Another "zona" question...I have spent very little tine in the zone although I know the rest of commercial Mexicali pretty well. I am curious about La Taberna...some posts mention it is a pretty good place to see some of Mexicali's finest professionals enjoying themselves on their days off. So what are the best nights to hit the place? Would that be during the week like Mondays & Tuesdays since those are probably slow nights at the showcase establishments?
I am assuming that the protocol there is to hit on the girls as if they are civilians and take it from there?
I have also heard that La Taberna has a reputation as being a "dangerous" place to hang out due to some of the patrons...I hear that a lot of lower to mid level drug business associates have been rumored to relax there and that immigration and drug enforcement personnel have been advised not to go there...true or false?
By the way I noted that YouTube has videos from La Taberna and Miau Miau posted..they aren't showing nudity and they are grainy as if from a cell phone but interesting to watch anyways.

I have a question for the experienced zone trippers in here. I went to the Gato Negro with a couple of buddies last weekend and there were a couple of good looking girls in there..well lets say they were 7-8's, not many but a couple. The whole time we were there I was itching to move on to the Playboy Club and the butt huts around there so I didnt even bother talking to any of the girls. I even left them there while I went out and scouted around outside.
My buddies told me after we left that the girls there are all working girls...and here I thought they were all civilians who just met up there and danced etc etc!
Is it a pro bar? They dont look like pro's!!
Not being much of a pick-up artist what is the protocol for taking one of these girls out? Is it all about buying them drinks until you cut a deal with them or do you have to pay an exit fee to the bar?

Have had mixed results there. Some of the "lookers" are there just to bring in men for drinks. You pay for their Saigon Tea and for a dance. Some of the lookers are with the band and not available OR with the band to get the numbers of patrons up. Good looking pussy does attract customers.
I have had fair results there and from my experience ALL ARE AVAILABLE if the price is right. Talk to them and see what happens. I always need to get my blood-alcohol level up so it is no waste to buy a beer with a ficha even if it ends with a rejection. As a side note, the older I get the better I handle rejection and to be "rejected" by some hooker does not hurt my feelings. They probably want to reject me for my low price offers, however, that is the name of the game in business especially when as a gringo I get a high quote for the zone.
As to the "lookers" good money seems to break down inhibitions and there is no harm in asking. If I don't score in one bar there is always another. Also, if you approach the girls all others see that you are at least interested in talking and making offers so many others WILL APPROACH YOU. Then the game gets interesting. Do you reject them? That's when I start to talk turkey.
Civilians. If they are at the bar they are not a civilian, period. Civilians go to Taberna or other bars 1 block South. A close associate of mine once said that there are no "civilians" in the zone in Mexicali. The more your face is seen in the zone the more the women will approach you. I have stood on a street corner and been approached by good looking stuff.
Zone prices are now low with starting prices at $15 and I never pay over $50 for FS. If you go to the high end bars you pay more, what else is new.
Taberna is good if the girl is alone. If girls come in a group they are all there to protect the other and no one gets laid - same rule in U.S. Good contacts can be made at Taberna and it is good for just dancing. The other rule is if she dances well she f**** well.

La Taberna is located on the street that is South and parallel with the street where the Playboy is located. Spartakus is across the street from La Taberna and El Norteno is next to La Taberna. La Teraza is on the corner of the street and Extremo is on the corner at the other end of the street.

I heard tonight that La Taberna is closed. Something to do with the Security Guards there doing something illegal. I will try to get the real scoop sometime tommorrow.

Grey Dove...I think the ratio of big breasted women in Mexicali is about the same as anywhere else in the world...and I have been all over!! You have some small, some large, and mostly average. Slender girls tend to have smaller boobs then the heavier girls. If you go the "upscale" bump n grind houses like Miau Miau and Gaiou Gaiou (spell check!!) you will probably see a higher ratio of enhanced boobs and harder bodies to boot. Happy hunting!

Agree with the foregoing. The upscale bars like MM employ the pros who travel from city to city on their circuit. If you frequent the upscale bars enough you will see some real knockouts. Again, the pros travel their circuit - GDL, Mex City, TJ, MXL, Cancun, others and work a few months then move to the next city.

An interesting side note. I always ask for the name of their surgeon. Have seen some excellent work as well as some butcher jobs!

Went to BSD a few weeks ago and say a few "enhanced" girls there. Otherwise you have a lot of hunting to do. Be careful though many of the women have had too many tacos and are BIG all over.

You were definitely in La Taberna, which is one of my favorite hangouts. Locals go there and the gals that work at BSD, El Establo, Excalibur, Miau Miau, etc , etc, etc go there on there nights off to have a good time.

El Centro is in Mexicali. It is the original "downtown" of Mexicali. It is also known as the zona on this board. Nowadays, the downtown section is Southwest of El Centro and is known as Centro Civico. It is where all of the new government buildings are located.

It seems like now I am spending all of my time in El Establo. I went to La Taberna the other night on a date with my favorite that works at El Establo and ended up at my house afterwords.

Rico Cafe is quite correct. I've been spending more time recently at Kaos with my current favorita and I've been amazed at just how "stupid drunk" seems to be the norm there. Here's my question: There were a couple references to bars in El Centro??? Is that the El Centro on the US side of the border? Is the bar you are refering to in US El Centro? If so, can you confirm the name and location?

In this case el centro referrs to the old downtown section of Mexical relatively close to the port of entry as opposed to El Establo or Guau Guau which are located some distance from downtown

Arch West...sounds like you had a great time and scored a hot civilian! Muchos kudos to you! The bar you're talking about sounds like La Taberna, I have heard that the place is really full of people out to party on weekends but I haven't gotten there yet although we tried last night!
Last night, Saturday the 8th me and 3 of my pals went for an excursion of the bars within walking distance of the POE. We walked across because we have an unconfirmed report that the wait coming back is up to 2 hours now...glancing over it did look long.
We hit up Casonas which isnt real high on my list, didnt see much talent so we had a beer and moved on. Checked in La Jarra Jarra (?) it s a place across from Miau Miau's where they have girls wearing something close to a uniform and I understand that you can take them out with some negotiation. but only a couple of the 10-12 girls there looked worth doing and the prices sounded high to me. I do recommend having a chabela (beer w/clamato) there, might be the best in town. Again, I'm going to totally trash the spanish here, but I had a great time in Mexicali. Again, I parked my car in Calexica at the shopping centers near the POE. No problem, just park, and walk across. Until the first of the year you only need your driver's license to get back across.

I crossed, grabbed a cab and told him to take me to La Zona. I don't speak spanish, but it was no problem.

I got out and walked to a bar area. I apologize, but I don't remember the name. It's about a block away from the stip joints.

They had a cover charge of about $5.00 USD. The bar had three areas; two were just bar areas with bands, the third area was a bar where scantily clad chicas danced. This was all under one roof.

I hung out in the two bar areas outside the strip club area. This seemed to be a local hang-out. I danced with a number of women that were local....or seemed to be since our communication was limited. It was great fun and there were alot of local women.

I hit on one that spoke english. She was an english teacher at a local school. After about 1 hours of dancing I asked to go back to her car. She gave me a ride to the POE. We had a great make out session and I guess I got her going because she offered to go to a hotel with me. For $40.00 USD we went to hotel near POE. Two hours later I was making my way back across the border feeling quite good about my erotic teacher encounter.

I wish I could remember the name of the bar...but my guess Joe Arturo or Mexicali Jack will chime in with a name of the bar. It was great fun, if you're looking for an experience outside the normal pay-as-you-go reality.
