The barrio called "Merced' has a boat load of Hostitutes working the street scene. It is a crowded, seedy part of the city just 8 blocks from the Zocalo. Prices start at $250. My entire nutrition for the day since 7:AM was a cup of tea and a glass of orange juice. Mexico city, from the businesses to the street hookers have the opposite approach to most places I've seen. USUALLY, people start with the most basic package of anything and try to upsell me. Not in the DF. Here they start out with the top package and pretend like lower priced packages don't exist. I paid like $25 for my cab not realizing that an Executive SUV is going to pull around! I could have gotten away with less $$ by insisting that I get a sedan. But oh well. All though arriving "in style" anywhere in Mexico city scares the shit out of me, it seems pretty shady out here. When looking out the window I can see that anytime workers get even a small break they spar with each other. Everyone is swearing and amped up to fight with each other (with smiles on their faces) seemingly all the time. There's no laid back siesta life going here. It actually reminds me of Bangkok sort of (in terms of the people, not the scene).

SO, I check in my hotel and do my usually Q&A to the guy at the front desk. Translated to english for your benefit:

"Is it safe outside, even at night"

"Yes, very safe. We are right next to the media district [blah blah blah] just stay away from drunks at night. There is[list of tourist places blah blah blah]. As long as you head east or south from the hotel. Don't head West."

So of course the first thing I do is change into a wrinkled t-shirt and HEAD WEST! Haha, wherever respectable mexicans think it's too dangerous to go is EXACTLY where I want be. I came here to hang with chicas, not visit tourist sites.

Now mind you it is about 4:PM, but I had to walk around for a while before the streetwalkers came out. I did see a bunch sitting together at a table in a convenient store. So maybe it was their lunch break. Or maybe shit doesn't happen til later here. I avoid strip clubs like the plague in DF. The rest of the country not so bad, but DF never unless you enjoy being fleeced or money is no object. Not my case.

Because its convenient I dropped by Club Venecia on Xola yesterday afternoon. Not too bad a selection and I decided to think about it over a coffee. Droped by a small place I used to go to in the neighborhood but it appeared to be closed down.
