I am curious of the benefits of driving to Laredo and then taking a bus to MTY from Nuevo Laredo, if there is a direct greyhound bus from Austin to MTY is available. Costs about $50 one way.

I took it once. It was not bad at all. Just the border crossing at night was exhausting as all had to disembark, pick the luggage and stand in the long line.

It is so I can legally bring back into the USA By ped crossing not more than 50 dosage units per day of Tafil (Xanax) a controlled substance for personal use only and do this twice over 2 days. If take the bus can only do it once when crossing back. However wondering how safe my car will be on the USA Side in a parking lot? There is also a city bus to "y Griega" metro station. Its stop is not in front of the terminal, but on the main road across the terminals, which is a 1 minute walk.

It runs every 20 minutes and cost something like 15 peso.

I took it a few times. The busses are large and modern. Have places for luggage. But they make many stops along the way and can get crowded during rush hours.

I take Ubers to MTY, but I've never tried to have one pick me up. I've heard of people walking to the gas station that is at the end of the street and calling them, but it seems like a lot of work to me.

Four years ago, I had an Uber pick me up but he was leery of the Federales. A few months ago, lines to get taxis were super long, so I got an Uber. You are right. I walked to a 7-11 down the road and it worked but it was a super big pain in the ass.

This was a countermeasure to the taxi unions using strongarm mafia tactics of hiring "halcons" spotters camping on rooftops with binoculars and walkie talkies reporting Uber drivers picking up at airport cutting into taxi business. Then Uber drivers wake up next day and find their tires slashed or worse.

That really was a thing a few years ago, not sure if situation has improved and Nuevo Leon / airport officials have cracked down, chased off the spotters / goons.

Has anyone kept count / track of their encounters? I've been briefly into and out of the hobby a few times and I'm somewhere over 100.

Forgot to mention, the name of the bus brand is "Noreste" it will be in a mix of arrival kiosks labeled Hertz, Avis, taxi, Noreste. The actual bus that parks outside might say Noreste or might be painted like Viva Aerobus.

If heading back from Central Bus Station, the large ticket counter (boletos) Noreste is all the way on left side.

I can confirm that as recently as October, the Ubers would not go to the airport. I'the assume that the funny business is still happening.

My workaround has been to book a hotel near the airport and use their shuttle. But those places charge over 100 per night. That's been my go to. A nice hotel upon landing and an In call from a reputable agency.

Terminals A and see and Volaris and Viva Aerobus. Terminal be is AeroMexico. Entire airport being overhauled in phases, may literally walk in construction zone getting to baggage claim. For some reason shuttles don't like to cater to be so need to make a short walk over to Terminal A.
