Posts: 394Hey guys, thanks for the info. If I were to go to Guadalajara, where do you recommend I stay? Are the mongering actions close to downtown and Plaza Tapatia and Javier Mina or is it around the Zona Rosa?
Also, is the central bus station, since I am planning to use a bus to get to the city, close to downtown or will I have to take a taxi. I still find it incredulous that the second largest city in the country be so economical for mongering action.

Posts: 3359Sun Devil: Guadalajara has excellent restaurants, some museums, art, free music, and other cultural activities, and excellent mongering. The weather is excellent year-round due to slight elevation and being sheltered from hurricanes and such. No compound but there is an RLD/zona de tolerancia, as well as clubs and massage parlors. Check Adam's apples at all times as it is the sex change capitol of North America as well as a haven for gay Mexicans. It has a great new bus terminal and yes, the buses are excellent in Mexico. Most recently I took a huge Volvo bus from Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta, passing through the agave plantations and finally a bit of jungle. It was about 350 pesos. A general and very rough rule of thumb would be $10 US per hour of bus ride for a luxury bus. There were movies on this ride but no attendants. They gave you a sack lunch with a non-alcoholic drink when you boarded, and they searched the carry on luggage so be careful what you have in there. I had a bunch of sex toys so it was a bit embarassing. Or, it would have been embarassing if I weren't a

Posts: 68Just wondering whether these cities have compounds to meet the girls
In regular Mexican cities you are most likely to find "Zonas de Tolerancia" (tolerance zones), usually at the fringes of the city limits.
In larger towns you'll find red light districts - much like it is in most places in the US.

Proko - don't forget that he said he was "interested in other vacational activities, such as visiting museums and trying out restaurants" - skipping GTO in favor of Guadalajara means missing la Yegua and the very beautiful colonial towns, restaurants and museums that are conveniently located nearby.
Like I said I like San Miguel - I live here full time - and there is more mongering action than ever. I am seeing new places popping up every where.
Prices have never been lower, either.

Posts: 394Thanks miller2k for the information. Just wondering whether these cities have compounds to meet the girls or you pretty much have to ask the taxi drivers where to get some action.

...nice to talk with you again...
No, I'm not dead...just happily retired from mongering right now...
I agree with you about Guanajuato. It's a beautiful city with a lot to see, but it isn't exactly a hotbed of carnal delights. As for Guadalajara...believe it or not, I've never spent any significant time there (because of some advice a few friends gave me). Personally, I'm not too keen on the estetica scene. I much prefer taking a girl back to the hotel. (plus, I'm a big guy and those tables aren't very comfortable for me)...but your rave reviews of Guadalajara esteticas make me want to go back in time and try some out.
So, stay safe and have fun all. Sorry I won't be giving any mongering reports any time soon...but I'm always here lurking if anybody needs any help...

What am I missing? The city of Queretaro is different than the city of Guanajuato, no? I thought maybe Queretaro was in the state of Guanajuato, but no it isn't. I liked La Yegua. But I didn't find anything happening in Guanajuato . . . or in San Miguel for that matter. Guanajuato is a good tourist town but the hottest thing I saw there were a few good looking mummies with their bushes still intact. I DO like older women, but that is going too far . . .
Peace, -P

Proko - are you actually recommending missing La Yegua in Queretaro?!?
I know I am biased since I am in San Miguel de Allende - but I can say that I have been to at least 30 brothels in 9 different countries since age 14 and La Yeguita is in the top 2 - (#1 was in Thailand, but it was my first experience in a brothel, and I am probably biased by childhood memory ).

I think I would scratch Guanajuato from your list and add Guadalajara. I had a hard time finding any action when I was in Guanajuato. Nothing very obvious. On the other hand the esteticas of Guadalajara are very active, easy to find and a good deal at $40-$80 per hour for a massage, sauna and FS.
Also, the deluxe buses of Mexico are the best I have ever been on.

I would recommend any of the Colonial Cities in the middle of Mexico for the best combination of economical mongering and culture...Morelia, Queretaro,Guanajuato...(Guanajuato is heavy on history and culture, but a little lighter on "adult" fun). There are other big, nearby cities that give a lot of bang for the buck...Leon, Celaya, Pachuca, Toluca. These places are medium-large cities that are not tourist-obsessed. Therefore, prices are low and people are generally friendlier. In these towns, being an American works for you not against you like in the coastal cities or Mexico City. In other words, you're less likely to be hussled for a few extra pesos.
Personally, I would recommend Morelia because, since I moved to Mexico 3 1/2 years ago, I've been going there and I've never had a single problem. The people are friendly and very out-going. Morelia has a beautiful downtown, with old Spanish architecture and Cathedrals. It also has an Int'l Airport and is within bus distance from the other cities I mentioned.
Speaking of buses, The bus-riding experience is much better than the Greyhound experience. I was reminded of that fact recently when I took a Greyhound from San Diego to Las Vegas during a 5-day excursion back to the USA. More people take buses in Mexico,so there is more money to provide cleaner bus terminals, more comfortable seating, and entertainment (although, many of the movies are dubbed in Spanish). Also, because there is much more competition than in the USA (Mexico has numerous different bus lines) and more buses on the road, buses are not always sold out and many times you have an empty seat next to you.
If you're looking to bus it from the USA to Central Mexico, there are also very economical bus fares that take you from the Northern USA to Southern Mexico. From my personal experience, the fare from Chicago to Morelia was (aprox)250 US dollars (I used "Autobuses Americanos). But 44 hours on a bus is not the best way to go...believe me.
In general, the bus fares are a little less than half the price of the greyhound fares in the US...and the service and comfort level is much better in my opinion.
If you have any further questions...please don't hesitate to ask.

Posts: 394Could somebody recommend which major city, other than those on the border, to go to for some mongering action at the most economically rate? I know there is more to Mexico than the border cities for the hobby. Also, in addition to women, I am interested in other vacational activities, such as visiting museums and trying out restaurants.
Also, has anyone tried the luxury bus lines in Mexico? How do they compare to Greyhound? I have heard that they have movies, luxury seating, food, and a bus attendant. With these amenities, are they expensive?
Thanks.

Posts: 6Deicer and others regarding Phrasebooks: "Lonely Planet Latin American Phrasebook" is the best I've found for the hobby. Aside from the normal pronunciation, accomodations, food, health sections it has a section titled "going out". This has phrasees for "dating and relationships" including before, durring and after "intimacy" as they put it. Very helpful, pocket sized and about 7 bucks.
Regarding PalmPilots: I always take a small notpad and pen. MUCH cheaper than a Palmpilot. If I lose it BFD, easy to replace (both simple and no explanations to SO). Also, it can be very helpful to have others write down names or draw maps, etc. not something I would do with a Palmpilot!

Whats the scoop with viagara sales south of the border. Can you get the real deal for less? Is a prescription necessary? Any trouble with customs?
Thanks,

Posts: 2This is a general request for SPECIFIC info on one to two week rentals in the Tiajuana/Ensenada area. I have traveled into Mexico over 25 times and now feel I must have put over $2000 in hotel charges into the pot. Isn't there some way to rent a week or two in an apartment there at a lower cost?

Posts: 7I do recommend the Berlitz Latin American Spanish phrasebook (available at places like Amazon, and any good bookstore). It's color coded, and has tons of the basic "where's the train station" kind of stuff. It's also a comfortable pocket size format.
I ordered the phrase book above from Amazon along with some other stuff including "Street Spanish 3: The Best of Naughty Spanish" by David Burke.
Will post my impressions.

If I had scrolled down further before asking about key Spanish phrases, I would have seen diablomactavish's helpful list. Would still be interested in additonal expressions.
