    hi Mystic,

As far as the legality of sex in strip clubs, I'm not sure what the situation actually is, but I always assumed that its against the law since I'm always with my chosen girl, sneaking around to have sex in the private area. The girls give the distinct impression that they are not supposed to be having sex as they try to hide away from a window or remove as little clothing as possible. Of course, I've always had some sexual contact whenever I go to a strip club. I guess its like almost everything else in Mexico: Paper laws are just mere suggestions. However, I do know that while prostitution is legal, its illegal to run an establishment that benefits from sex workers. So, I always assumed that strip clubs try to hide the sex as much as possible since it would cost them a gigantic bribe to the Federales.

I agree that its extremely rare to see a Mexican woman over 30, without children. I've only met 5 since I moved to Mexico four years ago and one of them had Down Syndrome.

Interesting posts in this section. I have a few comments:

-- Can anyone verify the legal situation about sex in Mexican strip clubs?

-- As far as Mexican women without kids that are 30+, that is a rarity. From my observations of the culture, most Mexican women of that age will have at least one teenage child by the time they reach their mid 30s.

    Hi all:

This is very interesting about street prostitutes in Oaxaca:

Hope you find it insightful. These women are amazing in all senses.

Hello everybody...Since I haven't done much mongering in recent months, I haven't had much to contribute. So, I'd just like to make a contribution based on past experience and general findings in Mexico. This idea came from several postings on
this board and several personal and 2nd hand experiences

HOW NOT TO GET RIPPED-OFF IN A MEXICAN STRIP CLUB

    1) Always do your own research and know where you want to go before you get in the taxi. Relying on the driver is, at best, an iffy proposition. Never go to a strip club where the taxi driver enters the club with you. These places are clip joints and your bill will be doubled or more because the taxista gets a cut and you will pay for it. (This happens more in huge cities like Mexico City or Beach Cities like Acapulco)

    2) Get to the strip club early. Most strip clubs in Central Mexico open at around 9pm and if you get there shortly after it opens, you won't see many or any girls, but you get your choice of tables and you can make friends and allies among the employees. You can also get a head-start on the other guy because you can see the girls as they come in and you might get first crack at them. You might have to buy a couple of extra drinks while you wait, but the benefits of arriving early are greater than the extra cost. (And if your contact happens to be in a management position, you may avoid paying the cover charge the next time you come.) The temptation is to arrive at around 11pm when the action really starts to pick up, but coming in at that hour may force you to take a bad table, a second rate girl, or worse, you might have to wait until there is an available table.

3)TIP.....Giving tips is the most important thing you can do to lessen your risks of getting ripped-off. Make friends with the waiters, security and other employees. Find out who is the one with the most pull. You can see this by observing the guy who is most confident, most charismatic and most active. Make small talk with him when you get a chance and tell him exactly what you want. He knows which girls give which services. He also knows which girls are rip-off artists. Tip this man generously (maybe 100-200 pesos) up front and tell him that you'll give him a similar tip before you leave if you are happy with the service. From my experiences, he will bust his ass trying to make you happy. One time, I was looking for a very specific service and the waiter brought at least 12 girls to my table to ask them if they wanted to do what I wanted. Also, tip up front (20-25 pesos)the man or lady who supervises the "private area". You'd be amazed how they conveniently "forget" that its time for you to leave your private room.

    4) Buy a bottle or a bucket of beers instead of drink by drink. In the long run you'll save money and the hassle of having a waiter at your table every few minutes.

    5) Be upfront, firm and direct at all times whil still being nice. Don't feel bad about turning away the girls thatapproach you. They won't get hurt and they probably have forgotten about you by the time they turn around. When you finally get the girl you want at your table make it clear what you want. If she disagrees, let her go. To avoid buy too many ladies drinks I always say, "I have a good amount of money with me, but I'd prefer to spend it on you and not on drinks." This lets them know that you aren't cheap or broke if you don't buy them many drinks and that they will still get their money even if they don't make money off the ladies drinks. Also, negotiate all prices and desires up front and in detail. A minor reluctance at the table will be a major problem in the private room.

    6) Keep track of what you buy and what you have. Getting a bucket of beer or a bottle allows you to know exactly what you are spending and it will prevent additional charges that grow after every drink. (I once got a bill for 620 pesos for 2 beers and a ladies drink in a Mexico City club...by the way, I didn't pay)

    7) Figure out before hand what you want to spend and keep that amount loose in your pocket. You will then know exactly how much you have left in your budget at all times. This will prevent you from spending too much money on a night out.

    8) Finally, get phone numbers whenever possible. After hours service is almost always available. Keeping a list of excellent providers always gives you some sure things in case you have a bad night and can't find a good time.

These are almost all lessons that I learned the hard way. Many strip clubs will take as much from you as possible. A good, strong attitude and a few bribes will earn you enough respect so that you won't be ripped-off. Of course, even if you follow every bit of advice there is still a chance that you might have a bad experience, but these tips should increase your odds of getting what you want.

Generally speaking, I spend between 1,100 and 1,400 pesos for a night out at a stripclub. That includes my drinks, a couple of ladies drinks, a private dance and FS or a BJ. Not too bad in my opinion. All that for about 125 US dollars.

I hope I helped...Feel free to add to my list of tips. I'm always looking as well for a way to save a few bucks and get better service...

    Take care and have fun....

Sun Devil, the most interesting thing to me is that there IS a sushi place in Juarez!!.

My spanish is my achilles heel there. I'm trying, but I don't get enuff practice, and my job precludes any structured classes. So I use the car cd's etc. My oft travelling buddy has had amazing success just chatting up women in restaurants, similar to what you describe, but alas, I can't pull off such a complex conversation as of now.

An interesting thing happened to me this past Easter Sunday. I was at a sushi bar in the Pronaf section of Juarez, Kinsui, which is near the Futurama mall.

Now this place would be considered very expensive in Mexico but to Americans it just has normal prices. For you sushi fans, on Sundays and Mondays, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, the restaurant has an all you can eat buffet for $11. Liking sushi myself, needless to say, I was there for a few hours.

Being by myself, I began talking to my waiter and we ended talking about our favorite subject, Mexican women. He indicated that Mexican women are easy to get into a relationship because the culture holds it very important in getting married and having a large family. Also it is present oriented, unlike European and US societies, which are more future oriented. As a result, Mexicans like to have fun now rather than saving for the future.

The gist of our conversation is that a single man with money can have a lot of fun with chicks in that country. I guess this holds true everywhere in the world. I asked him what qualities do Mexican women like the most in a man, for example, looks, good clothes, or buffed muscles. He indicated that to a Mexican woman it is money.

I hinted that I make more than $30,000 annually, a figure I chose since it is, in my opinion, based on reports by the popula media, as the average US salary. He hinted that I could live very well on that amount of money in Mexico and that I would have women after me on a consistent basis.

Thus, in his opinion, whether you are old and fat, as long as you have a decent income, you can generally score with a hot looking Mexican chick. He cited the Mexican singer and actress Thalia, who is married to a fairly average looking guy named Tommy Matolla, who is head of Sony Music, and the ex-husband of Mariah Carey, as an example. Granted, this is a bad example, since we are talking about a very powerful man in the music industry; nonetheless, it does show that money is an aphrodisiac to women universally.

After this conversation, I started talking to a middle aged Mexican woman sitting at the next table. She was waiting for her niece, a 20 year old law student. She asked me how old I was, where I was from and what I did occupationally. She started asking me whether I was married and had any children. Afterwards, she questioned me on whether I like to dance.

Needless to say, she was in the process of trying to hook me up with her niece. I, a total stranger from a different country, who spoke Spanish with an American accent, was being induced by an obviously upper middle class Mexican woman to go out with her niece. I guess it helped that I tend to wear nice clothes, shoes and expensive watch, such as on that day.

Soon afterward, her niece came into the restaurant. She dressed sort of like a granola chick but nonetheless was pretty in an exotic kind of way with long curly dark hair. To make a long story short, I ended up going clubbing with her that night at Vertigo, a club near, if I am not mistaken, Ignacio Mejia and Lincoln.

The conclusion of this story is that Mexican women, I guess Latin women in general, have the concept of looking for love, rather than career, quite unlike the women in the US, as the major goal in life, regardless of social class. Thus, it is quite easy to get Mexican girlfriends, as long as you look fairly elegant and not slovenly, and that you speak a fair amount of Spanish. The grunge look has not quite taken a hold in Mexican culture just yet.

Moreover, if you are a foreigner visiting their country, they generally make the assumption that you are fairly well off, since the majority of Mexican people generally do not do a lot of travelling due to the cost. Therefore, as long as they do not act like jerks, most American men should be able to score fairly easily with Mexican chicas.

"Ya paso el tren." It's an old Mexican saying. The train has already gone by. That is what is preached to young Mexican girls when they are single and 18. She has already missed out on life. Combine that with 24 hour a day fairy tale novelas, amorous suitors promising the world to get in bed with them, and voila, you get yet another single mom.

I agree that the quinceanera has outlived its usefulness. It's one of the many antiquated and useless customs that the Mexicans still perpetuate into their daily lives. Sure, we should have 6 kids, "SI DIOS QUIERE", because that is what our parents did. La Raza. We have to keep the race alive. Like it's in jeopardy of dying out. Too funny. But its a bigger drain on their economy (and therefore ours) than anything else. That's not funny.

I love Mexico. I have lived there, and visit regularly. I don't force my opinions on them. But to think their culture is as cerebral as ours is being way too optimistic. Plain and simple, they live for today. Why plan for tomorrow if you're not sure it will be granted? Which gets me to my point:

As another poster wrote, if you are dating a Mexican girl and pull out a condom to use, she will take that as an insult. Of course she is clean, never mind the 10 guys she has been with (Mexican virgin). And those guys were doing 3-4 girls a week while dating her (or they weren't men, right? right!) None of them used condoms, I guarantee you.

As far as bar girls not using condoms, I've done quite a few without using one. I'm really picky, but thats no excuse. I would venture to guess that most of the posters on this board have done the same, or would. So assume that if she does you without one, she's probably done me without one too.

    Sorry for the rant....BR.

Actually Bush and Fox recently signed an agreement that will send Peace Corps volunteers to México for the very first time, although not in large numbers.

    Where to look?

I've been reading all the posts in the general and living in mexico section and would like to get some feedback from the group. I'm interested in meeting a Mexican woman for a relationship. I've tried meeting hispanic women here in Tucson but it's harder than it should. Tucson is 1/3 hispanic - it shouldn't be that difficult.

Ideally I would like to meet a single/divorced/widowed woman. Prefereably with black hair, dark features (busty would be nice) and no kids. Age 30-40. Not fat, not skinny, but easy on the eyes. I'm not looking to rescue someone or try and convert a SW.......just looking for an average woman.

I've thought about doing volunteer work in Nogales, but have not been able to locate an agency to contact. Extended weekends are quite feasible, but it's not like I can ask the concierge where to look either.

Volunteer work seemed like a good way to gain some trust of a local person and build from that, but Mexico does not seem to welcome the Peace Corps or other organizations.

Are there any cross-border groups or something similar that I could contact?

OK, I am full of questions. Can someone please tell me why Mexicans (in general) will not smile for posed photos. I have all of these serious looking pix of mis amigas y amigos there. I'm sure it's traditional, but I would like to know the actual reason, if anyone knows.

    Re: Quincenera.
Rear window made an interesting observation. The custom of celebrating a girl's 15 yr. birthday is actually Aztec, and still practiced today. Originally, it represented the girl becoming marriage age, and today it represents a girl becoming a woman.
But, frequently rural people in many cultures marry young to begin to have sex.
I have often met girls in mexico who had several children and they were only 19. I have dated a girl here in california from TJ who is 25 and has one or more children, kept secret from me of course.
Let's face it, whether considered legal, a 15 or 16 year old girl is a young woman and perfectly capable and willing to have sex and children.
    Have fun

The condom comment is very interesting. My top 3 chicas all tried to get me sin condom, basically by getting on top of me during foreplay. And all 3 succeeded at times, but I was able to clear my other head after some welcoming strokes and grab a jimmie before we got too far along..mostly because I trust them to be clean. And they are. On my other travels I wouldn't dare not use a condom.

I'm going to raise a subject here that may [CodeWord140] some off, but I think it is a real problem with the Mexican culture.... and that is quinceanos (sp?). I've been asking women who I meet about various details of their lives. Notably ,when did you get that tattoo, when did you have your first nino, etc. Invariably, that occurred around 16 or so. (i know that quinceanos is the 15th bday) I believe that the quinceanos is a real problem for the girls because it is a celebration of their womanhood, and that they then make decisions or act upon impulses (at a young age for we Americans) that place them in the economic straits we find them in. "I am a woman, " family is status etc. I find this easier to try to argue vocally, rather than in type, but I welcome all responses about this. Let me know if I am off base here...but I don't think I am.

Dash wrote that "Mexican guys will frequently refuse condoms, the sex act is not a time when a girl can start suddenly asserting herself. The only reason I have heard for ANY mexican man to use a condom is because he is concerned with catching a disease from the woman."

All the more pertinent that we cover ourselves when having sex with these women. I have been told that they assume that putting on a condom indicate that you don't really love them. Having sex with them bareback shows that you really like them or that you are a couple in love. Another cultural difference between the US and Mexico.

Re: Age differences, kids, mexican girls.
Diablo, Sun Devil, Rear Window are correct. I lived in mexico when only 26 and high school girls were coming on to me. I was a bit shy or had a problem with the age difference, but they didn't! Since then, I return frequently, and have been dating (having sex) girls 25 years younger than I. My last one was 22 years younger. Using a 100 mg viagra broken in half had amazing results! I am very youthful appearing for my age (like John Edwards without the millions), but the girls don't care when they find out the age difference. I had a girlfriend who was 18 when I was 43. I recently dated a TJ girl 25 years younger here in CA. She was drinking and it slipped out that she has a kid back home, she must have had it when she was only 17 or so. She wants another one within 10 years.
Mexican guys will frequently refuse condoms, the sex act is not a time when a girl can start suddenly asserting herself. The only reason I have heard for ANY mexican man to use a condom is because he is concerned with catching a disease from the woman. Mexicans enter easily into marriage and children, and sometimes the marriage is strange to us, with both partners cheating but maintaining the home life for reasons of convenience and necessity. There were many married women I could have fucked in mexico if I desired, but I was always "evitando problemas"=avoiding problems. There are so many single moms (note: 50% of mexican marriages dissolve also!) down there it was simply impossible not to be hit on while going about your daily business.
My spanish is excellent so that perhaps helps, also, being fair with blue eyes seems to really count for a lot in the appearance area.
Re: Money issues. In case readers didn't know this, money and power or position etc is an actually an aphrodisiac to women, they can't help it. To us, madeleine albright is a hag and even with millions untouchable. But, Henry Kissinger was getting some hot girls in his heyday, although old and a toad. Women like youth, appearance, and money in their men, but will often compromise one for another attribute. Have all three and you will be simply irresitible to women, moreso in poor countries like mexico.
    Suerte con las chicas,
    Dash
