    Ciudad Acuna Anyone?

I have been to Acuna twice, fall of 07 and 08. Skipped last fall due to "violencia". Propably wasnt as bad last year as it was in 08. I have never had ANY problems in Ole Mex. I don't want to be an innocent bystander though. So I will share what I know here, but would like to hear from someone who has been recently. I have had my fun at Hunters and is where we usually go. I have been offered the same in the bars but have refrained. The last time we went we took someone who had not been before, long story short he scored an illicit substance from a restaurant patron in the middle of the day. We didn't get in any trouble but it kind of marred the whole trip. He won't be joining us this time, or ever again. I would like to do my usual, and hit up crosbys the corona club and hunters not to long after sunset in about a month. Any one see a problem with this? Do I need to worry about ZETA? Is the consolate avaliable?

    Thanks All

    Ojinaga across from Presidio, Texas

I just wonder what was happing at Ojinaga across from Presidio, Texas. Many Years ago that was the place for boys from Sul Ross University at Alpine, Texas to go in fact I broke my cherry there. The girls were not very friendly there no floor show or anything like that, just pussy. In fact the one I screwed there did not even take her bar off.

I have not heard anything about anyone going to play around there. Also I have not heard anything about drug problems or killings there. If anyone knows anything about O-JO please let me know.

    Acuna quick morning

I had to go to Del Rio today on business.

So I left a few hours early I got to town about 10: AM My Meeting was not until 12 noon so I decided to go up on the hill and see what was happing. Did expect much if anything that early.

Got up on the hill a few pick-ups and car at the Hunter Ranch. I drove up on top but saw no one went back to the Hunter ranch went in guy told me no girls come back 2 or 3 pm walked across the Rio it was locked. Had to be back in Del Rio by 12:00 noon, so I was about to leave and guy came out of the Café there and ask me why I was leaving. I told him NO GIRLS. He said wait a minute and he would find me a good one. He went in the Ranch and came back in a few minutes told me to come with him we went to a girl's room, I ask her if she want a drink, she said yes. So we went and had a drink. She keep saying she wanted $100 plus the room, I was not going to pay that, She had nice small but firm tits, with long big nipples, and a good body and did not mind my hand all over her, and she did the same in return. I didn't have time to go to the room, so I got a couple of good lap dance. She got me so HORNEY that I don't know if my wife will ever let me go back to Del Rio, or if she will send me back soon.

    Passport Needed

Starting March 1, 2010 Mexico will require all non-citizens to have a valid passport. So those of you that have been sliding on the U.S. side could get slamed in Mexico. Just another reason to hold you up for money!

Be careful and be safe, Mexico is not what it use to be.

    Agree with Vette

I do not want to get in a P-match with anyone on here especially vette since we are in the same town. What I wrote is not BS; just careful. I will agree with about 90% to 95% of what he says. But the Zeta's do control the liquor consession in Acuna. No one has been kidnapped etc. The Americans robbed and beat was about 100 miles in mexico from McAllen. See story www.Chron.com/disp/story. Mpl/world/6733362.html

From the Houston Chronicle or in trapshoot.com

I am white and do not speak spanish. If you are spanish then the problem is not so great. I feel if you are white and drive a stand out vehicle the police will pull you over more than 50% of the time. My lady is spanish and likes to party with me. We were pulled over by the soldiers not police near the arc over a year ago coming from the hill and fleased down pretty good. The Capt want my lady to go to supper with him or he could make me dissapear. She talked our way out of there but it did cost. If you go Vette is right do take a cab and I think safety in numbers. The main drag is what I would do if I was alone. The door girls are not as good as the hill as vette says but allot cheaper and the hotel are not that bad. Now and then there is a diamond in the rough near Leardo street (sp) probanly not spelled right. The economy is bad in Mexico because no one goes over. Why possible crime. Manuel's is opening up in Del Rio at the old Ranch cafe site near Amistad Bank. Have fun, be safe and careful and cautious.

Thanks Vette, I appreciate your taking the time to write that up. I'm impressed at your negotiating abilities -- $8. I've never gotten away paying less than $20.

Does anyone know of a case where a U.S. citizen was stopped by bandits, Zetas, whatever, while driving? If so, where? What happened? Is the Archway and bottom of the hill a problem area?

Is anyone aware of a U.S. citizen being kidnapped in Acuna? How about a U.S. citizen who was a tourist, with no local ties in Del Rio or Acuna?

Are the police still pulling people over given any excuse or no excuse? It seems like about 50% of the times I've been to Acuna I've been pulled over and had to pay a bribe -- curious if this is still normal now that the Zetas supposedly control the city.

What are the best restaurants right now? Are both locations of Landos closed or just the one downtown?

Is the Best Western Villa Real still the best hotel? Is your car safe in the parking lot?

I used to drive around in Acuna with decent car (i.e. an Infinity or Toyota Land Cruiser that's a few years old). Maybe that's why I was always getting stopped. Anyway, do you think that's significantly more likely to make you a target for the bandits, other than the cops?

If you're going to Boystown, are you safer going in a taxi than in your own vehicle? If answer is yes, has anyone tried this while staying at, say, Best Western or Los Alpes? Or is there a good hotel downtown now that's girl friendly where you can easily get a taxi?

I've looked around on Google and suspect Vette is right -- I can't find reports of tourists being seriously harmed in Acuna. But then given what's happening in Nuevo Laredo and given that the Zetas appear to control Ciudad Acuna now, I'd be very interested in what you guys think, and what any of the Del Rio residents have read in the local press.

    Thanks for the help
I'll try and answer this the best I can.

First of all, Hawkeye's report if just plain bullshit; don't pay it any mind at all.

    A) No bandits or any of that in Acuna; I have not read anywhere about the Zetas pulling anyone over or anything of that sort. That archway has always been a problem, Zetas or no Zetas. Lately its been ok thought; alot of police clean-up has happened in Acuna the past several years.

    B) Again, I have never heard of any US citizen or tourist with no ties to who/whatever being kidnapped in Acuna. Now I do know of a few friends of mine who were sort of kidnapped but only because they were involved in very low-level illicit shit. If you arent in any of that, you will have no problems.

    C) About getting pulled over by the cops; yes sadly it still happens. The Zetas do not control the city(as far as I know) but they do own several things around town such as after hour beer stores among a couple of other "distribution" "tienditas". If you hadn't had a drink or 9, when they do pull you over, get all THEIR info; badge #, patrol #, etc. If you are in the right, you can tell them to take you(if they arrest you) to the comandancia; sometimes itll scare them, esp. If they are just looking for the bribe; but theres also times that I know I've had svereal beers and I don't want any hassle so I'll give them like $8.

    D) Eateries. Well it just all depends on what you like or want. There is Tacos Grill, and also Manuel's and another place(s) called Don Trini's, as well as alot of local stuff around. Just try what you see and see if you like it.

    E) Best Western is still very good. And yes, your car is safe there. There are also a couple of hotels in downtown acuna, which can be pretty shitty, but acroiss the street they have a lot that is fenced in and the owners usually lock it up and only unlock the gates when you want your car.

    F) The car you drive. I honestly don't think thats a problem in Acuna. I have a harley davidson/ford truck and have never ever had a problem. Also had a corvette, no problems, and now a pontiac and no problems at all.

    G) I would rather take a taxi to boystown. And this is just because of what I said earlier and avoiding anything with the cops, esp. At like 4 in the morning.

Most, if not all the hotels in downtown are girl friendly. I downtown is soo easy to get a taxi, most of the microtaxis are about $5 to get up the hill.

In conclusion, if you don't make an ass or drunk fool of yourself, you are fine. Try to stay away from somewhere if you don't feel safe. Don't listen to any of those guys who always say "hey mister you want anything".

To be honest I have no visited BT in a long while, I have all my fun in downtown; and honestly, IMHO, its better and cheaper. Of course the quality doesn't come as close, but the hell with it. I'd rather spend about $50 total for beer and broads in downtown then $120+ for just a broad in BT.

    Anything else, just ask.

This is, without a doubt, the BIGGEST PILE OF SHIT EVER in the history of this board so far.

I do live in Del Rio and frequent Acuna ALOT, not just for pussy, but because I know alot of girls who live there as well.

The whole thing about those restaurants is because of the economy; no one goes to Acuna anymore for that reason and because of the whole passport thing. Now the Zetas probably have(or haven't) and do shakedown business but nothing to the extent of other border towns. BTW, Landos has been shut down for YEARS, Crosbys has seen a downturn for the LONGEST TIME, and Manuels was just a rumor about the zetas kidnapping/killing the owner. They only wanted to move here for what. Oh yea the economy!

The "councilman" in question was an old business man in Acuna and was once part of the federal police there among other shit. Knowing the family, you would know WHY they killed him.

Don't listen to this bullshit, Acuna is SAFE.

    Progreso

Was in Progreso a few weeks ago and had an OK time. The officina is closed, food vender outside said it had been closed for a while and he did not know when it would reopen. He told me there we a few clubs with chicas one block over but everyone said they only had gordas. Taxi driver took me to boystown and met Maria. 23 only evidence of kids were slightly sagging chi chis. Stayed with me 19 hours at los flores motel for $125. + 30 for bar and 10 for security at la zona. BBBJ no cim covered everything else. Light kissing. Was looking for a little more passion but was a sweetheart and I would do it again.

I'm considering going to Nuevo Progreso sometime soon. Anyone else from Houston or on the way from Houston want to carpool? I've been 4-5 times but never ventured into NP too far. Just the first couple streets. I know I have missed a lot of stuff.

    Acuna

Well since no one has posted about Acuna in a long time I might as well; there is still some good action to be had in the downtown local area of acuna; if you want to save ALOT of money by not going to boystown.

Down past the Dominos pizza in acuna are most of the local bars; girls can be had in some of them for as low as $17 US; only thing that you sacrifice is for the shitty hotel room that you get for about 9 bux; I can verify that even tho some of them smell, the sheets are clean.

Of course some of the broads you get there are not anywhere near the quality of BT girls, after about 5 one dollar beers, you kinda don't seem to mind.

Oh and the names of some of the bars are, Jessies, Tochos, Dos Amigos, and the one next to the dos amigos. Also they just opened up another bar the other day (these people used to run the one I'm telling you next to dos amigos) and its near to where there was a tranny bar. Several hoes are in there that used to work in the other 2 bars I mentioned.
