If you had to choose between one evening/night in Nogales and one in Juarez, which would you choose? I'm a first timer in both those cities, but am very comfortable in Tijuana and other destinations. My Spanish is passable but not fluent. Also, it would be a Saturday night, and I will have a car if that makes a difference.

I realize that this is a very particular question, and that people reading this forum probably have a fondness for Nogales. But still, anyone have any comments on which one of the two I should visit? I COULD, if necessary, visit both, but that would add an extra day (and cost) to my trip that I would rather not if I could avoid it.

Of course I have read over both forums, but I don't recall any comparisons between the two cities. So, what are your thoughts?

You will find maps of various cities in Mexico, not just Nogales, including Nuevo Laredo, Rocky Point, Monterrey, etc.

To tell you the truth, Nogales is one of the smaller cities that I have visited in Mexico. All the clubs are close to the border except for the Conga. The Conga is not that far from the border either, only about 5 to 8 blocks away.

Thank you for your posts; they are most helpful. I'm going to Nogi soon for the first time. (I generally post in the TJ and Mexico City forums.) Will for sure check out the eastside clubs. Can you walk to the eastside safely during daylight hours from the border crossing? Or, how much does a cab cost?

Also, I am reading the Nogi forum and have noticed several hotel recommendations such as Granada Hotel, Olivia Hotel, and Hotel 47. Do you know of a hotel on the eastside?

Walking to all the clubs on either side of the railroad tracks, other than the brothel (La Conga) is easy and safe. I've never had a problem in all the years I've been going there alone or with another monger. Your only annoyance is the touters that will latch on to you to show you the way to the clubs. These guys usually want a dollar for showing you the way, but you can be firm and refuse their service. If you're going to La Conga, then definately take the $5 cab ride. Don't walk there, because it's not safe to venture into that part of town and it's a bit of a distance from the border.
