You can still get a casa for the night at that hour, have a chica as well, ask your taxi guy. Once I landed in Havana at around 11pm, by the time I made it to my casa, where two European girls answered the door, I ended up going with the taxi driver to four different casas before we found a place, and before I even unpacked my bags the owners were telling me they had no problem with me bringing chicas. I say you just need to go with their bullshit, fight the Cuban way and you just end up with a headache. PM me and I can send you their contact info, it's near the university.

Can anyone recommend a cheap hotel near Salon Roja?

I land at like 1am and will only be there for a night before heading to a Casa.

Also, any Casa recommendations slightly outside Havana?

Car rental recommendations as well?

I just got back from three weeks on the island, mainly Havana Vieja. The sex action was amazing and steaming hot like I know it from previous years, but everything else is such an hassle. I had four days no lights, electricity in my casa due to the complete blackout in Habana Vieja (some rumors say it was sabotage, but I don't go there). The water has no pressure, the food is just terrible (unless you want to shell out the big bucks at El Guajirito or Del Oriente) , the girls can't walk with you on the street, the list goes on and on. I love this place, but it gets tougher every year. Wonder how long this can go on like this.

I frequently go to Havana from Toronto for a long weekend. Flight is 3 hours and easy to book through either Air Canada or Sunwing. Sunwing goes through Varadaro and then you hop on a bus fro a 2 1/2 hour bus ride. You can a package dealfor about $8-900 all during tourist season if you book ahead. Now Sunwing only books for a week which is a bummer. Definitely worth the trip.

Sunwing also flies directly to Havana, but not regularly.

Thanks for the tip, haven't thought about it. Indeed it is easier to reach Puerto Plata, DR than San Jose, CR. How's the action there compared with Tijuana for example?

It's quite good. Not Rio or Thailand good, but for the cost and ease of getting there, it offers alot. Biggest difference from Tijuana or CR is that most of the chicas are Black or
Mulatta. For me that's a good thing, but everyone's different. The action is pretty in your face, whether you like bars and nightclubs (Classico's, Rumba) or Strip Joint / puta
Houses (Passions, CMP). Also around Sosua and Cabarete, there are some excellent beaches.

Don't let me dissuade you from Cuba though. I'm actually contemplating going there for a week or two in December. However, a long weekend in Cuba from Chicago just doesn't
make sense.

$50 a day + gas and he will take you wherever you want.

Think about it, $50 CUC per day for your own private chauffeur that knows his way around and if you get sick he can take care of you. LOL. Funny, but true.

I use him all the time, he's a fantastic person and extremely honest. Which is a rare trait in Cuba these days.

He's based in Santa Lucia / Camaguey, but he will take you ANYWHERE you want to go. This guy knows EVERYONE in the area.

Clean, comfortable air conditioned car. Cheaper than a rental.

I am in the US (Chicago) for quite some time on business and planning to go for weekends in the closest and best sex destinations. Obvious choices are Tijuana (San Diego) and Costa Rica, but how about Cuba? WHat is the best wa to travel to Cuba from the US? Is it at all doable for a weekend?

You "could" do it for a weekend, but I don't think you would want to. Technically, you could get an early non-stop to Cancun, then get the Cubana flight to Havana. And do the same thing on the way back. You're talking about $900 to $1000 right there. And you could easily miss your return flight from Cancun because Cubana is frequently late.

Keep in mind that although prostitution is wide-spread in Cuba, it's not a very user-friendly place, especially for the first-time Gringo visitor. Tijuana and C. Rica are much easier to navigate.
