Went down for Saturday night in August. First time in Reynosa since November 2018. Have been trying to make it here before then but last minute emergencies plus car breaking down didn't help. But finally 10 months later here I am.

Parked and walked across. Lot went up from $5/ day to $7/ day.

Right off the bat: Hotel La Villita is CLOSED. Gates shuttered and tarped up. This might be a problem. Only other hotel I know of is Hotel Bravo, about 5 streets back. Got there at 11 pm, room is 400 p / night.

In the past, admission was 20 p, but since 2017 they gave up and people could walk in free. Not anymore, attendants are back and regular 20 p applies.

Walked into the Zona. Another dose of tell tale: Lipstick is CLOSED. Zero indication of operation, could not get a straight answer via Spanglish how long ago it folded or was it just being temp remodeled? Another uneasy feel, in the Figure 8 pattern the compound's main streets form, probably I'd say with street lighting this go around 85% of the place was pitch black, so visitors could be jumped / mugged / worst by the riff raff and no one would notice. Been here since 2011 and this weekend legit felt uneasy.

There was a lineup of some usual suspects and some land mines / fat cows to avoid all together. Some I had hoped for were no shows, hopefully not forever. Went with one girl I've had many times, she's been good in past but this time she was VERY restrictive. A rushed BJ, nude, let me massage her for a little bit then only missionary. Mileroticos. 99.95% scams, avoid at all costs. Are you nuts? Locanto, some possibilities, but if your Spanish is weak, expect few, if any, replies. The girls get 1000's of fake replies, so if your's smells fake, no reply. Maybe Monterrey has some prospects, but you need something more than just basic Spanish to get a reply. I have lived here 10 years, been around the block a couple times. If there was a really good hook-up site, I would post it in a heartbeat. Sometimes I wonder just what you guys want, it's all available, but not without some serious setbacks while looking.

Thanks for the info. I'll be in mcallen this Wednesday and Thursday. I plan to stay on the US side since work I'm there for work. Is there anything worth walking across for? Nuevo Laredo for example has hotels and girls within blocks of the border crossing. How far is Zona but better yet is it even worse going on the days I'll be there?

When you walk across there are cabs that will take you to La Zona when asked for 100 pesos. You *could* walk there if you wanted to walk a good 3/4 mile.

On a weeknight you could actually drive your car in on a Wednesday or Thursday night, line should be quick enough.

Near or en route to Zona, there's motels. Closest one is Hotel La Villita. A few blocks away is Hotel Bravo.

Allegedly, don't quote me on this, but while Zona is several blocks west of bridge, a few blocks southeast of bridge there's a central plaza with ample cafes and bars, not sure how hopping they'll be, but in case you need to get a bite or drink on.

Again Sunday-Thursday, expect the Zona to completely fold up last girl leaves by midnight.

May see one or two army convoys sweep the area sometimes carding people on entry / exit. Just be cool don't act suspicious.

-They have The Zona, it's surprisingly hopping on Friday and Saturday nights. Other nights not so much and shut down by midnight.

-Federal level police and army constantly do sweeps of the city so somewhat okay but $&% can still go down on a moments notice. I personally have lucked out. Some how.

-there's an alleged bar district near the plaza I haven't been but it's there.

-personally, my arrangements are park on the US side, pack 1-2 days into a backpack or small dufflebag. Cabs waiting on other side will take you to a hotel. I prefer Hotel La Villita* it's literally 500 feet from The Zona. Main reason for parking is I personally had enough of sitting on the bridge for 2 hours on a Sunday afternoon upon reentry. Pedestrian return is less than 20 minutes every time.

-*I briefly explored other hotels besides HLV after one fine day in 2014 I got caught in the middle of a SWAT style raid and got questioned for 2 hours. Eventually they finally realized I really was a random bystander not an accomplice and let me go. But after 2 years, I lifted the exile and came crawling back.

-Zona's only strip club, Lipstick is worth a peek only on Fridays and Saturdays. Just trust me on this.

-If you're a slightly bigger spender and have international phone service and the cosmos line up just right, google up Reynosa escorts first result is the site Mileroticos. You can read my previous Mileroticos tips about how girls only seem to respond on weekday afternoons and even if they show up (which seems to be an act of congress for whatever reason!) screen them to make sure she's the girl in the picture.
