I've spent a lot of time RTFF on both NL and Reynosa. Another member was also kind enough to share with me via pm. The information provided is excellent and well presented. I still however have a question or comment.

I am curious about the texas border towns. NL is a huge port of entry for goods and therefore will not be shutting down anytime soon. I assume life goes on even though the violence continues. Reynosa I assume is also the same way. The demise of BT in NL has brought ladies to the downtown bars for freelance action. The peso is weak to the dollar. All good things more or less for a monger / storm chaser.

If I came down to NL then onto Reynosa for a 2 week trip of mongering eating tex mex massages movies shopping for leather hanging out would I enjoy myself? I do have a very good grasp on spanish. Would I be nuts staying for so long causing un necessary attention upon myself? 12am is usually my bedtime.

I will not have a car. All on foot or local transport. I am cheap when it comes to cabs but will use them under certain circumstances.

I've done quite a few other LA countries but I am curious about border towns in mexico. It would be great to have somewhere closer to hop down to every now and then. I could even extend the trip by going to Acuna and Piedras Negras. Worth it?

My budget after hotel would be $100 a day. Includes chica food and drinks. Bomb or bust?

I also have another trip planned to southern mexico and mazatlan. Better to waste this money on that trip or try both?

I went to Reynosa Today around noon, got me a room at the Capri about2 blocks west of the Hidalgo bridge. I bought el Manana from the 7-11 and browse thru the adult advertising section. Call this girl she was offering 2 girl for 700 pesos each for 1 1/2 hours. I told her I only want 1 girl and she said that she will be ther in half in hour. The girls in Matamoros are more experience and GFE friendly. The girls in Reynosa are most often non pros looking to make a quick buck. This equals bad experience. They can't take the dick and you are rushed. You are better off going to BT.

I went to Envidia about 11:30 last night and didn't hear anything. They closed at 2am which suprised me so I went to Lipstick in boystown. All seemed pretty quiet to me. Guess I was just fortunate.

Has anybody other than me has gone to BT lately? I just went on Saturday the night of the 15th and it seemed to have picked up a bit with more door girls, some new ones, some who've been there for a while. I didn't see that many TX plates, other than mine. It was around 11 in the evening when I got there. It was still rather slow as it's been quite a while since I've seen lots of cars parked outside the bars. This time around I did see several cars but mostly parked in front of the girls' rooms. So compared to the last time I went, it was busier. I felt pretty safe but then again I try not to stay too long, even when I do go into the bars, just one beer, watch a couple girls strip, and then get one into a room. No need to press my luck by staying too long.

Driving around Reynosa at night I did see more people out in the streets than I'the expected to see in a city under siege. I even made a little game out of it, 'spot the halcon'. I didn't see any convoys, military or otherwise. I even went for some tacos around midnight. I would not recommend going over to the highways though, and if you find yourselves driving on some street and there's no cars in front of you, keep an eye out on the road for anything that might puncture your tires, just in case. I saw a picture someone posted on twitter of what they use to puncture tires when the military chases them. And of course, the riverside road that goes from the Hidalgo bridge to BT has been open for a while, just in case anybody wonders about that.

Anybody care to share any experiences?

I was just in Reynosa not that long ago and it was dead. There were some cars around but even though it was around 10 pm it was still dead. I was told that "the party" doesn't start until around 11 or 12, especially at the clubs. There were very few door girls and personally I prefer to avoid those "Santa Muerte" tattooed chicks but it seems that's all you find nowadays, but I still felt pretty safe inside the compound and I guess the farthest south you go from the border the bigger the risk. I think Saturday nights are a better bet for Reynosa BT.

I just moved from the area. = (However, I visited Reynosa before I left and I had no problems. I do drive a klunker so I do not attract attention. There is some stuff in McAllen. You just have to know the right people. =x

Heya fellas.

Have a new friend who swears by Reynosa while I swears by Nuevo Laredo. The reason is I picked NL cause I always went there due to family and friends visits, most of the bar owners know me by my face and good time crowd I bring out with me. And for my friend Reynosa cause McAllen is his hometown and he use to frequent there alot but he does tell me of his many visit to Nuevo Laredo. So we started a list of what is better than the other. If this craziness never taken place we would of settle this a while back by taking trips all the time. But since the cartels are having bloodbath parties out there, so would like to know which is the better of the two in terms of location, cleanness, food, motels and general services. Its not about the girls fellas, girls of all types can be found anywhere, so lets leave the girls out of this discussion except for services that is out of the bedroom.

Also, I'm seriously thinking to muster up my bravery and head down to the valley but simply would like to ask, are all border towns are drug war zones like Nuevo Laredo and Juarez? My friends and I used to go to Nuevo Laredo all the time but things just seem to get worse and worse with every week that have past therefor we just stop going there and the good time have been long since past gone. So about to suggest Reynosa for our next get together but would like to hear what really going on over there. So fellas is it really that bad in Reynosa?

Well, too bad there aren't any places like BT on this side of the border, since Reynosa is a bit too dangerous at this time, or at least none that I know of.

Had my 3 day weekend this past week and went to Reynosa on Thursday, Nuevo Laredo on Friday and Matamoros on Saturday. Thursday night I headed over to Envidia in Reynosa. There was a decent crowd for a Thursday night but my friend was busy all night with another customer. No biggie, it's like saving over a hundred bucks and I still had Friday and Saturday. The selection of girls is always good there, if you have the money to spend. Personally I think it's the best club in Reynosa. Good entertainment with the girls and especially when they have wrestling and customers boxing in the ring. Good change of pace. I think they only have fights on Fridays and Saturdays. I did take a cab from the bridge. It cost more than driving but I always feel safer if I know the taxi driver. After 1 bucket of beers I decided to head over to Boystown. Overall the town was very quiet. There were 3 jeeps full of soldiers when I arrived, a few of the soldiers were talking to the doorgirls at the very back corner of the compound. There were not very many door girls, maybe cause it was a Thursday. Had 1 beer at El Baston which had 1 girl that I knew and thats all who was working there. Left for Lipstick. There were a few girls, but they were all sitting around on the sides and they weren't walking around very much so it was hard to see what they looked like. There were definitely fewer customers there than at Envidia. After 1 beer I headed over to Tenampa. It's a regluar club with a live band, dancing and where some girls go to make some extra money. It's a scene that I'm not used to. There were quiet a few people and girls in there. There were a couple of young cute girls, not sure if they were working. I haven't been going there long enough to get to know the waiters and ask about the girls, but one of the waiters asked if I would like to have a girl brought over. It was about 3:30 or 4 am and I decided to call it a night. I knew I had about a 3hr drive to Laredo on Friday. Report to follow. Overall it was quiet in the zona. If we had alerts like the airports I would say it's a yellow. Don't see much reason to be super afraid to go, but your on your own if you drive.
