There has been some confusion about the cover charge at Andromeda. Some people say they were charged 100 pesos cover. According to their Facebook page there is no cover. I had a lengthy discussion with one of the waiters about it. He said they have to compete with other strip clubs, which forces them to follow some of the same practices. The most well known is the taxi driver kick-back. The clubs pay the taxi driver for bringing them a new customer. Some clueless tourist gets a taxi outside his five star all inclusive resort and asks the driver where the girls are. The driver then takes him to the club with the highest kick-back. If the tourist asks about some other club but that one doesn't pay the driver, he will tell the tourist it is closed. This scheme exists in other places like Las Vegas also. The bottom line is that Andromeda will charge you 100 pesos cover if you arrive by taxi. They don't know that you asked the driver to take you there.

Andromeda is located half a block in from the main road. There is often a tout standing on the corner that works the same deal as the taxis. He will promise you a free drink and free lap dance for the 100 peso cover. If you let him go to the entrance with you, they will charge you 100 pesos cover. Once inside, the staff there don't know anything about the free drink or dance. Those are lies made up by the tout.

If you arrive on your own, are a tourist, don't speak Spanish and have never been there before they will try to charge you the cover. In this case the doorman gets the cover fee instead of the taxi driver. Your options are to pay the cover, start to walk away and see if they drop the cover, or boldly say "no cover" and walk in. Even better is to quickly open the door yourself and walk in before they even have a chance to say anything about a cover charge. If you walk in without paying the cover, the doorman will then think you know there is no cover, so he probably won't follow you inside. If he does, you can mention that their Facebook page says there is no cover. If you pay the cover charge the first time you are there, you can usually get them to not charge you when you return the next day, since you are now a regular.

For locals and regulars, there is no cover charge, just like their Facebook page says! Typical Mexican double standard.

Visited King George last night. Fairly nice place. Some OK girls, some not. Girls drink is US $20. Rooms were OK. 30 minutes in room with girl about 2200 Pesos.

I was quoted on many occasions 1200 for 30 minutes, and that with the jacuzzi room. Why they quoted you these prices I have no idea, as that is literally crazy. Sorry to hear this Henry!

Its bad business too, there are a couple girls there I would have tried for their actual prices.

I confirm the prices mentioned by Henry. The taxi driver said that 30 minutes in Aquah costs 3000 pesos, so 2200 seems like a discount for the same girls. I find it hard to believe 1200 pesos for 30 minutes at King George though, since that would be the lowest price anywhere, at an upscale place no less. If it were for 15 minutes I might believe it. Maybe there is a two price system; one for gringos and one for locals. Maybe it depends on your Spanish skills.

OldParr: please check the price again next time you're at King George. Ask them if they have a different price for gringos. If so, please mention they are losing business because of it. If they charged everyone 1200 pesos for 30 minutes, they would take most of the cruise ship business away from Las Anthorchas. They would also gain a lot of business from tourists looking for a day time place.

When they quoted me $20 for the lady drink, I said I only had pesos and they charged me 200 pesos, so they are only giving a 10 to 1 exchange rate on the dollar.

Is Andromeda better than Taboo in terms of quality and value?

I went back to Andromeda last nite. They had about a half dozen very good looking girls, and Im picky.

Went to Andromeda Wed night.2500 pesos (US $200) for one hour. The guy there said that: The girls will spend 2 hours with you for same price if you want. I took a pretty good looking babe to a nearby motel for that price. She stayed for close to 2 hours. She was excellent!

Taboo was 2700 pesos for 30 minutes. The meseras were pretty pushy there, and insisted on a tip, so I bounced before taking a girl. They said they had 20 girls there but I only saw 5-6, and 1 was doable for me.

Based on these reviews I would say Andromeda beats Taboo on quality and value. Andromeda currently has the best lineup I have ever seen there. The best selection occurs on weekends and after 11:00 pm. It is a small place though, and not fancy.

Tapanko is a favorite of mine. On a weeknight I was told $1300 pesos, on a weekend night I was told $1500 pesos. I don't know if some girls can charge more or if the price changes based on the night.

Tapanko has price discounts on Tuesdays and Wednesdays according to their Facebook page.

Who the hell pays $20 US for a drink for a stripper?

That is the going rate you pay for a ladies drink no matter if it is Aqua, Hysteria, or any of the similar places. The days of ten dollar ladies drinks passed us by a long time ago.

The small lady drink at Andromeda is 120 pesos which is about equal to $10. It is the same size glass as the $20 drink at King George. The large lady drink at Andromeda is 240 pesos, about $20. The waiter pointed to a bottle of beer when he quoted that price.

Tapanko is a favorite of mine. Lady drinks were $130 pesos for a glass.

I have been to Aqua many times but never to King George. If they are next door, same owners and same girls, what is the difference?

I used to like Taboo better than Aqua though in quality and value. I like the DJ at Aqua.

Aqua is a strip club and opens late. King George is a sports bar and opens at noon. There is no stage or strip show at King George. What I like about King George is the quiet well lit environment where you can see and talk to the women. It is a classy place. However, they had the air conditioning turned too high and I got cold and wanted to leave.

I agree with Henry R. The women at Andromeda look better. Out of abut 15 women only one was chubby. They have a lot of spinners. It is not a fancy place, but at least they have now replaced some of the bench seating that had holes in it. After a few years without change they have now increased their prices, at least for gringos. It is now 1150 pesos for 15 minutes, 1850 for half hour and 2500 for an hour. You don't want to spend an hour in the tiny rooms in the back, so take her to a hotel for the same price. The lady drinks are still 120 pesos for a small one or 240 pesos for a large one. Lap dances are 200 pesos for 8 minutes. I don't know the prices at Taboo, but I expect it has better furniture, but they would have to have better women than King George and Aquah to be as good as Andromeda.

Mr Thomas's post of Nov 15 writes that he was quoted 2000 Pesos for 30 minutes at King George.

That is fairly close to what I was quoted there.

By the way, I went back to Andromeda last nite. Did not take out a girl.

I usually arrive in town via cruise ship. No taxi necessary from the pier dock. There is a little place right across the street next to and connected to a food place, tacos I think, It looks completely plain from the outside. White walls and an entry way is all you see.

I heard Las Antorchas has changed. The entrance has moved over a bit and the inside layout is different. They even moved the sign. Now it is over the entrance. Supposedly you don't even see the women when you first walk in. They are in a separate room. Anyone been there recently to confirm?
