Nothing takes place in dollars in either Costa Rica or Mxico unless you allow it to be so. I have lived in both countries and as soon as dollars come out of someone's mouth, I am on to the next one. My guess would be that you can't speak any Spanish, and when that becomes obvious, the dollar signs appear above your head. You could always try paying in Ozzie dollars and feign surprise when the woman doesn't want to accept them.

Given the benefits of the doubts, I do speak Spanish but I could tell the locals were making fun of my ascent however though my issue was that I did not do my homework and I assumed that I could impress and get a good deal negotiating in dollars. Lesson learned, this time I am using the local currency I know the dollar is $ 1 against 18.85 pesos but it fluctuates plus banks charges 0.0566% which total out 17.85 pesos per dollar.

I haven't been to PV in a few years. Last time had some amazing times at El why Ella, especially with their "VIP" area so you could try them out before before committing on leaving club with them. Well I'm back and looking forward to a night out but not wanting to travel around too much. If you had to choose between Sahara / Mamitas and Tapanko / Vizzio which would you choose and why?

I have read lots of comments by members of this forum saying Tapanko is their favorite club. I haven't heard much about Mamitas. I haven't been to either club. My favorite was Andromeda. It is closer to Zona Romantica, where I like to stay. The prices were only slightly higher than Tapanko. They had a great lineup the last time I was there a few years ago. I had been going there every year for a long time and they never tried to cheat me like all the other clubs. However, I see on their facebook page someone left a comment that they cheated them. All of these scams are a good reason for newbies to take the red zone tour or else get Rogelio the taxi driver to take them. One time they tried to cheat me at a club on the red zone tour and the guide fixed it.

Another problem at the strip clubs is pressure to tip. I got to know one of the waiters at Andromeda. He told me he wasn't paid by the club. His only income was tips. That is probably the reason they pressure you to tip. Even the low priced clubs will ask for a tip. At the high priced clubs they ask you to tip the doorman, the waiter, the manager, the bathroom attendant, the guy who times your session in the back room and of course the ladies. In my early days I went to a high priced club and got a rude surprise. Even though I didn't run a tab, when I tried to leave I was surrounded by about 7 or 8 men who demanded a tip.

This was my first time at Harem's even though I come to PV a few times/year. This place was way way overpriced.. like Highway Robbery. I've been to tons and tons of strip-clubs all over the world and I have to say they kinda exaggerated on the prices. I can't even recall what my tab was but it was like "are you f** kidding me?" I bought maybe a total of 3 beers and a few shots and I couldn't believe my eyes AND I was completely sober. Jeez, I can't even imagine what the damage could've been if I were drunk!

We all agreed that Harem lacked the "WOW" factor. It was nothing special nor fun. The drinks prices were also quite high. We didn't inquire about the prices so when the bill came, we were in for a BIG surprise! 6 bottles of beer and 3 shots costs us almost $400 USD!

This place is absolutely terrible. $170 for 6 drinks. Pretty much double what the menus say on them. Our taxi drover dragged us here even though we told him we wanted to go closer to downtown. The cab driver who took us home said it was a cartel ran strip club.

$340 in drinks!!! They are not worth it!!! The club is hardly entertaining and I've seen much better dancing and nudity in America. I thought things would be more extensive here and HELL NO. Just expensive! I will never come back!

This is a common story at these high priced tourist clubs on the main road. I have heard the same story when Disturbio was called Prestige. That is why you should pay as you go, not run a tab. If you do pay cash as services are rendered, the next scam to watch out for is the switch. You hand them a large denomination note, and using a sleight of hand trick, it becomes a 20 peso note once they take it from you. They claim that is what you gave them and you need to pay more. To counteract this, you should hold out the larger note, and before you hand it to them, ask if they can change a (whatever denomination) bill. This scam is even done at some lower priced clubs.

Just down the street from Disturbio is a small club called Andromeda. It is across the street from the Sheraton hotel, and around the corner from the bank. It became my favorite club because it was the only place I went where they didn't try to cheat me. They also had the private dance, but instead of 560 for 12 minutes it was 200 for 8 minutes (a few years ago). Earlier in the evening, the guy who keeps time would sometimes forget, and I often got 20 minutes before the knock on the door. Like a lot of clubs, the waiters do sometimes ask for a tip if you don't offer one. If you run a tab, 10% is added for a tip at most clubs.

Once again I had a tour client that went to Aquah and was ripped off. My client says that he and a friend are taken to Aquah by a cabdriver. The cab drivers do this because Aquah pays them a 500 peso commission for each guy. They walk in and are quickly ushered into a VIP room and brought Puerto Vallarta escorts and drinks. After only 2-3 hours they are presented with a $6000 US Dollar tab. That would be roughly 100,000 pesos. After many threats and much pressure from the staff my client and his friend bring the tab down to $3900 US Dollars. This is how they make their money. They inflate the tab and then threaten to call the police if you don't pay it (and since they pay the police, they will make you pay it). Aquah is notorious for this type of practice and does it regularly. So please people be careful when you go to these high priced strip clubs that dont care about you or if you return. All they want is to get as much money from you as quickly as possible.

Another way to avoid the scams is to avoid the strip clubs altogether. Just go to bars like King George, Las Antorchas, La Botana, Golden Boy and Los Corrales, or else the massage places like Coni Spa.

So had my first night out in Vallarta in about 2-3 years. Went out around 9-10 pm tonight and tried King George. Place was pretty dead. Got matched up with a very cute girl, roughly a 7, who claimed she was 24. Though she was sweet and spoke decent english, she was extremely timid and the entire time seemed like work, so I left after a few drinks. Headed to Disturbo because I had very pleasant past experiences when it was Prestige. Got there around 11 and I was only customer there. A very cute girl came by who spoke decent english and quickly made me forget the lack of activity. A tiny bit on the heavy side but had an ass that I couldn't say no to, so I bought her a few drinks. When I was ready to call it a night about an hour later she convinced me to do a run in the private dance room for 560 mx for 12 minutes which I couldn't say no to. Again, that ass (paid cash). Time in the room was amazing. No sex but DFK and when I pulled my dick out she grinded with enthusiasm over her thong. Again, that ass (ended with a 20 USD tip). I had to leave, but loved the time spent, and made plans to return tomorrow for some full service (can't remember the price) I paid bill with CC (yes I know), they appeared to show me bill through an iphone with a CC attachment that came out to about 1600 mx. After signing on phone they said they needed to take card and ID for photocopy. I leave get in cab, and then immediately get an alert on my phone that they tried to charge me about 32000 mx (roughly 1600 USD). Luckily AmEx is great and I immediately called and said not a chance. They denied the charges and all is good. I'm disappointed though, because I was looking forward to returning tomorrow for more, but they are now permanently crossed off the list. Tomorrow is a new day!

Dropped by here for the first time today. It was a little after noon. I'm actually kind of impressed by the place; it's nicer than my straight massage provider's. There were 3 girls at the bottom of the stairway, and 2 more just a couple yards east, in a small courtyard with a table and a sign advertising it. They were all wearing matching, dark blue tops and jeans (uniforms) advertising Coni. Almost looked like a girl's soccer team. They were all early 20's, and 7's & 8's, IMO.

A cutie named Marisol lead me upstairs to a room. $350 for a massage, and other than that, she spoke no English. She did give me a decent, if not great, massage on the back side. On the flip, I asked if she offered "special services". First time I've asked that anywhere, and was hoping I wouldn't be slapped. She seemed a little confused at first, then asked if I wanted, "Happy-nice?" I said yes, and she showed me the prices on her phone. They were in stilted English, but still not completely comprehensible. #1 was he $850, #2 was Topless $1000. Three and four were harder to understand. I assume they were BJ, and then full sex. Didn't look long enough to catch the prices, but I opted for Topless. She had a nice rack and held them over my head for a few minutes, while she completed the massage. Then moved down to the HJ. Unfortunately, she blocked the small lamp doing this, so I didn't get much of a view in the dark. Other than that, I have no complaints. She was well practiced, and deftly brought me off with just the right amount of grip and pressure. Afterward, she provided me with a bottle of water, and I gave her a $200 tip. Very nice experience, especially for a first time there.
