Stayed in the Hotel Mexico for the first time last night. 290pesos per night. Unlike most Zona hotels, they have no ST rates. Cramped but secure parking. Chica friendly, across the street from Playboy on Lerdo. Not a good place to get any sleep, the building's HVAC machinery is noisy all night.

1. Get a phone that uses a GSM chip. Your US phone may already use one, check under the battery. If it has a chip, it's GSM. US companies sometimes use "chipless" CDMA type phones.

2. "Unblock" your phone if you're using your US phone. Most Mexican phone stores or kiosks can do it for you. If you buy a phone in Mexico, this is unnecessary.

3. Buy a chip at any Telcel agent, 125pesos.

4. Here's the hard part (for non-Mexicans): Go to the nearest Telcel Customer Service Center ("Centro de Atencion a Clientes"). There's one near the Linea in the center of Mexical, but it's closed for earthquake repairs. The next closest to the border crossing is at the corner of Justo Sierra and Cauhtemoc (spelling?). Stand in the receptionist line. If you don't speak Spanish, hand the girl your passport and cell phone and say: "Registracion, pasaporte. " She'll get the idea. Mexicans can register over the phone, because they have a "Scur" (spelling) number akin to US social security numbers. Gringos need to give them a copy of the passport. Cell phone registration just became required by law on April 10, 2010.

5. Alternatively, have a Mexican friend register the service in their name. As long as you use prepaid service, there's no risk unless your friend is a narcotrafficker or terrorist.

Tried this place on Zuazua, corner of Altamirano on the other side of the street from La Taberna. Quality of girls was good, all at least a 7. More guys than I usually see in Playboy, El Gato Negro and others in the zona, so the ratio wasn't the best. Floor show, cute waitresses. No details on service. This was on a Sunday night. Maybe somebody else can drop in on a Friday or Saturday and report.

I did a 2 hour tour of Mexicali strip clubs last month, as I was heading along I-8. I crossed the border at 1:00am and my first stop at an automatic teller on Lopez Mateos, just past the Crowne Plaza hotel.

I couldn't find Guau Guau club, so I proceeded to the Cabana. Cabana is located on Lazaro Cardenas, east of Lopez Mateos, on the way to Establo. Cabana had about 12 dancers, mostly 6s and 7s and one 8, and twice as many men. Several of the girls started making blow job gestures at me as I nursed my beer. I declined. On site sex is clearly available in the little privado booths. I didn't see anything special so I moved on.

Next stop was La Mosca on Cuauhctemoc just east of Justo Serra. This place was pretty lively and also had about 12 girls, 6s and 7s and a couple of 8s, and about the same number of men. For me, strip clubs are the best source for finding P2P. You can get a pretty good idea of what you are getting into before you commit.

I decided to check out El Establo before leaving. Establo is basically a brothel. The bar was closed when I got there, but you can still partake in the activities after closing. You have to buy a six-pack of beer on ice from one of the attendants (140 pesos I believe), and then take a seat in reception room with an open doorway, windows and with tables. I felt welcome amongst the locals. I saw about six or seven working girls, but nothing better than about a 6 or 7. The girls mingle with guests until the wee hours. You can take the girls into a motel room for a fee of 700-800 pesos.

I would certainly return to Mexicali, especially if I had more time. It is easy to drive around this medium-sized city, especially with a little map study (I just used google maps). The city is smaller, less intimidating, and more accessible than other large border towns that I have seen. There are many opportunities for P2P, and although I didn't see any girls on this visit that I was interested in, I am sure that with more time, a gem could be found. I felt comfortable and welcome at all times. As usual, command of the language helps alot.

Settling in, hotel prices (non-zona) prices are down from what I remember. And a couple hotels (Chinesca in the zona and del Sol near Independencia) are offering ST rates (200pesos & 250pesos respectively) that I never noticed before. Hotel del Sol has parking in front of your room and they give you the key 350pesos per day. Hotel Chinesca in the zona is 350pesos per day, no on-site parking. Are they hurting for business? Suprisingly a few hotties in the zona stairwells mid-day. Maybe 90degrees Fahrenheit counts as cool enough to bring 'them out in Mexcicali compared to the usual temps. Girls of around a 7. 5 are offering standard 250pesos ST, add 100 pesos for oral, or naked, etc. From Hotel Nuevo Pacifico and Hotel 16 de Septiembre. Haven't roamed yet. These are first impressions only. Will report.

Well nice to place a post as it has been a long time. I have been busy ensuring my house being built in Ensenada is done so correctly. Anyhow I stopped in Mexicali on my way back from Ensenada.
