That taxi webpage doesn't quite work. Just give me a ballpark figure from Zona Romantica to Zona Roja. I know that rates will vary, and I always ask the driver first, but I just want to know what the balllpark rate is so that I don't get totally ripped off.

Should I ask the driver to just take me to Zona Roja? Will he accept that? Orwill he try to drop me off at a place where he can collect a fee?

A few years ago I paid 120 pesos from Zona Romantica to King George, which is in the same zone as Tapanko, but not as far. Zona Romantica to the airport (farther) was well under 200 pesos. I don't know the current rate. Most hotels have the rates posted in the lobby, based on their location with various destinations listed. If you don't see it, look in the lobby of the hotel next door or ask at the front desk.

You should always talk to the driver before you get in the taxi. Tell him you want Tapanko. If he doesn't know where that is, say Zona Roja. If he still doesn't know, find another driver. Then ask the price. Some drivers might tell you the place you want is closed, and they will suggest a different club where they get a commission. Just say no.

The area where Mamitas and Sahara clubs are located might be considered a second zona roja, according to this article:

Zona Roja has Tapanko, Vizzio and El Patron (formerly Alazanas), as well as Pedregal short term motel. It is sort of a dead end street called Privada Politecnico Nacional, if you look on the map, but is really just a big dirt parking lot. It is safe to walk from one club to the other. King George is on the main road just north of the river shown on the map. It is a fancy sports bar. I remember there were several TVs when I was there, but I didn't look to see what they were tuned to. It is next door to Aquah strip club. Places like Aquah, Harem and Disturbio are very expensive. The girl quality is a bit better on average, but not worth the price. These expensive strip clubs are known to cheat tourists who show up alone, get very drunk and run a tab. I suggest you take a friend, stay sober and pay for each service as it occurs. Many of the waiters will speak good English, but not the girls. The lower priced clubs like Tapanko are safer, at least for your wallet. At any club in Mexico you need to watch out for theft. Don't take expensive jewelry or cell phones to the clubs. If you don't have a friend, at least stay sober and don't run a tab. The bars like King George and Antorchas are quieter, brighter and safer than the strip clubs. You could run a tab there.

The massage parlors depend on the place. They often have a girl at the front door. Just ask them "Sexy massage?" They will either say no, or else tell you the prices.

Excited for my first long-weekender to PV. Been reading the forum. Looking forward to checking out King George in the day, Tapankos in the evening. Maybe 4 Play or Prestige for eye candy.

A couple of questions:

1. What is a typical cab fare from Zona Romantica to the Zona Roja, which is where I presume that Tapankos is?

2. What/where exactly is the Zona Roja? Is that the nickname for a particular street? I am having a hard time nailing that down. Is it safe to walk around there?

3. What else is good in the immediate vicinity of Tapankos? Mamitas?

4. Is King George really a sports bar. I. e. , do they have multiple TVs? I wanted to catch some NBA and hockey games in the next few days.

I'm staying at Secrets in the hotel zone. I know there are several massage places right outside the front gate. Can you have fun in these places or are they strictly massage only? Also there are a couple of strip clubs within walking distance. Harem and Disturbio, I think. Are they safe to go in if you are by yourself and don't speak much Spanish?

Could you, perhaps, go on googlemaps.com and identify the location by listing the restaurants / shops that are adjacent to it? Is it facing the marina, or on one of the side streets leading into the marina? I was recently in PV for an extended period and do not recall seeing this place. Too bad I did not know about it then. I'm a frequent reader but not a heavy poster. I've spent most of my time in Dubai and Thailand and as everyone knows those forums are thick with information. My contributions probably wouldn't be all that helpful there. I was fortunate to take a trip to Puerto Vallarta and I saw a lack of information. I asked the 'presenter' if she was obtainable and she politely explained she was only a C4 girl. I believe that was B2 be with a hand job, but don't quote me on that. I'm normally a C6 guy which is full service. I excused myself and said I would return another day when I had more time.
