After a very disappointing evening in Los Algodones which you can read about in the Algodones forum I went to Mexicali for the next part of my adventure. My luck was a little bit better here. I still did not get all that I wanted though.

Granjefe and I arrived in Mexicali and I used Google Maps on my Android phone with 2nd Chance's map of all the fun spots (thanks again 2nd Chance, it is very helpful) to find the Hotel Chinesca. On a previous trip I had made to Mexicali with Apache I had been inside the Hotel Chinesca briefly inside of Apache's room but I had never stayed there. I must say it was a very clean place and a very good bargain for the money (250 pesos plus 50 pesos key deposit). Since I do not speak Spanish I did have some problems when I first got to the desk. I used my talking electronic translator and asked for 2 rooms (one for me and one for Granjefe) on the east side per Apache's previous recommendations on this board to avoid all the noise from the night club on the west side. The lady behind the desk for some reason could not understand even as I showed her on my Android screen the question for the two rooms. I am not sure why, it seems pretty straight forward to me. It took a while but she finally got someone that worked in the hotel that spoke English and got us taken care of. Granjefe and I paid for the rooms and we finally got our keys. Since Granjefe had gotten lucky the night before in Algodones he was quite tired and wanted to sleep in a bit. He therefore slept in and then I went out my way to explore.

I first decided I wanted to get a bite to eat as it was now about 1 pm and I had not even had breakfast. I used 2nd Chance's map and walked to the Chinese Restaurant that he had put on the map and had a very good meal. Not speaking a word of Spanish I used the talking translator for the entire visit asking for a table for one, ordering the meal (the translator even knew who to order Kung Pao Chicken) and even asking for a to go box for the unfinished food. They are very handy. The Golden China Restaurant I must say is a very good restaurant. They served me a HUGE plate of food and the entire bill was only $112 pesos including the drink. I highly recommend that restaurant if you like Chinese food. 2nd Chance must like it too since he put it on his map. After I was done eating I walked south to check out the quadrangle strip club area. It was fairly early still so all four clubs were closed. I was expecting that but at least I had an idea of what to expect as far as finding them for later.

I then returned to the area of my hotel and walked around the zona. There were not many girls in the Zona. There were like 2 in the Hotel Nuevo Pacifico and 2 in the Hotel Kennedy and another one in some hotel that is not on 2nd Chance's map that I can not remember the name of. Only one of the girls I saw in the hotels were really ones I would have considered to do. I decided to hold off though. I was approached by a street girl that was trying to solicit me. Even though the girl was pretty good looking I opted not to because I had read Apache's previous post about how he got in trouble with the policia for picking up a street girl and all the garbage he had to go through paying the bribe. Apache's post had said the policia had told him it was ok to pick them up in the clubs and the hotels but not on the street so I decided I did not want to chance it. I must say that was the only street worker I saw. Last time I was there with Apache the street was FULL of street working ladies. The policia must have really cracked down on that. I saw a Tranny at the La Casona which I of course avoided with a 20 foot poll. I then went into the Playboy Club as it seemed to be open. I guess it must open earlier. It was about 3 PM by this time. There were about 10 girls working and 8 of the ten were heifers and the other 2 were not spectacular but maybe were doable. I went in and the waiter seated me down and after I was there for about a half hour one of the 2 doable girls came and sat next to me. Her name was Marsella. Isn't technology wonderful? I can go to a country where I do not speak the language and still communicate with people. I took a small cat nap at this point. I looked next door and Granjefe's lights had seemed to be off so I guess he was still sleeping. It was about 4:30 PM at this point. After my phone was charged up again I went on another mission. This time I wanted to check out the strip clubs.

The first club I decided to check out was La Casona. I used 2nd Chance's map and walked there. It was not that great. I did not spend much time there. The girls were not that great looking. One girl walked up to me and in English offerred to give me a private dance for $20. That is nothing special, almost every club in Phoenix will give you a private dance for $20. I declined. La Casona seemed to operate pretty much like a standard American club. It was nothing special and the girls were not that great. I spent maybe a half hour in the place and left. I then left to go to the quadrangle area of clubs using 2nd Chance's map (Kaoz, La Mosca, Porky's and Miau Miau's).

I got down there and I first went to club Kaoz. I had read many reports about Kaoz on this board in the past and about how it is about the most raunchiest club in the city so I just had to see it. It had barely openned when I first got there so the girls were not dancing yet. A waitor named Hector who spoke perfect English took care of me and got me my drink. Since the girls were not out yet and he knew I was waiting for them he even gave me a free one just for haning out. Hector was a cool guy. Finally after haning out there for about 45 minutes Alicia comes out. Alicia was a very attractive lady 22 years old. I then went to Porky's (actually Granjefe had already been there) and it was true to its name. A bunch of porky looking ladies! Nothing there that was of interest. Granjefe and I then went to Miau Miau's and I must say they definitely have the best looking ladies. The ladies there were almost all hotties with maybe 1 or 2 exceptions. We spent a few minutes there but then decided to go back to Kaoz as I wanted to return to Alicia and Granjefe wanted to see what I had earlier described.

I am 40 years old so it is hard for me to perform in that amount of time especially since I was expecting to do whoever I was going to do at my hotel room so I had left the Viagara there. I said no but the waiter kept on trying to talk me into it. He then pulled me aside and told me that he was going to be the person that kept the time anyway and that if I would tip him another 30 he would let me have her for 2 to 3 hours. We then called it a night and the next day we went through the border with no issue. The Sunday line was very short. All in all my trip to Mexicali was a good time. Right now I am contemplating only going here since Algodones was such a let down as you can see from my Algodones post.

It is not what you answer was, but how you answered, their job is to screen people entering the USA, asking the purpose of your visit to Mexico is very legit.

You say friends, they ask who, you stumble or say "none of your business", would make them wonder if you are telling the truth, or have something to hide.

I agree the agents, especially the newer ones, lack training and tack, but they do have quite a job, I can only imagine how many shit heads they have to deal with daily, people with fake papers, drugs, etc. Make their job easier, not for their benefit, YOURS.

I would agree with just about everything Bbond wrote below. When they question me about the purpose of my visit to Mexico, I just answer with,"Women." They always wave me through. If I answered with,"None of your business," I would get hassled from them. If you're evasive with your answer, they can call you in for further questioning.

I'll also stick with my previous post, which may sound like a contradiction to what I'm saying here. It's not. They can still be assholes, and abuse their power, with the way they carry out their duties. I could go on and on, with specific examples, I've personally experienced, of how they conduct their business in an improper way, and abuse their power, which would bore the hell out of most people here, so I'll leave it at this.

I will give one example, although I could give many. One time I had a Customs officer who was outraged at how I was being treated by other Customs officials. I needed to have my work vehicle inspected, and some officers who were responsible for inspecting it, just stood in another area, and shot the shit with each other, for about 1 hour, instead of inspecting my vehicle. This officer asked how long I had been waiting for these officers to inspect my vehicle. I told him 1 hour. He told me I should file a complaint against them. I told him I wouldn't waste my time, filing a complaint against these officers. I told him my company had been filing complaints for years concerning these officers, and that it doesn't do any good. My point being, even he could see they were abusing their power with me, and conducting their business in an improper way. I can't preceed on, until these officers inspect my vehicle, and these officers knew that. Their attitude was, "Fuck you, you can wait. We're the big shots in charged." I told this Customs officer it was, "Just business as usual for these officers." I told him, and these were my words, "They pull this kind of shit all the time." He just shook his head, and walked away. And this wasn't something "personal" between me and these officers. All the other drivers drivng these kind of work vehicles that I drive get the same kind of lousy treatment from these officers. The drivers are aware of it, and the companies they work for, are very aware of it.

I come from a law enforcement family. And can tell you that it is not the answer you give, but how you give it. Show respect, whether they deserve it or not.

"It's none of your business" is NOT a good answer, it IS their business. The purpose of your visit, be it business or personal, is of concern to them.

Being what one may consider a "wise ass", is not a position you want them to put you in. Be honest, very honest, it's the best policy, they could care less if you went chasing putas.

But Do tell them the truth, in a round about way if you want, but don't play games. My generic answer is "drinking beer and chasing women". Once I was asked why I came so far to do that.

A law enforcement family member told me that your attitude is EVERYTHING, be honest, avoid wise cracks and your passage will go smoothly.

Cop an attitude? They will show you who is in charge.

I have been crossing into and from Mexico since 1968, and have never had an issue when mongering, just be honest, be straight with them, they have no desire to hassle anyone that is just having some fun.

Want them to put your car up on a lift and completely disassemble it? They CAN DO THAT if for any reason they suspect anything.

When entering the country, you can be subject to a FULL INSPECTION, including what's inside you, just give them a reason.

REMEMBER THIS, RESEARCH IT IF YOU SO DESIRE, BUT...,"By law, Customs officers have the authority to conduct enforcement examinations without a warrant, ranging from a single luggage examination up to and including a personal search."

I use to work a job in Laredo, where I crossed the Nuevo Laredo border 3 times per day, so I'm very familiar with these USA Custom asshole mother fuckers. They can abuse their power, and get away with it, which is exactly what they do. Really ain't much you can do about it. File a complaint about it, but they don't give a shit. Your complaint will just go into the trash can.

They like to play,"big shot." That's all this asshole was doing with you. Slap the cuffs on you," Oh, you's in big trouble." Makes them feel like big shots. They're just assholes. I worked with them for years, going back and forth across the border, and I have ZERO respect for U.S. Customs. I've seen them abuse their power numerous times. Ain't nothing you can do about it. They're just having their "fun." They laugh about it. They get off to it.

I did file a complaint, and yes I have his name and the supervisors name. I asked the supervisor if he thought that maybe the guy might need a little more training beacuse he over reacted in this case. The supervisor just shrugged and then said I was free to go. He asked if I was bringing anything back and I answered no. He then asked what was the purpose of my visit to Mexico and I answered 'visiting friends'. He then asked what was my friends name to which I replied ' that is none of your business'. At that point I was told to get out of my vehicle and was handcuffed for being 'not compliant' and was taken into the office. I was detained for about 25 minutes and then released. I have crossed this border for more than 35 years and have never had a problem, and I have been to secondary many times and nothing has ever been found in any of my vehicles. When is it their business who I visit? The only questions that I would consider valid are what was the purpose of your visit, how long you were in the country, am I bringing anything back, and what is my citizenship. I feel that if the inspector didn't like my answers, then send me to secondary. I feel being handcuffed was just a power trip on the inspectors part. The irony of this situation is I still didn't tell them the name of my friends. Perhaps next time I will just answer with 'Jose Garcia' because I still consider it none on their business. Only after I was handcuffed did I tell the inspector that he was an A- and that it was still none of his F- business who I was visiting. But I did tell him to "HAVE A NICE DAY"

Was in Mexicali last night. The original La Mosca next to El Nido has a new owner and has changed the name to Suite 69. The other La Mosca next to Miau Miau is still La Mosca!

I live in the Phoenix, Arizona area. It was 109 degrees here today. Arizonans don't think it is hot until it hits about 115. Granjefe is from Yuma which is even hotter than Phoenix. To us 110 degrees is a good day to have a stroll. LOL

having lived in mexicali for several years until a couple of years ago, i believe that i can answer your questions. On labor day weekend, a lot of gringos pass through mexicali on there way to san felipe. A few stop to monger a bit on their way down or on their way home, but not enough to effect the overall monger / chica ratio. The problem is the the heat. You are probably used to it because you live in arizona but this last saturday it was 59 degrees celcius (138. 2 farenheit) in mexicali. Also if you want to come back to usa on monday be prepared for a 3 or 4 hour wait to cross the border because of the gringos going home from san felipe. It is better to go home on sunday or wait until tuesday.

I am thinking about going to mexicali this weekend but am not sure yet. I will let you know.

If you gents would have a sentri trusted traveler passport your wait time would probably be 15 minutes.
