With the restrictions being lifted in Baja California & bars opening in Tijuana, anyone hear or know anything about bars / clubs opening in Mexicali?

JH, I was in Mexicali last night with a friend. After dinner, we went driving around to the clubs and didn't see anything open. The outside signs were dark. The La Conga bar was open (across from the GauGau) and people were coming in and out. Maybe this coming week the clubs will open.

Thanks for compliments JH. After you cross back into the USA, just keep walking and follow the road to the gas station (it's the last one before entering MX) and call your Uber or taxi. I've had no experiences with Uber or taxis in that area. That address sounds about right, or give them the gas station addy.

BTW, I checked with the 2 Calexico taxi co's, Calexico Taxi & Border Taxi (which happen to be the same company or at least have the same dispatch) & they pick up near the East border, as well.

So, my question is primarily regarding crossing back to the US. It sounds like I would just do the opposite of your directions & follow the signs. However, when I finish the long walk at the US side to find no parking lot, what exactly is there on the US side? Is there even a place to wait for a ride? Any experience with getting uber or a taxi from there? What address would I give them - 1699 Carr Road?

Side note: a couple of weeks back, I had uber drop me at the Mexicali EAST side, hoping to avoid the long lines at the WEST crossing. I arrived at 2:06 PM. That's how I found out, the hard way, that the border closes at 2! I had to take another uber back to the WEST border & still stand in line!

And you're right, no taxi stand on the Mexicali side.

JH, It's a long walk especially if it's hot outside. If you do decide to walk, your taxi will drop you off before the fenced area on the USA Side. You'll stay on the far right side and walk. You'll see the Mx port of entry, just follow the signs. There might be a Mx taxi somewhere near the port of entry, but don't bet on it. You might be able to get an Uber driver to pick you up once you cross into MX. The port closes at 2 PM also. There's no parking lot to park your car on the USA Side to park either.

Can someone give me the lowdown on crossing by foot at the Calexico EAST border when crossing back into the US? Calexico WEST has been pretty jammed lately & I don't have sentri, so I thought I might try EAST next time. Here are my specific questions:

1. I understand it's a long walk. How long of a walk is it? (approx. Don't need anything exact).

2. Is the way clearly marked, so a dumbass like me won't get lost? I mean, I'm pretty sure I can get to passport control (or maybe not! However, after that there is a long walk to. WHERE?

3. Is it easy to get a taxi once you arrive at the end of it (where ever that is)? Are there taxis waiting or a taxi stand, similar to Calexico WEST? Any experience with uber from there?

I know that the operation hours there are 6 AM - 2 PM right now.

Anything else that I should know?

I used to monger at San Diego Bar and Bahia. I almost (not quite) caught feeling for Ceci, small breasted lady with a bob haircut back in the 90's. It is my personal favorite for thee reasons.

First of all you do not have to "mess around" there. You get right down to business. I do not like the strip clubs or El Establo because you have to play this fake game of pretending you want to date the girl and the girl pretending she likes you. You have to buy her the drinks and do all the other crap. I personally want to keep it real. I am in my 50's so I know that these girls are not interested in me for a relationship so why do I want to mess around with this fantasy pretending they are. I am there for one reason and so is the girl. I would rather just go there, fuck them and then leave. I prefer it to be a short encounter, not some fake nightclub fantasy with girls pretending they like me. Slam, bam thank-you madam is my style.

Second of all, I like how they have flat rates. Last time I was there which was in February it was $80 dollars for the massage with full service. No negotiating. They straight up tell you. I do not like the horse trading that the other massage parlors do.

Third, It is within walking distance of the border. No need for Taxi's.

I have always found the girls to be good looking and most of them speak English. They are always nice to you.

I realized the place probably is not for everyone. Some people I guess like the fantasy of pretending the girl is in a relationship with you. This is just me. I personally want to get down to business and get out of there. I wish I spoke better Spanish so I could use milleroticos and other sites like that but since I do not I am not able. I also fear having the chat conversations on my smartphone in case the border patrol sometime decides to inspect my phone. This is why I stick to the massage parlors.

I was thinking about going down this labor day weekend. I usually go to Black Magic Spa. Is it open right now in the pandemic? Is getting in to Mexico and returnng to the United States a problem? I was just wondering if I was wasting my time.

DeLatina, sometimes the walking line can be bad too! This is a holiday weekend, and it depends on the time of day as well. If you decide to go across this weekend, make sure you purchase some meds for your return into the USA.

DeLatina, Yes Blackmagic Spa is open. The restaurants with bars are opened, but can only serve to 10 pm. You can look up Blackmagic on Facebook. They have their hours posted. Yes traveling into Mexico is considered essential, but you can still go over. Be warned the driving lines to enter back into the USA are very long. If you have Sentri, no problems. Just stop at a pharmacy, buy some cheap meds, and when asked your purpose of traveling into Mexico, tell them you needed to purchase medicine for your medical conditions. Make sure you bring your mask with you as well. Hopefully this answers some of your questions.
