Hi Munch. I opted for a colonial city and I never went back to the States.
The Colonial Cities are the best bet for a mature man who only occasionally partakes in our hobby. They are safer and much less expensive than the larger cities. The real Mexico experience is to be had in these cities. Not to take anything away from Monterrey, Guad. and the DF, but life is just a little bit sweeter there.
Obviously, if you've read any of my posts, I recommend Morelia. It's a bit off the beaten tourist path, so there aren't any tourist scams yet to be seen and you probably won't come across any ugly Americans- just artists, architects and students. The city itself is beautiful- especially the historic Colonial downtown area. The people are as nice as can be and they have a certain sense of sophistication and open-mindedness that is sometimes hard to find in Mexico. There are TONS of beautiful women in Morelia because its a college town and they are pretty much approachable.
Mongering-wise, Morelia can't compete with a place like Monterrey, but I rate it much higher than the other Colonial cities like Guanajuato and Oaxaco where there is literally next-to-nothing to choose from. There isn't much of a MP scene in Morelia, but the escort services are solid and the SW-scene is OK and amateur actions is most definitely to be had. There are also private escort, semi-pro clubs that have popped up, but I don't have any first-hand knowledge of them.
I'm also not much of a club guy and I find the escort services to be a better deal in the long run. You can get an escort here in Morelia for between 400 and 1200 pesos with quality not necessarily related to price (Just be prepared to stand firm and send a girl or two back). The working girls are also extremely "Girl-Friendy" and its common to make side deals with the escorts outside of the agency. It's very common for me to hang out with the girls after our "dates" to go dancing or to a concert at no extra cost. (This may be one of the few relatively large cities in Mexico where the girls are still impressed by the fact that we're American.)
So, I would recommend Morelia for your trip. The city is gorgeous and the people are very friendly and helpful. The mongering scene is good, but its not a pus*y-factory like at the border or in other large cities. If you want to get laid 3 times a day and have orgies and threesomes all week Morelia is not the right place to go, but if you want to get laid while being in a relaxed, safe and sophisticated environment Morelia is for you.
I swear I do NOT work for Morelia's department of tourism. I'm just in love with the place!
Be Safe,

Posts: 1388Munch, you are opting for a nice stay in our country, restfull and without a girl.
The colonial type towns are extremely conservative. Make it midnight, 1 am tops and everyone goes to bed.
Universities can only be found at the state capitals.
And there is one thing to have in mind: the further South from the border into Mexico, the more expensive the girls get.
The more you distance yourself from the border AND the big cities like Guadalajara, Mexico City and Monterrey, you'll find less and less action, less girls, less quality.
Of course there are exceptions, but the price will be higher than the average at the border towns.
NonPros: that is another story. Many ladies will fall for an American. Where to find them at a conservative colonial town? that is the question.
And am not mentioning here the sea resorts... expensive, of course.
And also, the more you go South from Mexico City... you'll find siltch.
Sorry Munch, but that is the general idea in Mexico...

I travel to Mexico for buisness a lot and post in the Mexico City, Tijuana and Guadalajara forums. But will have a week free and want something different. Namely, a nice clean, colonial city with lots of inexpensive chicas and maybe a university too. I prefer SWs, brothels (casas de citas), MPs and nonpros. I'm too old for the loud strip clubs and generally too cheap for the high class call girls. I am bi-lingual, read all the forums here, bought some travel books and would like you suggestions. Of the colonial cites, which is the best for mongering?
I am trying to narrow it down from the following short list: Oaxaca, Puebla, Merida, Xalapa, Queretero, Morelia, etc. Given what I am looking for do you guys have any preferences? Please feel free to send me a private message if you want.
Gracias, ML

Posts: 409Drug ruse by prostitutes kills clients
Here's some info you all might interest you.
Tue Oct 4,10:08 AM ET
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Half a dozen Mexico City prostitutes have been arrested for using eye drops containing a sleep-inducing drug to knock out and rob their clients, leaving at least five men dead, a newspaper said on Monday
One central city district has recorded 17 cases this year including five deaths from the drug cyclopentolate -- a muscle relaxant used in eye examinations to dilate the pupil and blur vision.
"Once they are in the hotel it seems they slip a substance into the client's drink. Our data shows that they are using eye drops," local prosecutor Fernando Lopez told the daily El Universal.
Mixing eye drops, which are not meant to be swallowed, with alcohol can create a fatal mixture for someone with heart problems, experts say.
One 39-year-old man who survived his ordeal and woke up giddy and missing his wallet, said he was careful not to let his drink out of his sight -- but unwittingly ingested the drug after the sex worker secretly applied it to her nipples.
Other victims of the ruse included a South African tourist and a government legal advisor, Lopez said, adding there could be many more victims who had opted not to go to the police.

Posts: 33Doing business in MX ..
I've made the move to MX recently. And prior to moving I did some general research on running my small telephone/Internet business. The thing is - with today's technology, no body has to know what I'm doing.
I have cell phone service that gives me local access to most of MX, to most of the U.S. and to some of Canada - all for $99 per month for 1,700 minutes with the benefit of rolling over unused minutes as well (Cingular-North American Plan).
I want to knock on wood as I say this, but I've got it made. As I said, no one knows what I'm doing. So I'm not subject to getting any licenses or paying any taxes in MX. Of course, I run a clean ship for U.S. requirements - I pay my income and payroll taxes, etc. I do my banking in the U.S. and have my business mailing address in the U.S.
Further, by setting up a corporation and having taken early retirement, I pay myself only $12,000 per year to keep my Soc. Sec. check from being diminished. And I take out a lot more money as a dividend. Yes, I have to report a large dividend on my income taxes. And I get no tax deduction on my corporate return for this dividend. But my personal tax bracket is not that high and my corporate tax rate is not that bad. So, I've got sufficient funds to do some traveling in MX and the U.S as well as taking care of my other personal expenses and my business expenses which are minimal.
If you have to hire MX employees, or if you have to work for a MX company or if you have to contact any MX gov't entities - good luck! It's a chore from what I understand. And if you try to hide something that is quite obvious, you are probably headed for some problems - maybe even being asked to leave the country. I don't know, I'm just speculating.
Anyway, if you can work a small internet business and use your telephone. I think you have it made. Good luck to any business venture seekers in MX.

Hi Belgrath,
There are a few parts of Mexico where there are sales taxes. I remember distinctly a few stores in the Zona Rosa in Mexico City that charged sales tax. But, generally there is no sales tax in 99.9% of the country.
I've been living in Mexico for almost 5 1/2 years now and I've learned from my attorneys and various friends that there is no personal income tax for the average Mexican. Only business owners pay taxes (the ammount usually depending on how many employees they have). Also, you must pay property taxes and a tax called "IVA" for a few things like satellite dishes and vehicles I believe. Other than that, taxes as we know them don't exist.
Now, unless the hookers registered themselves with the government as a small business, they wouldn't pay taxes.
This sounds great with no taxes and all, but remember you get what you pay for. All street repairs are paid for by the citizens and everything, even the garbage truck, has its price. The water is dirty and free health care sucks. Also, to make up for the lack of taxes to steal, the government and police look to make up the differences at the expense of the Mexican people.
And there is a Mexican welfare system that is underfunded, almost invisible and crippled by the crazy, oxymoronic Mexican law: You must show a pay stub and proof that you own your house to get any sort of financial support!
Everbody I've known in Mexico gets paid in cash and if you had the money to buy a house then the gov't can say that you aren't really poor. Duh!
If it wasn't for the hot ladies and the great climate and the easy lifestyle, I'd be gone.
Have fun and be safe,
Miller2K

Posts: 227Does Mexico tax hooker income?
Always wonder when I'm down there and seeing the HUGE amounts of cash that the more popular girls make down there and know how money hungry and corrupt the govt is down there how the govt gets it's cut. The more popular AB and CC girls in TJ make US $100,000+ in cash a year and you figure it would be irresistable to govt taxmen. Does Mexico have income taxes? Never see anything taxed in Mexico, just paying bribes... Never paying any sales tax is so nice though I dont know how legal it officially is.. Also does Mexico have anything like welfare? I see so many desperately poor down in TJ and I wonder if they are truely in such dire staits and hungry as the beggers claim to be.

Jackson Why No Section for Southern Mexico that always stumps me? Why not also a section for Merida here? But seriously you should do that. You would have to then switch Cancun and Cozumel here. Then have a section for Merida of course and also Campeche and Villerhermosa plus a section on Chiapas State. Then of course The Other Areas Section. In Chiapas I know for sure besides Tuxtla Gutierrez there must be action in Tapachula plus Tonala for sure. I am not sure of San Cristobal de las Casas but The Other Places Yes Do Have XXX Action. Maybe Tehauntepec and Juchitan in Chiapas State have a scene too. Not Sure on that but maybe. In Quintana Roo on the border of Belize in Chetumal there must be a scene too. O.K. I hope someone can post some more info on these places.
