smell of weed permeates the air.

I don't trust the NLBT Policia. Hopefully I will continue to have bueno suerte/good luck. And not have any problems with them.

last 2 times i went to nlbt i carried my phone, it has a camera also, they didn't question it.
the last time i went, the military and not the policia were checking cars, they just waved us thru after shining a flashlight in the car.
when the policia are checking, you never know how they will react to anything, they are not above planting knives, or drugs, in order to try get some money from you. mcklipsch will verify the knife plant attempts as he had it done to him, driving his personal vehicle. another guy i know was in a taxi and the policia ''found'' a bag of pot under the front seat, fool was carring a large amount of cash ($2000), it cost him $600 to have that go away. the more you have the bigger their eyes, and bribes, get. only carry visibly a couple hunderd, any more carry concealed, like in a money belt or in your shoes, then their eyes wont get so big when they open your wallet, ''to check for drugs''.
mck called their bluff and all he lost was a cap. they threaten you, and if you stand them down you will prolly not lose any money, but the threat you will spend hours in their jail and that is enough to make most people just pay what they want and go on. they prey on fear and ignorance. don't make it easy for them.

i have seen the policia make money exchanges with the drug sellers on the 2nd street in nlbt, i am not sure if they were buying drugs or selling some confirep001ed drugs back, but they stopped and an exchange was made, the cops are crooked here, damn near, if not, 100% of them.

also, drugs are openly sold across the street from the herradura downtown, sometimes there is a line of people buying, cars stop and purchase, the cops just drive right by w/o saying anything.

    Camera in NLBT

you are asking for major league potential trouble if you carry a camera with you to nlbt. if caught the nlbt policia will take you to their office/jail. they will search/find all your dinero. they will probably put you in the holding cell to scare you. and then hit you up for a mordida/bribe to make the problem go away. the mordida/bribe will most likely not be a small amount of dinero. they might confirep001e your camera. the nlbt policia supplement their income with mordidas/bribes. why take the chance and possibly ruin your first return visit to nlbt in 10 years.

the nlbt policia search private vehicles entering nlbt. and they ask 99. 9-100% of passengers to exit the taxi for a search/pat down upon entering nlbt. the nlbt policia will ask you to exit the taxi. they will have you spread eagle with your hands on top of the taxi while they pat you down/search you. they will ask if you have any weapons/knife or drugs on you. be respectful and tell them no-no knife or drugs. they will let you go on your way.

i would park in the laredo municipal parking lot down the hill in front of the mall. it is $8 a day/24 hours.

in the early 1980's my buddies & i used to park at the mall. in the early 1990's i parked at the mall and mall security had my truck towed. the mall security guard told me any vehicles after closing time left in the parking lot were towed. not sure what there policy is now.

Thank You All So Very Much!!!

    All,

This is great information. I had already read some of these warnings previously that were posted by you very fine gentlemen already. It has been very much worth reading them again as they are obviously quite important.

So if one wants to takes pictures of the girls, it needs to be in your hotel room as opposed to BT? I imagine the exception being the TJ Zone as it is fundamentally different in nature.

So what do they do with a cell phone that has a camera? I think this is my last question.

Thanks again for all of your fantastic information!

    Sinceramente,

    Piedras

When I went last weekend, the cop also pulled out my wallet and rifled through it. If this happens, make sure you watch him closely, and make sure that he knows that you are watching him closely. You don't have to say "I watching you", but stare directly at your wallet and his hands the whole time until he hands it back to you. Any slip, and sometimes anothe cop will try to distract you, but any time your attention gets distracted away from what he is doing with your wallet, you stand the chance to lose a few bucks. I usually keep my Viagra in my little crack pocket on my jeans, they have never felt it, or questioned it. They really are looking for the quick buck from stupid drunk gringos who bring cameras, forget they had their little pocket knife, brought an aspirin or Viagra with them (it's not illegal, but they will tell you it is), or don't pay attention and give them the opportunity to snatch a quick $20 or so.

I'm not trying to scare you off of you trip, lord knows it hasn't stopped me from going for nearly 11 years now. I just want to make sure you know what your up against. Stay attentive, stay aware of your surroundings, don't go to places you shouldn't be. Don't [CodeWord140] in the street, don't get drunk and trip over the coal buckets (been there). Don't be "The Asshole American", and you'll be fine.

The Motel Fiesta is on the same street as the Herradura, Ocampo, just 1 block away. The Montera is another block on the cross street where the Herradura is, Hidalgo, but just across the main drag, Guerrero. Another bar, Bar Intimo, is a block the opposite direction to the Montera from the Herradura, more girls circulate between Montera and Intimo and don't bother with the Herradura till very late as it is normally dead till after 10:30 or so.
Bar El Rey also often has girls, some from other bars and some that just hang there.

A pic clipped from the map shows relative locations.

Below is a link to a google map of NL, you can zoom and pan to find locations. Clicking on a location listed in the side bar will point to it also.
