The other night I was wandering around downtown in an tequila haze at 3AM when 2 cops stopped me. They had me empty all my pockets to see what I had. Then they told me to be on my way. When I checked my dough, there was $300 (US) gone. The guy at the hotel said there was nothing I could do about it.

I don't like critcizing too often, but here goes: why were you walking around in a foreign country at 3am in a drunken haze with $300 on you? Maybe you could paint the word "Target" on the back of your shirt? You didn't watch the wallet like a hawk?

One of the tricks I've learned in mexico, when asked by the cops to empty my pockets, is to do so, but hold the wallet in my hand. If they ask to peruse it or hold it, I open it first and take the cash out and keep it in my hand, so they can clearly see it. While there were times they wanted to hold everything in their hands, they knew exactly what I was doing by not letting them touch the money.

And the police stopped me while I was walking home after getting off the bus in Bucerias. They had me empty my pockets. And when they gave me my wallet back the $136 US I had in it was gone. And so was all my change. In the 20 or so years I've been coming to Mexico the police have stopped me a few times. But they had never taken anything before. So now I'm very careful about how much money I have on me. Especially if I know that I'm going to be drinking. And if I need to have a lot of cash on me I put it in my sock. The guy at the hotel was right. There's nothing you can do about it. Just chalk it up to experience.

I recommend you guys to talk to the your embassy about this the next day it happend! If the embassy gets a few reports from several person they will do something like they already did after the US embassy in Vallarta received a few reports about the Transito (traffic) police beeing corrupt and taking driving licence away by saying things that where not true. As a result a few police chiefs got fired and the new chiefs want to hold there position by kicking corrupt police officers out. Also ask the police officers about there name and number by letting them show you there I'd card. If you ask them to see it they must show you! This also pulls them off of doing things like this because you have there name and number.

This is why I always bring a 2nd wallet with only 1 cc, and only the cash I need for just that day in it. Sorry you learned the hard way. I also never get drunk anymore, but that´s a different issue and I won´t preach, it simply is my preference at this stage of my life.

Calle Guatalmala (near sports field a little south of the Sheraton) was very active a couple of nights I was there. But lots of TV's, so be sure what's under the hoods, guys. A cantina (I think I the 400 block) starts a 3 member live band about midnight.

Met Giadys at Alanzas (sp?) (across from Stavaganza). For 900 pesos she took me back to her room (seedy) along the side. She is pretty and friendly. 36 yrs old with 3 boys (2 teenagers). She promised DFK (besos profundos) , but really didn't get any passion. Too much tequila on my part to deliver, but she tried. I rate attitude an 8. Passion a 3. I have her number which she was glad to provide when I told her I would post on the net. She said she is avaible privately from noon to about 6. I'll definitely be checking out Platinos next week! Any other mid-level recommendations? What about a good place for Lap dances? I can do those all night long!

I found Platino to be the best for lap dances. They are 125 Pesos (about $10) for five minutes. Most of the other places charge the same or more for one song, which is only about three minutes. The private rooms are bigger than the tiny booths some places use for lap dances. Be warned, the staff at Platino will ask for tips (in a polite way though). I still like that better than the other clubs that try to cheat you on your bill or your change (and they still ask for tips). The lineup of girls working seems to change drastically from one night to the next, so keep that in mind if they don't have one that is your type the first time you go. Supposedly they open at 8:00 pm but even by 9:00 there may be only a few girls that have arrived yet. It is next door to Hotel & Suites Coral if you are having trouble finding it, half a block in from the Bancomer that is across the main street from Club del Sol.

Rolex and El Y Ella have a deal where you buy a pitcher of beer and you take the girl to the VIP room for as long as it takes to drink it. The VIP room at El Y Ella is very large, but the lap dance booth is tiny. Lap dances at El Y Ella were 150 Pesos for one song, so the VIP room might be a better deal. The VIP room at Rolex is also large, and they use it for lap dances too. The dancer quality at Rolex seemed lower on average, but there were a few good ones.

Osiris in the zona had some nice looking women but they charged 200 pesos for a lap dance.
