As you can see from my handle I have been all about Thailand. Even lived there full time for 8 years. Now STUCK here in US and trying to make a plan. I understand that I can arrive Mexico by air. Good to see that there might be an option. Mind if I ask how you manage phone service? I am used to getting a local sim in my Asian travels. Is that what you do? I'll keep reading here. What's good everybody! I'm arriving to mty 11 de Nov. Excited! I decided to stay in the centro by the macroplaza so I'll give a report on it. I've got a handful of chicas lined up from sa and will also source off regios, lucesazules and twitter. I struck out on sa my last attempt in gdl so will see how this goes. Not sure about the spas. I have not been to any of them. Hotels are getting stricter every day. You can still work around the rules, but you need to be much more careful. Restaurant will close again.

If MTY goes into Lockdown I would wait unless you already have been here. There will be too many challenges and obstacles.

Please elaborate on what you meant when you said "hotels are getting stricter every day. " In what way, exactly?

By my calculation, Mexico's COVID stoplight map is next scheduled to be updated on November 9. That's a few days before I'm supposed to leave for Monterrey, so if Nuevo Leon gets the "red stoplight," I'll have enough time to cancel my hotel reservation without penalty.

Exactly what I didn't want to hear. Although the newest COVID "stoplight" map has Nuevo Leon painted as orange, the article specifically mentions that it's in danger of regressing to red due to increasing COVID cases:

So if Monterrey goes into lockdown, restaurants are closed and only open for takeout, correct? Would the spas remain clandestinely open and the Twitter WGs still visit hotels?

Not sure about the spas. I have not been to any of them. Hotels are getting stricter every day. You can still work around the rules, but you need to be much more careful. Restaurant will close again.

Bad news, last night they closed down the Casino, they were letting in VIP, but you had to buy in for $500-1000. They are also talking about doing another shutdown in November again, this would be devastating, we will hope for the best.

Mex banking regulations are a little lenient. The source will direct message you a debit card number typed or photo. Take that to an Oxxo or 7-11 and tell them you want x pesos deposited into the 16 digit card. Cash only no tarjeta. 150 pesos plus a 9 peso fee and 159 pesos later, got a printed deposit receipt. Snap a photo holding the transfer receipt and send the pic as a direct message.

Also doing this same method for non monger custom made Halloween decorations with a tailor in Reynosa. (We'll see how this pans out).

So far Matehuala is still closed (boo) and shocker for me, Masajes Deseos is gone gone. Doors Windows rolled shut, neon signs yanked out. They weren't the greatest, but they weren't too far out of direction to peek inside real quick just to see what's on tap. Had a few xp in there.
