Bbond,
I have a couple of Taxi related questions. The first, are there new taxis available in NL, with A/C and more professional equipment that tracks fares? I think the name of the cars in Monterrey that are newer are the Nissan Versa. I like those and I feel safe in those. I don't like the Nissan models that have been reused for decades. I mean what is that name of those Nissan cars that used to be sold in the United States like 20 years ago or more? LOL. The next question, and I used to do the 10 years ago in Monterrey. I used to become buddies with the Taxi driver who would be working the hotel I stayed at and I would just ask him to take me on joy rides. I wish I did that in Monterrey because all those places that used to exist in the downtown area are still there but the streets are just now busy with street walkers and graffiti and pimps. That is very intimidating but I wish a taxi driver could have taken me though that and maybe even helped me pick out one of the street walkers. There are so many love motels in Monterrey that I could easily pay one of them 10 to 15 dollars for a couple of hours of room time with a girl. Yea, I wish I could have a taxi just drive me around the downtown area so I can just observe the action and possibly be able to call a girl over and into the car and ride away and all in the same fare. I feel the spirit of the old boys town army running through my veins LOL.

Posts: 353Mexican Car Insurance for Weekenders.
I checked with my AAA partner for Mexican insurance and they basically quoted me almost 25 dollars per day so at that price I might aw well just pay for parking on the USA side. Going to mexico is not just a trip, it's an experience. So at this point I do think it's worth going to Mexico through the pedestrian bridge. Especially now that they had added new lanes and hopefully it's faster. I just hope that taxis are reliable but I guess it requires one own personal experience to try them out. I also hope that girls don't mind taking the Taxi on dates. I guess I will be thinking very hard about making the trip to Nueveo Laredo. I am going to Laredo to visit a couple of friends this weekend.

So going to Nuevo Laredo is still challenging for me do to the transportation issues. Using Uber in Monterrey was really nice. Most of my trips were around 2 dollars while the same trip in the United States would be closer to 8 dollars.
Sorry, I know this isn't the Monterrey forum but the Monterrey forum seems really slow now days.

Several bus lines go from NL to MTY and not all are equal, take the more expensive ones, they are less crowded. Greyhound sucks. Coming back from MTY, the selection is not as good, and I don't understand why. Both ways, buses run quite frequently, don't travel at night.

Oh, forgot to report about Bridge #1. Looks like it's all done and cars were moving. WOW, the pedestrian's general area looks like an airport, nice and clean. I was there at 7 AM on Tuesday. There were three different lines for different categories: Global Entry, Nexus, etc. But all lines were short and moving fast. At least 6 counters were open. The two female CBPs were HOT.
BBond took me to an awesome Mexican restaurant for lunch. Thanks Buddy.

Sorry for this late and short report. I was in NL two Sundays ago and stayed for two nights. Hung out with BBond most of the time. My favorite got married and moved to Monterrey. She asked me to go to Monterrey to see her but I was not comfortable making the bus trip plus I wouldn't have time anyway. Has anyone tried the bus to Monterrey?
The other talent were not good (maybe it's Monday) so I did not partake.

Bridge 2, still in progress but operational.
The bus station remains about the only decent parking, at $16 a day. There are some lots where the old city parking was, not sure of what they charge, but it is close to the $16 a day the bus station parking charges. They even took over the parking at the big round hotel. Parking there is pre-paid, credit / debit accepted, you enter your plate number into the machine, they patrol frequently looking for violators, and install wheel locks on those they find. Some one still needs to try the lost ticket trick at the bus station, stay for more than a day, "lose" ticket, see if total charge is only $16. Can't hurt to try.

Is the renovation of the International Bridge finished?
Any new information on safe overnight parking other than the Greyhound building?
Thank you very much.
