Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure that Calexico had a taxi service. Quite a few smaller (bigger than you think though) towns don't. I appreciate the huge amount of info that you have contributed to the forum!

As to the costs of flying, Not even thinking of commercial, my plane gets about the same MPG as my car and certainly is much faster. Add to that the complete lack of traffic and its a winning way to go. Since I would be on foot south of the border eitherway, It is an easy choice.

Calexico International airport to the POE is no problem as Jack says..and don't forget to try the ceviche at Rosa's Plane Food!

The economy must really be bad in Mexicali as I have never seen so many women working the streets. Ended up with Lupe who at age 37 complained about all the chicas fighting for business. She never did that before.
Prices are now in the $20-$30 range for FS and the hunting is good. Constantly see fresh and new faces in the 6-8 range. Haven't seen too many top end girls on the street so the clubs must be rounding them up. All of this relatively early for Mexico standards like from 7:00 p.m. (after sundown) on.
Again, hunting is always good in Mexicali.
CLX airport is close to the border but a little outside town. You may have to flag down a taxi or call one. Rosa's Cafe is a good restaurant and is known throughout the aviation community. Call from there. "Calexico International" does not have regular commercial service mainly private planes.

I think a commercial flight from Tucson to Imperial or Mexicali would make at least 1 stop, probably in Hermosillo, it would take all day and would be expensive. To me it would not be worth it to procure Mexicali poontang.

If you're a pilot who would fly yourself then you have the option of flying into Calexico airport parking your bird there and getting a less than 5 minute taxi ride to the POE.

But the cost to me is still kinda high unless you really enjoy flying and want to make an adventure out of it.

I read your notations and suggest parking in Calexico, walk across and taxi back.
If you take your car employ the crusin' method like the locals, drive until you see a girl on the street and start a conversation. I seldom use this method although I have done it in the past. I avoid this as cops may stop you for solicitation, a "gringo bust" or $20 to them.
My suggestion is just to go to a bar to sit and drink, that is what the locals do. Alternate drinks with an AQUA MINERAL (mineral water) to avoid getting too plastered. Believe me the women will approach or you ask them to dance. After one dance you are basically done. Watch the chicas that want the Saigon teas (multiple fichas) and if you drink beer order a ca-guam-a (sp) or quart. Cheapest place is Gallo Giro next is 3 Aces.
You got your Mexicali cherry busted, now is the time to get some serious pussy! As a side note HUNTING is always good in Mexicali. Good luck.

Your comments are of great interest to me. When you write, "girls waiting around for a few bucks," do you mean they are walking the streets? If yes, what time is the earliest to see the girls walking? Are they walking near the club Playboy? I ask these questions, because the last time I went to La Zona, (2 months ago), I did not see much street action around 6:00 p.m. Thanks

I had a good time though it was not without difficulities.

Thanks to the boardmembers directions, I was able to find El Establio, but unfortunately when I got there 7:00 pm on Sat.- it was empty.

So I headed to find Excalibur, but could not. I did see Giau Giau and by 8 there were no cars parked. The place looked like a bit of a glizty clip joint from the outside, so I decided to head to the Zone.

Thanks again to board members, I was albe to find the zone. I parked and went into Gato Negro. As soon as I entered, I was immediately told that a beautiful woman would sit with me. I said OK and the waiter brought me over an OK looking chica and totally ripped me off for her beer.

That left me with a bad feeling, so I split from her and went to the bar and drank. After that the waiters left me alone and I was able to scope out the place. I saw a red-haired chica that looked good, so I decided to ask her for a drink, but got an abrupt no! I then was feeling pretty dejected, because I had been hunting for hours and found nothing, so I asked a slightly older one that had a nice body and she had a drink with me. She was nice. Held my hand and smiled at me, etc. I asked her if she would go to a motel with me and she wanted 100 dollars. I offered a bit more than that for 2 hours and she said OK. I realize this is way over what you guys pay, but I was not having much luck and she was nice and had a good body. She took me to the hotel Kennedy and gave me a really good time. While I liked having my car with me in Mexicali, I would not take it next time, because having to get searched by the border patrol is a bad experience.

I can relate to your story because the first time I went, my experience was not that great and I also paid too much for sex--because I just wanted to get laid after a long day of hunting. One good thing about my last trip is that I found a good hotel on the U.S. side (therefore you will not have to drive your car). Agree with the foregoing. The upscale bars like MM employ the pros who travel from city to city on their circuit. If you frequent the upscale bars enough you will see some real knockouts. Again, the pros travel their circuit - GDL, Mex City, TJ, MXL, Cancun, others and work a few months then move to the next city.

An interesting side note. I always ask for the name of their surgeon. Have seen some excellent work as well as some butcher jobs!

Yes, it is true that La Taberna can be dangerous if you are in the law enforcement or drung enforcement business. But this is true with any nightclub in Mexico that has live Banda or Norteno music. The mafiosos in Mexico like this type of music and therefore hang out in nightclubs with this type of music. My friend that is part of the Mexicali Police Anti Kidnapping Unit will not go inside La Taberna because kidnapping is a major part of the business of the Mexican Mafiosos and known kidnappers hang out at La Taberna. They would probably kill my friend because he is an enemy to there business.

La Taberna was closed for a couple of nights last week because one of the patrons shot one of the guards. And we all know that firearms are NOT legal in Mexico.

It is like anything else in life. If you mind your manners and treat everybody with respect, the "bad guys" will generally leave you alone.
